Well done clay I’m from Australia and have been a spectator since 1978 and have watched the read family for a long time they are our icon of Australia drag racing and without them drag racing in Australia wouldn’t be as big as it today they put us on the map and gave us all the best racing I’ve ever seen they got me hooked on racing I never missed a meeting for 15 years in Melbourne Calder park then Calder closed and I stopped going as racing went interstate I wish the reads could give us in Melbourne Australia a track so that die hard fans like me can again go watch the most exciting racing that we once had as Jim read racing was my number one and still is thank you Bruce and to your family for all you did to make it the best racing outside of the USA ❤

Perth boy here too. Last show I went to at Ravenswood was when Gary Miocevich took the Veem jet truck for it's final run in the early 90's. If I remember correctly, that night was the last event ever held at Ravenswood, and the truck was the last vehicle to ever run down the track👍🇦🇺

Great to see Bruce on your vlog Clay, Grew up watching his day Jim..
Don't know if he told you how smart Jim was we hen the Australian government banned tobacco advertising.
Winfield Cigarettes advertising slogan for years was "Anyhow, have a Winfield" and Anyhow was always written big and usually in a different colour.
So to get around the advertising laws, they named the car Anyhow.
Everybody new what it meant, it was genius.
    Legend family in Australia Dragracing.
    Thank you Clay.

I took my father, who thought there was no skill in driving in a straight line.
Jim pulled 221 mph run that night.
The noise and flames and the smell of nitro not to mention the burning eyes kinda woke him up.

Clay, Thank you so much for this! I could write a million words right now but I'll refrain.
Bruce, don't discount yourself, your family is amazing! I grew up watching your parents race & loved it! They were at my High School (Northfield High, Adelaide) in the early 90's (I think) Years life & other stuff later, as a Businnes Owner In Alice Springs NT, I proudly Volunteered my time (for many years & sponsored some events) to help get ASID (Alice Springs International Dragway) up an running, I ran the timing system for the first two years & was over the moon happy that we got to have you up there for an event. I never thought I'd ever get to be sitting behind the timing system for the Read Family at a drag Strip. (I was in the tower running the computers) Bloody amazing stuff. I wish I was still involved in the sport, I live 10 Minutes from the old AIR (Adelaide International Raceway) & it hurts my soul with what has happened to that place & the sport in general. That's a 1% insight from my view. Thanks again Clay, you knocked this out of the park so to speak. Cheers, Leo.

As a young kid in the 80's and 90s in Sydney we had no dragstrip until around1990ish the Top Dogs of the sport was Top Fuel and there was none bigger than Jim Read Racing and the Winfield car
I remember going to Eastern creek when it first opened and Jim Read ran 5.1 in the quarter mile then and we where amazed and new it wa sonly a matter of time to break into the fours little did we know then how fast these cars would eventually become
I cant say I follow that close these days as I live in the Philippines but its great to see the Read family still at the top of their game and doin what they love
