It's the second part of the channel and your meaningful messages on life that keep me glued to your channel as well as the great watch content. It's why you stand apart from other watch channels- it's the sincerity. You showed this aspect of your personality in your old videos and that genuinely stuck with me for many years. It's why I'm glad you're back and I hope this journey with your viewers continues. Sorry you lost someone very close to you. I wish you all the best.
Wow, thank you. Honestly, I'm touched that mattered to you. I've wanted to make content about more meaningful things then just buying possessions, I'm grateful it resonated with you!
The Daydate President is *the* pinnacle of Rolex. Some say it’s the Daytona. Others say it’s the Submariner. Or the GMT, or whatever. Yet for me, the President reigns supreme.
Crazy how the GMT has become a thing again, only 10 years ago or so the GMT wasn't a super coveted model, I remember Batman's for retail price all day long. I'm with you.
I've owned a 1997 Day Date for 10 years. It was my goal as a kid to get this watch. I took 8 months to find the best most original and unabused version I could find. I got it I've owned it and I love it. Mine was purchased through a dealer but the actual owner before me was a collector and so the watch was like new. Since I've owned it I've worn it out of the house twice. No one knows I own it but me. I brought it for me and I keep it for me. I love the fact that I own it and it makes me happy
Dude! This was awesome!( so much so I’m slowing down in the treadmill to write this). Somewhere between 07&09 this watch was the reason I fell in love with Rolex. My old dentist wore one and I remember the clasp and bracelet was always in my face with his hands in my mouth 😂. Till then I was in Tag. Tissot, Citizen. All I cared about was status symbols as well. Totally out of insecurity and vanity. Then I crashed in life. Bad breakup and a deep dive into drug addiction for 6 ish years Bla bla bla , I get clean and meet my wife. I started the whole RUclips thing somewhere around 2016/17 and who did I find..you👊. Boy it has changed so it’s super refreshing to see your chill and casual content. Simple hobbyist talking about watches. Now I’ve developed into a watch collector and someone who appreciates the engineering as well as the beauty. Life is amazing now, my collection is solid and I’m finally getting that first Rolex from an amazing AD. Life is wild man! Appreciate ya💪👊

Very interesting, really enjoyed your explanation of our watch hobby, and love the DD, just so classy. I remember as a kid saving up for a Tudor Submariner, blue snowflake, cos I couldn’t afford an Explorer 2, and back then, no one else was into watches, now as you say, it’s become a very common hobby for people, more I think as a means to show wealth. But it was never that for me, I just loved the whole package of the watches, worked hard restoring old motorcycles for my dad, putting money away each week towards buying it. I was miles away from buying it by Christmas, but fortunately, my lovely parents made up the difference and there was I with my first luxury watch. That started a long and very expensive hobby. Great to hear your story, looking forward to more….
That's an awesome story, that's so cool that your parents helped you to buy it. Yeah, I can't believe how common watch passion is now. Only a few years ago this was a hobby for nerds, nobody else really paid attention to it. Crazy how the world has changed. Love that you have a passion for motorcycles as well!
Thank you for the videos ! One of your previous reviews inspired me to try on the deepsea 44mm and I finally purchased the blue version of it. I was reluctant because of the size but learned to really appreciate the watch and its unique place in Rolex history. One day I may go for a yellow gold day date too. But here is the thing I don’t see myself wearing a 36mm, unless it’s a delicate Patek maybe. After stretching my view in one direction I don’t think I can go in the extreme opposite direction😅You don’t like the 40mm version of it or it’s also a value consideration ?
Totally get it, congrats on the Deepsea, they are totally under appreciated. I hear you on 36mm, I like the 40mm but to me the DD is a 36mm design, all the famous people that wore them had the 36mm. The 40mm is awesome but it’s a different watch to me. Also, with the 18k bracelet the 36mm feels totally substantial for the size, just my feeling.
Keep it! Lexus needs more rear wheel drive cars, not less. Beautiful cars, mine was white over red leather and is still one of my favorite looking cars I've owned. Hope yours continues to treat you well.
It's an interesting paradox that I struggle with as well. I've been obsessed with watches for 10 years and never found the courage to buy a "serious" mechanical watch. The watch media has become so focused on presenting watches as a lifestyle. Not just the glitz and glamour watches but the one that I've found really interesting is the rise of the "tool watch" discourse where people get caught between talking about watches as some practical device and the superfluousness of it at the same time. It often seems to me to be some kind of masculine performance of the man/dad who does DIY and romances about the adventure marketing fluff. I don't think it's a bad thing and don't mean to sound condescending about it but as soon as you put words or thoughts down about the watches, you find yourself back at the original paradox of your love for something and then upon reflecting on why you do, you have to confront the contradiction of it all. I'd be interested to hear your reflections in a video on the rise of the "tool watch" and "tool-watch-lifestyle". Great to see you back and have very fond memories of teenage me watching your Seiko videos!
Oh wow, really appreciate the support and thoughtful response. I still have all of my Seiko's and my Seiko Monster is still dear to me. The SARB035 was my favorite watch until it broke. Totally with you on the lifestyle and contradictions as to why people collect.
Haha, wow...great memory. Yeah, I regret trading that car way back in 2017 with only 60k on the clock for a GS350 F-Sport. The next owner totaled it... funny enough when I sold the GS for a GX that car also got totaled. My daily is a 2024 Bronco Sasquatch with a 6spd manual...no Lexus but I love it. I think the LS430 is the best car they ever made...
@@JANTHONYCHANNEL Yeah, I remember that video and yelling at my iPad, "Noooo! Don't sell it!" That is awful to hear about the LS430 being totaled. What a loss. But this is life. We move from one ride to the next. The Bronco sounds fun and I am sure it's a blast to drive. I currently have two cars: A Prius (kill me, but it's economical - bought it when gas prices were insane) and a 1985 Mercedes Benz 500 SEC (a ride that has eaten my wallet alive). The SEC is a real head turner and likely a lifer.
@@yankeedoodle6293 Love car scenarios. What are you looking for in a car and are you buying new or used? To me it comes down to how long you plan to keep it and if you care about insurance, maintenance and reliability. If you need a car to last 10+ years with minimal maintenance or cost, I'd skip them both and buy a Lexus. If shorter term, the Genesis would likely be a lot cheaper to own service wise. If you don't care about any of that I think the E450 is the better-looking car. Just be prepared to spend a ton of money on Mercedes Maintenace and depreciation.
@@ItsTimePictures I have total respect for that mix.
