Plus, the group that won (EXID) isn’t from the big3-they were actually in the process of resurrecting their career from near disbandment when they won for “Ah Yeah.” So EXID’s win had also been hard fought and well earned. Fun Fact: the leader of EXID (LE) was also an underground rapper before she became an idol and she and RM have songs they made together from that time. The fandom had a lot of fun imagining Hobi in his place, especially when the lizard was balanced on Tae's head and it fell on his shoulder 😆 Someone said Hobi would've been out the door before the lizard could even touch the ground 😭 I also always interpreted that "The half-famous groups? The ones that do okay? They're actually the worst" from the beginning to mean that being in the middle was harder mentally for idols. You have some fame so you can't run away and forget the rules (no dating, weight & looks, improving skills, etc.) but at the same time, you're not seeing that big a pay-off for the amount of work you do compared to what the famous groups are getting. You're both visible and invisible in the industry, so the pressure to keep being good but do even better is there. That's why I think even with how hard it is now for BTS as the main group representing their country, none of the members would wish to go back to those early debut days. They were known locally but mostly for their "funny group name" or the stupid hate trains against them. The fandom was small and couldn't protect them like today. They were making money that also went back to maintaining and improving the idol standards. 41:10 its actually their winter/summer package series they do biannually, kinda like the season greetings concept. its basically a dvd with photoshoots/the behind recording of the trip to the photoshoot/minigames they play at the location. they tend to do it at a new location evert year. so when they went to Malaysia for the shoot that year, they extended the stay to include their mini vacay. so thats why half of it is still being shot, its part of the dvd.
I think they just don't watch because they think it's only previews that'll spoil the next episode, either way it's fortunately not anything too essential they're missing

And then he debuted in a 3rd super popular group... who disbanded after a month. So now he is competing for the 3rd time to debut in his 4th group. 4 GROUP! And he is a '97 liner... he has been an idol since 2015/2016. I am really praying he makes it this time as well and the group is successful. But since it is again a survival program group, even if he makes it.. it will be a group for a year.. two tops

Yes, there was a lot of invalidation BTS faced bc the overwhelming majority of their fandom was international. It took many years (I’d say until around 2017) for BTS’ Korean following to begin to catch up with their international following. I’d argue that to this day, BTS’ international following outnumbers their domestic following. But yeah, nowadays more non-Big 3 groups are able to stay afloat thanks to having an international following (while lacking significant interest domestically) but back then BTS were the firsts to find themselves in that situation (AND to be succeeding beyond the domestic juggernauts because of it).

there are few different music shows and they kinda vary in their status? idk how to really explain it but you have shows like "inkigayo" which is the most prestigious, they mostly award songs that chart really well. in other shows fan votings are a huge criteria. "the show" is rather unique because really popular groups dont really promote there. it gives less known artists opportunity to shine and also win. bts won their first music show trophy on "the show".

The music shows arent jacked per se, but the criteria does make it harder for some more than others. out of all these years i only remember a few times, where they issued some internal mistake notice, could be real could be convenient. there's diff shows. there's one where they place higher importance on global platforms, so grps which might be from non big3 in kr but managed to have a decentish intl fd stand a chance in winning there. there's one where phys sales get so many points, so smaller grps cant compete with big buying fds. soke have high kr digi criteria so whichever grps(usually big4) got current trending/charting songs can win those. I think small company artists ig are disadvantaged at these shows.

hey guys I just want to say that other groups dont work like BTS. This is what makes BTS so unique and different from others. Like you said we cant imagine even ONE member missing or not being a part of BTS. Even a performance without all the members feels so unfulfilling and empty. But unfortunately other groups dont act like it. Its so easy to remove a member or release music as a "group" without all the members. For example in 17 one member is going for acting career and another to military but they are still releasing music as "17". BTS took a whole break from their group activities because they themselves too counldnt imagine being BTS without each and everyone of them. I am not saying all these other groups dont have a bond but I am pointing out HOW BTS IS A FAMILY AND THEY ACTUALLY LOVE EACHOTHER !!!
also sometimes winning in a music show just comes down to luck. you're a part of less popular group and the industry giants are having their comeback the same week as you? good luck, you're probably wont even be nominated. but when they're "less traffic", not much is going on in the music sphere, winning is easier, even for artists from smaller companies

Yes, there was a lot of invalidation BTS faced bc the overwhelming majority of their fandom was international. It took many years (I’d say until around 2017) for BTS’ Korean following to begin to catch up with their international following. I’d argue that to this day, BTS’ international following outnumbers their domestic following. But yeah, nowadays more non-Big 3 groups are able to stay afloat thanks to having an international following (while lacking significant interest domestically) but back then BTS were the firsts to find themselves in that situation (AND to be succeeding beyond the domestic juggernauts because of it).

there are few different music shows and they kinda vary in their status? idk how to really explain it but you have shows like "inkigayo" which is the most prestigious, they mostly award songs that chart really well. in other shows fan votings are a huge criteria. "the show" is rather unique because really popular groups dont really promote there. it gives less known artists opportunity to shine and also win. bts won their first music show trophy on "the show".
i know Wes is army too, but Steph is such an army lol. While Wes feels more positive and sympathetic when he learning or talking about what the boys went through, i could feel the frustration from Steph. Mind you, this is the tip of the iceberg. My men have been in the military and yet people are to this day still trying to drag them into shit. The music shows arent jacked per se, but the criteria does make it harder for some more than others. out of all these years i only remember a few times, where they issued some internal mistake notice, could be real could be convenient.
there's diff shows. there's one where they place higher importance on global platforms, so grps which might be from non big3 in kr but managed to have a decentish intl fd stand a chance in winning there. there's one where phys sales get so many points, so smaller grps cant compete with big buying fds. soke have high kr digi criteria so whichever grps(usually big4) got current trending/charting songs can win those. I think small company artists ig are disadvantaged at these shows.
I see recs for bangtan universe but id really recommend putting it off unless you're actually invested in the intricacies of the MVs(baby ARMY me really didnt care beyond how pretty it was😭) i only vaguely caught up to thr whole alternate uni
hey guys I just want to say that other groups dont work like BTS. This is what makes BTS so unique and different from others. Like you said we cant imagine even ONE member missing or not being a part of BTS. Even a performance without all the members feels so unfulfilling and empty. But unfortunately other groups dont act like it. Its so easy to remove a member or release music as a "group" without all the members. For example in 17 one member is going for acting career and another to military but they are still releasing music as "17". BTS took a whole break from their group activities because they themselves too counldnt imagine being BTS without each and everyone of them. I am not saying all these other groups dont have a bond but I am pointing out HOW BTS IS A FAMILY AND THEY ACTUALLY LOVE EACHOTHER !!!

also sometimes winning in a music show just comes down to luck. you're a part of less popular group and the industry giants are having their comeback the same week as you? good luck, you're probably wont even be nominated. but when they're "less traffic", not much is going on in the music sphere, winning is easier, even for artists from smaller companies
