  • See how the heritage of a Spitfire from WWII was preserved by using the HandySCAN Black Elite to create a 3D scan of the aeroplane that is currently held in the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent.
This is a brief overview of one of the many applications that Tom Vine from Staffordshire University demonstrated on a recent ACADEMIA Webinar.
The RAF donated Spitfire RW388 to Stoke-on-Trent in 1972 and is a symbol of great design and engineering representing the link between Stoke-on-Trent and the Spitfire’s designer, Reginald Joseph Mitchell.
By scanning the Spitfire the data is now able to be shared with other museums and an important piece of historical information can now be digitally stored forever.
