  • This is the e-bike conversion kit I bought for my commuter: ebikers.eu/en_...
    It may NOT be as easy, as on the commercial, but 100% doable. Let me show you step - by - step, how I made my Cannondale Bad Boy a hybrid bike...

    I have been watching everything on E-Bike conversions I can.
    Nobody else that I have watched....so far.....has done a video like this.
    As a retired tradesman who has worked with tools daily for years, I could solve all of these problems on my own. But it's still better to have your knowledge of how you solved these problems beforehand.
    Excellent video!
    Excellent camera work!!!!!

    This is an interesting setup, I look forward to seeing how it works. A couple things I noticed:
    - Some e-bikes with that same throttle lever mount it 'upside-down' from the way this kit does, putting the lever above the handlebars. You end up pushing up with your thumb instead of down, but you can put the throttle and shifter right next to each other much more easily.
    - Someone with a 3D printer and a basic CAD program could easily make a little spacer to fill that gap between the front of the battery and the frame, and maybe even get fancy with it and put some guides for cable routing on the side.

    Thanks. I am investigating for some days which motor to use, and your video helped me with 2 things:
    1. I did not know that adapters for mounting batteries exist.
    2. I found out that it will not be possible to use this Tongsheng TSDZ2 motor because of the cabling that goes underneath my frame.
    Now I have to look at Bagang again, and I so much wanted torque sensor motor....

    • @Paul09
      @Paul09 2 года назад

      I just filed down the guide under the bottom bracket for the rear derailleur. Big dab of grease and it seems ok. It's fiddly though as there's only a couple of mm clearance with the TSDZ2

    Pro Tip: but some black silicone or any black flexible adhesive to glue the battery mount in addition to the screws. It is not permanent, as it can still be taken off with some force, but It will secure the battery much better. Also, you can use it to "blend" the battery mount to the frame, make it look like it was made for it

    Regarding the crank removal tool. You're doing the same mistake, almost everyone does. You need to tightnen the first part of the crank removal tool HARD, with a wrench. Then start removing it. :)

    • @MrDegsy69
      @MrDegsy69 10 месяцев назад

      I even go as far as winding a few turns of PTFE around the male threads of the BB removal tool to ensure a snug fit. Strip the threads on the crank arms and you are going to have a pig of a job getting them off with a gear puller instead

    • @primal5435
      @primal5435 10 месяцев назад

      One of the most typical reasons for stripped crank arm threads are exactly because people let the first part be hand tight and not properly tighten with a spanner.@@MrDegsy69

  • @TheStreethack

    The Tong Sheng is definitely a more finicky setup, vs the BBSHD i installed. Mine was an Odd conversion, however that involved a hand fabricated 3 piece eccentric split bottom bracket based on English standard threading, with an oversized bracket shell. Involved filing, grinding, Dremeling on and in bottom bracket shell, the frame and Motor case itself, due to excess thickness of both bracket shell and tight tolerance of shaft going into bottom bracket. Total PITA.. but it was far from an average install.
    The irony.. i haven't yet finished that project.. it sits at 99%. Hook up a chain and go, that's all.. I moved on to the next.

    I received the AW rear wheel conversion kit from Amazon. My bike shop looked at it and there are two problems. First problem is that my Shimano crank is tapered and the PAS takes up room so that my crank will not slide back on all the way, I can tighten the bolt but the crank is not seated all the way and the bike shop said it will eventually wear out the crank arm since it is not tightly seated. My bike mechanic said the only thing he could think of is to grind off some of the crank. Is there a PAS system that will work in this case or do I need to buy a grinder? Also the derailer rubs in top gear and the bike shop said no way to fix except to adjust it and lose the top gear.

    Motor I have is 1,44kg AKM front, the batteries are 18650 cells 4 columns of 10 serial connected cells. Is there a tiny controller that I can use ony my thumb and say a 5x5 box tiny controller?
    Or do i have to learn arduino coding to make my own (again) ?

      Brake detection, speed control, speed controller all are dead weight if you ask me.

    the mechanics trick for this: use a bolt and secure the special removal tool to the bottom bracket: just tight enough to hold the tool firmly in place. It can often require a cheater bar or heavy hammer blow to loosen the bracket, and those special tools don't do well if left too loose.

    Didn't like the small display, can't read it in strong light and low resolution. Motor is good but bearings are medium/low quality. My needle bearing in blue nylon gear was bad from start but didn't know that until later. Needle bearing broke after 800 km. After about 3500 km another bearing broke. But all bearings can be replaced if you have tools and some knowledge.
    I also had some problems with cracked plastic parts (cover) on driveside of motor. Fixed that with epoxy glue. Can' t find plastic covers as spare parts.
    Had same installation issues as in video.

They only use a call center in India as there customer service. You can not speak directly to a FedEx representative. They are terrible at getting a package delivered to there customer, beware. Now they are saying the label is scratched and it can not be scanned. i can not even go pick it up. I should of had it almost a week ago. Now it has to go all the way back to the warehouse.

    • @stonehill27
      @stonehill27 4 года назад

      I had this motor know for almost two years. No problem with contoller, stripped nylon gear or torque sensor. Maybe nylon gear will be damaged if you have high wattage motor, I have 350 watt. Bearings used in motor are low/medium quality but can be replaced. Needle bearing in blue nylon gear seem to be a weak spot. But nylon gear with included bearings can be replaced. And if you have tools, only needle bearing can be replaced separately.
      Wouldn't recommend this motor for people without mechanical skills. You can't service it at local bikeshop. Some bearings will fall, must be replaced after some time.
