You reminded me of a friend who went to work in the U. S. for a while. She wasn't very familiar with slangs and idioms, so her english was very polite. She told me her colleagues had nicknamed her Miss Polite😂
haha that's quite funny. I think this is a common experience for those new to a language. it's better to be polite and a bit formal than the opposite.
