This theme brings back so many memories. I worked night shift at a Toys R Us as a kid, and this demo disc was in our "R Zone" gaming area (which was alarmed at night, so we couldn't enter). It would repeat this theme every few minutes, every night...until it was burned into my brain. I love the tune but, ironically, I've never played the game.
You have an Xbox One or 360? The Zone of the Enders HD Collection is available. Not sure what price it is, I got it free with my Xbox membership, but I wouldn't expect anything more than $50 at absolute worst. It's pretty good. There are some level design "quirks" that kinda require you know what's going on beforehand (looking DIRECTLY at you, Microwave Radiation Boosters) and the camera can be a bit of a pain, but combat is generally fun, the story's not too out there considering it's a Hideo Kojima game, the bosses are fun, and the soundtrack is brilliant. There's even an unlockable local-multiplayer PVP mode which is... kinda token, but still fun.

This song is so beautiful. Talk about nostalgia?! It brings me back to such a peaceful moment of my adolescent years. I’ll be listening to this FOREVER.
Easily some of the top 25 games on PS2 which on my opinion has the best overall games, good graphics don’t mean nothing if your story, music and overall concept aren’t as good.
This game has such a creepy air about it, in music, plot, and theme, and I love it. It's just so discomforting that, even though it's really not that deep at all, it REALLY looks like it. Normally this would be stupid, and a bad thing, but the game's good enough I'm letting it pass. Besides, inexplicable discomfort is always a good thing!
I agree. I also feel a sense of uneasiness about the game's atmosphere, especially the music. I think this was intentional so that the players will feel out of place and get immersed into the futuristic setting.
zxad And, I mean, unease was a super common theme in the late nineties through the early new millennium, a symptom of postmodernism slowly diffusing through the general population in the wake of a draining Cold War.
Zorf96 I know exactly what you mean. Also the fact this came out around the 9/11 era it made me feel real uneasy especially since I live in ny. The whole beginning sequence reminded me of that day.
Wow im actually the opposite. The electronic music in the game really struck me and i feel like helped influence the main genre i like now, EDM. I just liked that these wonky weird even alien noises culd make a beat that really captures the game well, the music itself makes me envision a kinda digital-esque grid landscape similar to Tron. I also LOVE glitchy effects and sometimes even disorienting effects in music, which ZOE offers, look at the main menu, the womens voice is full of echoes and has light distorting that gives it a synthetic taste and a psychedelic sprinkle that trips me out.

I miss this game. Its the only ever game that actually succeeded in capturing the spirit and action of mecha anime like Gundam and expressing it in video game form. I seriously expected nothing less from Hideo Kojima. Yoji Shinkawa also did a good job with the mecha here. The song's good too.
*-* holly mother of ...... I finally found it! This was the soundtrack from the game of my childhood... zone of the enders, now I remember. And this game is from Kojima as well *0* I'm so embarrassed that I noticing this only now because Kojima is my absolut favourite game developer of all times but at the other side I'm so happy to found this again and to know that I am a tue kojima fan because I loved one of his games even though I didn't know that it was from him. He is just an artist. Metal gear will always be my favourite kojima made game anyway but now I see the similarities between mgs and ZoE so clearly. The touch of the soundtracks, the craphics, the artwork, the total original feeling and even the whole look is total mgs (you know .... hexagon and so on)
@EderStudiosHD: Same, I had the PS2 version of the first game and played it to death. Have the PS3 version but stuck on Zoe 2 which I never played on PS2 so the Viola Ai is hard for me. I have the UK version of the game so only hear the English lyrics to this tune - the Japanese version is so sweet.
I played this in 8th grade and now I’m about to be 30... damn, only 10 years to go before the big mid life crisis of being old. Such is the cruel flow of time.
This is the most beautiful Intro song of every game I played, it gives me a nostalgia feeling, even if the first time i've played this game was like 2-3 years ago
I love this song, it's so serene yet unsettling like the game's atmosphere itself. I like to think it was purposefully unsettling to make us understand how Leo felt as a 15 year old who's parent's don't want him and who's being bullied by even those who he calls friends to suddenly get thrust into the center of conflict and experience the horrors of war.
I still remember the first time I played this free game that came with the MGS2 Demo I bought. As it turned out ZOE was a “pretty good” game! This song brings back so many flashbacks.
This brings me back far far in time, Life was good as a kid! No problems around me just having fun everyday. And i had people around me that time with a lot of love in there hearts. Sad enough they past away.. this song gives me the peace that i need in this cold world.
You know, when playing the game, this song makes me feel some kind of peace before the fighting begins. But after watching Idolo, it makes me feel every level of sadness. 😞
It's comming to ps4 and pc with VR FUCKIN SUPPORT!! When I first saw that I was overwelhemed with emotions and this song made those emotions even stronger FFS! I'm just wayy too happy right now FOOK!
Till this day this song still sends chills down my spine....This and DMC were the first 2 games that made the ps2 great. If the collection is only on ps3 then i will get one just to play this again.
You're very right about that. I remember playing this as a 4 year-old, nothing terrified me more than Nephitis, she was intimidating, had a ruthless pilot, and powers that weren't held back. For me it was terrifying to see that brutality and the fact that when the wrong people get their hands on the wrong things, stuff like that does actually happen as in the case of Antilia.
Even the Beyond The Bounds being more fast and dynamic, I prefer the first theme. Is much more serene and fits greatly with the game's mood! Wanna see a next Z.O.E. using the Fox Engine!
Twero Produções after all the trouble between kojima and konami i'm starting to see yhat we may never see another decent game from konami... including IPs like Z.O.E and metal gear
It's "Beyond The Bounds", but your misspell legit makes me wanna make a remix of Beyond The Bounds with Ace Combat music, since Pixy talks about borders in AC0.
Beautifully written and beautifully sung. This game needs a remake 🎼"Fantamia,Tempesta Its my Oddyssey. Go higher and wonder Heart of a labyrinth Until I feel new bloom In the silent sea Sing for me your song Angel heart,so many hurt Kiss me Sunlight Fly to the dark Set soul free Hold me moonshine Until my rumble hand Lead to the end of time Find me in your Eyes
Beautiful song. Always reminds me of how in ZoE1 you play as a clueless little boy who finds his way in a powerful mecha and fight for his life, all the while trying to save everyone he loves. I think the fact they used children to sing this song really fits the plot of the game well.
After failing to beat the game back when it came out (more likely the first search mission; Raptor thingy) and buying the HD release, I'm disappointed by how short the game was. But then I sat there and praised it for the music, story and overall depth the game had. Really wish they would remake it with todays graphics.. That would be awesome.
I remember this being on my first Jampack CD for my PS2 back in 2001 (wow!) and instantly falling in love with this game BECAUSE of the song, but as soon as they made me pilot Jehuty.... It was all just pure beauty and astonishment at that point. =D I loved this game A LOT. It was so cool! Even though I was only 11 at the time, I can see how it was rated M, ESPECIALLY with the deaths of the KIDS in the beginning, which really got to me, and Celvice's situation, haha. Still love it though!!
I see a lot of sad comments that wish they would continue the franchise but we know they won’t due to low demand. But I have no doubt this game has inspired many people and some of those people will go on to be developers, and some of those developers will make a homage to ZOE and we will see it’s influence in other games yet to come.
I've still got it and it's always been one of my favorite my games. Then one day i remember a part of the song and i couldn't get it out of my head and i just couldn't remember where i heard it from. Then the next day i looked through my PS2 games and it was there i remembered....Zone of the Enders!
Years late, but here I am... if you guys are still out there, just wanna say the singer group is Heart of Air and you might like their other song Blue Flow... Cap Out !
After about 15+ years of playing the game and listening to this masterpiece, I finally find it again. Oh the memories of controlling Jehuty and kicking robot ass (I don't even remember the plot anymore, that's how bad my memory is). The thought of living on a moon of Jupiter of all places, I thought you could travel to other planets just for the sake of exploration. It's just so astounding. I find it disappointing to forget such a poor soul like Leo all these years :'(. I remember my brother borrowed this demo disc with the game on there but I always skipped the title straight to the gameplay. The title itself, Zone of the Enders is so kickass to me now. I saw a walkthrough and couldn't believe what I missed. (TBH I was expecting there to be like big monster bosses to fight instead of just same enemies and the rival.) But the story, characters and music definitely make up for it. I'd replay it again most likely. The only lyrics that have stuck with me since then was 'find me in your eyes.' All it took was a RUclips search of 'Giant Robot Games' to find it. I wish they continued the series today. Thank you for the upload! It unlocked a memory I never thought I'd hear and see to this day.

If only the majority of COD or Battlefield fans (I have nothing against them btw) could recognise such brilliant surreal & creative video games such as this - I can't get enough of Japanese fast paced & imaginative games like this & Sin & Punishment! Can't wait for the HD Collection editions!

I agree as well
Zorf96 I know exactly what you mean.
Definitely a hidden gem back in the day! dam im old
Underrated song.
Underrated game
True. Most of the fans out there just prefer Beyond the Bounds, but this one is always going to be my favorite of the two

I miss this game. Its the only ever game that actually succeeded in capturing the spirit and action of mecha anime like Gundam and expressing it in video game form. I seriously expected nothing less from Hideo Kojima. Yoji Shinkawa also did a good job with the mecha here. The song's good too.
Sunrise, the studio behind Gundam, is responsible for the animation in The 2nd Runner, as well as the HD Collection intro. 😊
The touch of the soundtracks, the craphics, the artwork, the total original feeling and even the whole look is total mgs (you know .... hexagon and so on)
I feel old now :/
Me too and now we're even older :'(
@EderStudiosHD: Same, I had the PS2 version of the first game and played it to death.
@@MarcoLongoMusic even older bruhs
Tony78454 much much older...
Definitely the sort of music that lets you know High Speed Robot action is coming 'eh fellas?
I'm too intoxicated to use words. But music is a language who speaks to everyone. It's a language everyone can understand.
U Know what would be epic Zone it the enders on oculus rift and two Touch controll pads
Mind blown.
*BRAIN MATTER AND SKULL FRAGMENTS EVERYWHERE*
I'd never stop playing.
Well now it's coming out for PSVR!
If the collection is only on ps3 then i will get one just to play this again.
that magical feeling you got when you saw this opening
I play both ZOE's when I was NINE YEARS OLD! Im 27 now holy shiit!!
Zone of the Enders 1 never gets enough attention, the part at 3:32 always gives me chills
Its sad konami doesn't make games like this anymore
Gets even better with time !
Every time I listen to this song I feel like I'm floating in space....epic....
ADAは最高!
ほんとイイ歌だね!
KillerX629
Yeah, I know... :/
This comment aged well. :(
It's "Beyond The Bounds", but your misspell legit makes me wanna make a remix of Beyond The Bounds with Ace Combat music, since Pixy talks about borders in AC0.
Beautifully written and beautifully sung. This game needs a remake
🎼"Fantamia,Tempesta

Until I feel new bloom

Sing for me your song

Hold me moonshine

youre a god
That nostalgia give me this game, I played it when I was 10 years old and right now I just me finish. :')
I wonder if even 1 person will still be playing this game or the sequel in the year 2172(the year the game takes place in).
Everything about Zoe is awesome especially the music! Takes me to a place of wonder and adventure, will always be one of my top 10 memories.😍
Beyond the boundsの影に隠れがちな気もするけど、こちらもいい曲
Beautiful song. Always reminds me of how in ZoE1 you play as a clueless little boy who finds his way in a powerful mecha and fight for his life, all the while trying to save everyone he loves.
I think the fact they used children to sing this song really fits the plot of the game well.
After failing to beat the game back when it came out (more likely the first search mission; Raptor thingy) and buying the HD release, I'm disappointed by how short the game was. But then I sat there and praised it for the music, story and overall depth the game had. Really wish they would remake it with todays graphics.. That would be awesome.
Classic. The nostalgia of this game.
I remember this being on my first Jampack CD for my PS2 back in 2001 (wow!) and instantly falling in love with this game BECAUSE of the song, but as soon as they made me pilot Jehuty.... It was all just pure beauty and astonishment at that point. =D
I loved this game A LOT.
やっぱり木村さんの歌声は綺麗だな✨
brings me back... 😢
God I'm old.
I keep imagining the end of ZOE 2167 IDOLO, when this song plays......man Radium's story is quite sad...
yip.. this was definitely a downer... :(
he went down like a badass tho
TonyBMan Well if you consider almost destroying the Earth, and thus all of humanity, badass, then sure lol.
TonyBMan Well if you consider almost destroying the Earth, and thus all of humanity, badass, then sure lol.
TheRevanchists Except in the ZOE universe humans also live on Mars....sooo, you comment about ending humanity is false.
A man can only take so much nostalgia...
I've still got it and it's always been one of my favorite my games. Then one day i remember a part of the song and i couldn't get it out of my head and i just couldn't remember where i heard it from. Then the next day i looked through my PS2 games and it was there i remembered....Zone of the Enders!
Banger on bangers.
I’ll rebuild you A.D.A., just you wait…
Beautiful.
The deaths of Leo's friends really shocked me too, i was 12 at the time
oh my gosh i had forgotten all about this soooong. so awesome to stumble on it again
Nostalgia !
God this music. Still gets me
zone really remids me of evangelion
I'd rather not realize that as a comparison as ZOE was awesome and evangelion scarred me for life!
*****
It's more funny than scarring.

just been playing this via pcsx2. I had the demo in 2000. High speed mech action. gotta love it
I wish this franchise would get another title...though with Konami being fuckwits it's def dead, :[
+Nick Santillo (Nickywhat) Same, I'm dying for Z.O.E 3
+Nikki S. (Nickywhat) try kid icarus uprising. same gameplay + loot system from borderlands and good humor! ;)
+Anubis Neomatrix
Kid Icarus: Uprising has NOTHING on Zone of The Enders.
+WiredUSER maybe, but compare the gameplay to zoe. there are strong similarities
Perhaps Mr. Kojima can now work on a spiritual successor ;P

Well ZoE3 is coming and Kojima even stated even if Sales were low he would still make the game as far as I've heard that coming so REJOICE! :D
:(
This song is fantastic.
If only the majority of COD or Battlefield fans (I have nothing against them btw) could recognise such brilliant surreal & creative video games such as this - I can't get enough of Japanese fast paced & imaginative games like this & Sin & Punishment!
Can't wait for the HD Collection editions!
The reason i popped this in several times without even playing it, this song.
This song never fails to put a smile on my face.
The same for me, and when I finally remembered the game's name, I went and bought it immediately at Gamestop for $3 and beat it the same day I bought it. Really tense at the point where you had the Virus.
Zone of the enders que increible juego de la ps2
"Soon, I can be with Radium again... Guide me, Neith."
[speeds off to Antilia colony as this song begins and the end credits roll]
-Still one of the best endings to any anime OVA ever. Its use in the game is also great.
One of the most beautiful game songs ever IMO.
I have this song for my Gundam, buddy complex, cross ange, fullmetal panic units in SRW V and SRW X on my PS VITA,it’s really fitting.
I have not heard this song in like 5 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing, I love it
I would by a PS3 just for Zone of the Enders 3 and I love my 360
tHeWasTeDYouTh Hope you take a third listen 11 years later :)
@@RECTANGLESWITHEYES 11 years and I still love ZOE. I got the PS4 ZOE 2nd Runner MARS. listening to this great song again
Going to likely use the song when am building the High Grade Lfrith and Aerial both units from Mobile Suit Gundam Witch From Mercury.
PURE GREATNESS
God ! So many memories running through my head...AMAZING!
Nostalgiccccccc
This song brings back so many memories. The ZoE series, to this day, remains my absolute favourite. Perfection.
I REALLY hope there'll be a mention of ZoE3 at E3 this year :O
Wow, this brings back memories Z.O.E was my first PS2 game... And I still love it.
15 years ago.... god damn
