Such a nice nteresting and educational video brother🤗👍🏽!!! No one has these type of “ field welding videos” that are so helpful to us welders who work out in the field! Your knowledge and skills are impressive! 💪🏽☺️
Hi are you in Alberta? You have a very steady hands while doing tig. Also I have been copying your technique in doing root pass. Thank you so much for doing this videos.
Thank you so much! Your every video gets better and better. Great and clear arc shots and narration. By the way, how stressful is to weld such a pipe where every mistake is a cut out? For example if there's a tiny cold wire you would just go over that place with increased amperage or this is not allowed? Are you constantly being watched by QS guys while welding?
Hey DM thanks for your comment brother. It is stressful, but that’s the part of our profession. If there is any cold wire in the root, you can just feather out that section and go over with higher or the same amperage, as long as you don’t open your root with grinder should be good. Yes it is closure weld procedure and QC has to be present until root and hot pass is done.
@@X3MTIGhow do you get rid of cold wire on stainless? From my understanding it doesn’t burn out like carbon, but that’s just what I’ve been told, I haven’t worked with enough stainless to know
Fantastic. For me was awesome to see you in action. I’m not a welder and this is helping a lot to understand. I had e question. At the beginning you highlighted the maximum root on the inside. Is this value defined? Any suggestion on the surface finishing for oxygen? Any suggestion in this direction is welcome. Thank you
Cool project and you explain things so well! I'd like to try and adapt your positioning technique as I'm the guy who is "breaking his back" on the bottom of the pipe 😂
Very interesting video! Slick job sir! I was always wandering what's going on in these tents, but now i know. I'm also working in the industry, but not as a welder, though i kind of a want to. It's more like a hobby and passion to me. I want to ask you 2 questions: 1st is, as you are in a kind of a confined space and working with inert gasses, do you use external breathing air line for your helmet or any kind of a life support system? 2nd is, Are you working in the Netherlands? Thanks again for the great video, very educational! God bless you!
Hey bud thanks for your comment. Yes, any work in closed area,, and working with inert gases is considered as confined space. There is special procedure set in place for that, constant air monitoring performed by man watch, and I don’t use any air supply apparatus. The Only inert gas that is present in that tent is one coming out of my tig torch, so nothing to be worried about. To answer your last question, no, I’ve never worked in Netherland.
@@6pekXX correct, the spool is filled with inert gas, but on one end is where you purge, and on the other end is your vent holes, and you weld in the middle, so not much in the tent where you perform your work or just minimum .
Beginner here in pipe stainless Tig more tube gas and water line than anything else why would you low the gas perge at 9 to 12 like what would it change ???
Thanks buddy. That’s a process to be a good welder, you gotta burn to learn, there is no other way around. Thanks for your support, and I hope my videos will help you on your way to be a great welder one day. Good luck 👍
Regarding the color on the purged side, how much color is allowed?? Welding food grade pipes not even a slight yellow is allowed, I’d imagine any oxygen pipe to have higher demands…
Hey bud thanks for your comment. There is no specific instructions on the root colour, I like it nice, clean and shiny. Any discolouration that might occur is from the heat input on your filler passes and cap. The main thing with oxygen line no any debris or grease inside the pipe, thats the biggest issue and max allowance for root protrusion, which was in my case 2 millimeters. Root colour makes more sense for food grade piping like you said , as it’s a food processing.
@@X3MTIG shit I finally figured it out, the cold laps were the restarts.... never terminate your puddle quickly and remove the rod before you do, always move a bit behind of the solidified puddle when you restart, give that puddle some time before you move, always move ahead of the fusion when you fuse the welds... It explains basically why my roots came out perfect- with the root connecting them and restarting them is very visually obvious thing- metal is melting, time to add the rod.
I’ve been welding for 2 years now and I have 0 clue how you are able to roll your wrist so many times without stopping your motion it genuinely doesn’t make sense to me
My god if I welded as bad as those dudes who did the welds in the beginning then I just wouldn’t take the test 😂 there’s no way there’s wider out there just randomly signing up for weld tests like these knowing they can’t do it
Omg!! It seems like mission impossible to me, I can hardly even tig weld, and making 2mm root seems like a science fiction to me🤷🏽♂️. So, no grinding at all??? And all these tests?? 🤦🏽♂️
Gracias por el vídeo y tomarte el tiempo para explicarlo detalladamente...desde Argentina un seguidor más...excelente Gracias
