I was privileged to visit the Yolgnu people in Arnhem land. Yothu Yindi means mother and child. It is also relates to tribal law regarding family, kinship and marriage. It's very complex and difficult for a simple white fella like me to explain in words. The Yolgnu are very proud and are owners of their traditional land in Northern Australia. You need a permit to go there, and it is stunningly beautiful country. Cant swim anywhere though, big crocodiles in the ocean, rivers and billabongs.
In stage 4 lockdown in Melb right now. Was feeling a bit uninspired about everything tonight. Then I watched the Olympic doco about Cathy Freeman, watched the music video for Fire by the Warumpi Band and finally listened to Treaty. Feeling better now. This track makes me proud to be Australian.
