  • This is back in 2015, when I was operating this 345D, and still worked with tasks like this.😅
    I`m not that fond of tasks like this today, but I thought that cover jobs was fun back in the days.. 🤪
    It is a precition task, where the blast manager stands on top of the blast while directing where he/she wants to lay down the mats for best result and safety!
    watch us cover this tiny blast with rubber mats made of wires and old truck tires!😋
    Enjoy!🙏

    Getting ready for the blast sure beats covering with dirt.

      Hehe, covering a blast with dirt, can be done where one doesn’t need the rock afterwards.😅👌 But dirt infects the blasted rock, making the entire blast as waste material!
      I do like big blasts done without cover like this the best though, less job without having to collect all the mats in the pile..🤪 Bit this is about the only option we have when we blast close to houses and other fragile objects.🙃
      Thanks for still sticking around, even though I have been offline lately!🙏

    Viewed 10-17-21 from USA Hi Barnard, Under what type digging operations would you use the bucket pointed forward ? I think the LEVERAGE FACTOR would be a dis-advantage on the dipper cylinder ?

      @norwegianearthmovers  2 года назад +3

      Hi Arza!🙋‍♂️ Well, the bucket was only turned that way to be able to reach a little bit further, for this exact task!🙂 Those rubber mats don’t weigh more that about 1.5 tons, so it’s not any issues regarding the cylinder. To dig like this, is not anything that’s worth trying, as the geometry of the machine is made to dig inward!😋
      You can see that I used a chain on the 345, to lift the mats with. That too adds some reach, and reach is everything when stretching over the rock. Haehre uses 3-4 meter long jib’s when covering blasts, that is even more safe and efficient! When lifting with chain like I did here, I need a guy to hook he chain on one side, and one guy to unhook it on the other. Every tool that makes sure that people can stay on safe distance, is much better than to have people in the risk zone like this!🙃
      Luckily, I have never hurt anyone, but the risk is always there if anyone needs to be in a machines working area!
