Thx SO MUCH for doing this video!! I'm 53 and started going natural about 5 years ago but i wasn't doing it right either. I didn't do the big chop, i wasn't eating right, i have an autoimmune disease, and then, i was under a lot of stress. Plus, i HATED drinking water.
Trying to find the right products was a chore too. My daughter went natural and the products she used didn't work for me. I started getting depressed. I had a heart attack last year, and started dealing with that by changing my diet and drinking water. I found two product lines that work really nice to keep my hair moisturized (Hydratherma Naturals and Shea Moisture). It took 5 years for me to grow my hair 4 inches but I've grown almost 5 inches in less than 9 months! I'm Amazed. My hair had even started to thin in the middle to the pount I barely had baby hair because I kept wearing ponytails. STOP DOUNG THAT LADIES! At least for a few months! I'm afraid to put heat on my hair but when i stretch it when its wet, so it's really long (past my shoulders mow even tjough it shrinks up very quickly). So, for any of you ladies who are like me, DONT GIVE UP.
Assess what you are doing (or NOT doing). HONESTLY. And make a new plan. If you can't do everything at once, do 3 things. If you can't do that, do one thing. If you can't do one, STOP doing something that's bad. Even that helps.
I always look at the comments on these hair videos and people say that their hair has grown but they NEVER say what they use.
    Here's my list:
    1. Hydratherma Naturals products:
    a. Clarifying shampoo (full head)
    b. Any conditioner (i use them all), OR Shea Moisture Manuka Honey Intensive conditioner (full head)
    c. Follicle Mist (only on the scalp)
    2. Shea moisture Leave in conditioner (only the day i wash it and I use it like you would if you wre greasing your scalp )
    3. Grapeseed oil (because coconut oil left on my scalp makes me itch!). I put some on my entire head, lightly. Then, i put it only on the ends, daily.
    4. Vitamin B6 (2x/week, 100mg. Made by Solgar)
    5. Vitamin D3 (50,000 units, 1x/week). * get your levels checked FIRST! I only use this much because my levels are very low because of my autoimmune disease (Multiple Sclerosis).
    6. A Slapcap (satin in the inside). I'll be honest: i MIGHT wear it 1x/month during the spring, summer, and fall but I wear one ilunder my winter hats at all times. Again, Im working on this!! We all got our trials. Lol.
    7. No heat. My daughter does heat styles sometimes and her hair is down to her butt (and she started with a TWA). But i just want to wait a bit longer before i try that.
    8. I wash my hair at least once/every two weeks. But try to wash it once/week.
    9. I dont deep conditioning but that's next on the list!!
    10. I use my fingers most of the time to untangle my hair and never comb or brush it if its not wet. I masshae my scalp with my fingers at least once a day for about a minute. It just feels good!
    11. I use one of those combs that the Yao women use (the ladies who live in Asia and have really super long hair). You can buy it from their website. I've never used the "rice water treatment" but i might try it. They show you EXACTLY how to make it on their documentary.
    12. I use one of those green brushes that look like it's a separated hand. You all know what I'm talking about.
    13. I eat chicken, fish, shrimp. No pork but i will eat a hamburger or beef ribs every blue moon.
    13. I mix oatmilk with 2% milk (half and half) for my cereal but use extra creamy oatmilk in any revipe that calls for milk or cream. Otherwise, I stay away from dairy. I eat vegan ice cream, vegan cheese, and plant butter. It REALLY DOES taste the same IF you buy the better products. I eat a piece of fruit and at least one vegetable every day.
    14. I drink at least #4, 16 ounce glasses of water every day. I had to buy this water filter called WaterDrops to like drinking water. It has a charcoal filter and to me, taste so much better than that nasty Brita water. AND it's cheaper.
    15. TMI: I have a bowel movement at least every day and a half.
    16. I lowered my stress by writing, getting a cat, and letting my kids figure out their own problems. I let THEM do the thinking first!L, and if they need some extra advice, then i try to help.
And before you ask: No, I don't exercise. I hate it. But again, I'm working on doing that. I hate it, but just like finding the right hair products, I'll find the right type for me. I lowered my blood pressure (from high 180s/100s to low 130s/70s). I'm still working on that. My cholesterol has improved, and I take my meds EVERY DAY. They no longer make my scalp dry.
And last but certainly not least: I ask God to help me stay on track AND how to improve.
Sorry I made such a long comment but I hope this helps someone. Just like she's given me some very helpful tips to use to help MY hair journey. God Bless! And happy hair growth! ❤

    • @NaturallyCorporate
      @NaturallyCorporate  Год назад +2

Oh my goodness - where do I even begin?? :) I apologize this reply is so late. I was twisting my son's hair when your message came through the other day, and this is my first opportunity to get on my desktop computer. There's no way I could respond from my phone -- too much to say.
#1 - Your very last statement is where it all begins. God is awesome.
I won't address all your points, but it seems like you have your regimen down to a T. except for those few things you want to work on. I curious about the follicle mist, though. Is there a particular brand you use? I'd like to try that.
My scalp doesn't like coconut oil either -- itches like crazy. My hair loves grapeseed oil and argan oil. They're both very lightweight.
I'm SO HAPPY about your blood pressure and cholesterol --- whooh hoo! My friend you are doing such a fantastic job and you're diligent with EVERYTHING. Keep it up and know that you are not alone on your journey. I'm still your cheerleader and I'm glad you're mine, too!
I sincerely appreciate you leaving an informative comment and sharing what you're found works for you. I'm sure others will find it helpful as I did.

    • @AngelaKHarrell
      @AngelaKHarrell Год назад

@NaturallyCorporate Aww, ty. It's been tough (the health thing, I mean), but I try as hard as I can.
OK, the follicle mist I use is by Hydratherma Naturals. I only use it once a month after I wash my hair to add my deep conditioning process. I use it because I have low porosity hair (products have a tough time breaking through my follicle to do their job, so this does the job for me (especially since i don't use any kind of steamer). Some people use a steamer, and it does the same thing; I just prefer not to use heat in any form. If you use it, make sure you have low or normal porosity hair (not high) as it opens up your follicles even more (which high porosity hair doesn't need help to do). Plus, any products you use afterward if you have high porosity hair may irritate the scalp. People say you can use it on dry hair, but since I'm massaging my scalp after I use this and before doing my deep conditioning treatment, I only put it on wet hair to prevent breakage. And put it on your SCALP, NOT your hair!! Otherwise, your hair will get hard. I rub it in and let it sit for about 5 minutes. THEN, I do all of my other stuff so my products can get down into my roots. After the time I need to deep condition is up, I rinse everything out. And use a slightly cooler than lukewarm rinse to seal everything back up. You've allowed the cuticles to be open long enough for the leave-in conditioner (also only applied to the roots) to do THEIR job.
I think if people learned their hair porosity, they could pick the right products for their hair. Learning your hair porosity is as simple as dropping a piece of hair in a glass of water! Free! And I love free!

I am 70 and my hair is fine like yours, and during COVID 2020; my hair was twisted up, no color for most of the year. My daughter got married in March 2021 and I colored it and straighten it out. My hair has never been this long. I do take vitamins and green smoothies daily. I did have some shedding for awhile. Like you I am enjoying my long hair on my way to waist length in my 70’s

For me, I have to set aside the time and do all the things I feel will benefit my hair. And I enjoy that time b/c it’s for ME. ☺️ I appreciate you for backing up what I shared, and hopefully other women will see your comment.

I'm almost 60 and have been back on this journey for 12 years. The first two times that I went back natural, I was in my 30s. Anyway, on this current journey I was doing good until about 2-3 years ago when I got lazy on taking care of my hair. I didn't revert back to relaxers but I also wasn't giving my hair the best care like I needed to. Thanks to some much younger friends who keep asking me for tips for their hair or their child's hair (they think my hair looks great), I've decided that I needed to start back giving my hair some TLC. So, I've started back watching videos, again. While I appreciate all the videos from the younger RUclipsrs, I miss all of the folks from 12 years ago that I use to follow who were nearer to my age and who seem to have disappeared from You Tube. Looking forward to watching your videos / following your channel as I get my hair back to a healthy state.

Mavis, I'm so glad you stopped by! It's very nice to meet you. I do simple hair styles on my channel - - meaning other than crochet braids here and there, I primarily do twistouts. Lately I've sprinkled in some wigs but it was just a brief Summer Wig series. I get my hair trimmed professionally every 3-5 months, and that's also when my stylist can let me know how my hair is looking. Honestly, I'm greedy. I want health AND length. :) LOL I know that health is what's most important, but I'm a girly girl at heart and I want long hair. So, for as long as it will grow I will be grateful for it. I also have thyroid disease and I shared a video about how it affects my hair. I'm truly just glad my hair seems to be thriving right now. I baby it and really try to be gentle with it. Again, I'm delighted that you took the time to watch my video and leave a comment. I post a video every Friday @ 6:15pm Eastern and sometimes I throw in an extra video if I have time. See you next time!

At nearly 54 I frequently get asked if I have hair extensions because I have tons of hair that will grow to any length I desire including halfway down my back if I want. My tips: I've never had a hair weave or extensions of any sort., I've never braided my hair much less tightly, I limit blow dryers and hot tools to 3x week. While I relax it every 8 weeks I don't also bleach it and add in a bunch of funky colors. I exercise regularly. Balanced diet.
I don't buy expensive shampoos. It's my belief that frying your hair and bleaching and over weaving it... there is no shampoo that's going to counteract that effectively. Love your video 🌷.

I think that hormonal changes after 35 AND having children after 35 has changed my hair. Learning from you is really helpful. I swear my hair looks just like yours when it’s straight and curly. I’m sure there are subtle differences but it’s similar enough. Thank you for the time you put in. Please keep posting. If you ever want to try something to make a video about I’ll be happy to try it out with you.
I’m going to do henna and indigo in two weeks for the first time. I’ll let you know how it goes for me.

Feedback like yours is what inspires me to keep creating content. I am a very real and down to earth person with the same daily life challenges as other moms & wives may have. I’m the lady next door. ☺️. Underneath it all I’m just a ‘girl’ who wants to look my best. Let me know about the henna & indigo. I have no experience w/ henna at all, but I’ve heard it can change your curl pattern (May or may not be true- just sharing). I’ll definitely let you know when I try something else. I REALLY appreciate you! 💕💕✨✨

NaturallyCorporate, your down to Earth vibe comes off flawlessly. Keep creating. I don’t know what it takes to get a huge following but I like what you do. It suits you but is also adaptive and informative. I bet your corporate background seeps into your videos in some way too.
I’ve been leery of henna since I first learned of it. That was three years ago. I got my hair back to being at least moisturized consistently because I use diy herbal oils and butters. I also you tea rinses and spritz.
Knowing that Aruvedya works I’m confident I’ll get a good result from my henna and indigo treatment. I want the strengthening benefits the Lawson dye adds from henna. I have a few grays that I adore but I’d rather use indigo to make them darker brown opposed to orange. I’ve been researching for three years a practice that’s been around for centuries. What can go wrong? I’ve done an allergy test so I know I’ll live. I will keep you posted on my henna treatment.
Your hair color is beautiful as is. I have simple jet black hair so I don’t think the henna/indigo dye will do too much. If you’re interested you should try some of the other herbs that don’t release dye to protect your natural color.

Hello! I told you I’d let you know how the henna treatment went. It’s absolutely wonderful. There are some cons but the pros far out weigh them. The worst parts is it’s messy and time consuming. It took a few tries and a clogged drain to get a system together that minimized both time and mess. My hair is so nice after just four treatments. (I’ve done 2 glosses then 2 full henna masks in the past three weeks. Only the last mask I consider successful so I’m not experiencing any set backs. I’ll try to post my 30s video with before and after pictures. Please take a look if you have a chance and let me know what you think. I like it a lot and my hair feels great!! I’m still working on my seafood pasta video. Turns out I’m a much better chef than I am a camera person, in front or behind, and video editor. But I have time to learn so I’ll take advantage.

But I do agree I need to go yo my beautician and let her cut me and my daughter's hair with the remaining strands of perm hair. We have stopped using the perm for about a year and we do the crochet braids which I like alot. We keep our scalp moisturized so it doesn't get dry.
