After they come to an agreement, the scene shows everyone walk away, and then Vito puts his hand on Phil's back as if to comfort him. I think that very intentional shot was eluding to something between the two of them.

I get short of breath just watching Gandolfini in the later seasons. Between his weight gain and the permanently blocked nose it always seems like he can’t breathe.
I actually liked Phil up until he had Bobby and Sil whacked, he seemed like a hothead, but always seemed loyal to the principles of the mafia over any individual, a true old school gangster.
