    I got my HS PHEV on June 1st and added 2000 miles in the next 7 weeks, a mixture of local EV and longer fast A road journeys. MPG is not really relevant as it’s about cost total of fuel and electricity in relation to miles travelled, my first month was about 16 pence per miles (60 mpg on the cars long term average consumption display). But the car changes the way you drive and you try to deplete as much EV range as possible on each journey, this is reducing cost per mile drastically. I charge at home for 31p per KWh but this is about to reduce to 9.5p KWh with Octopus Go EV tariff. I’ve come to MG from a BMW 420d Gran Coupe (a great car), but I am genuinely blown away by how good this MG is and the incredible value for money it offers.

      Thank you Peter for your experience in the HS, we recently had an Egg charger on Octopus installed and the savings compared to street are night and day, plus it’s time you get back if it’s at home rather than a supermarket etc. It’s great you can see the changes first hand from ICE, my driving style changes whenever I enter anything EV etc, yet I still enjoy driving the as much, I do miss the sound though.

    As with all hybrids, the savings are around town and B roads, so although the MPG on long motorway trips is poor, its more than cancelled out for normal day to day driving. Plus there is the low purchase price, and the extra performance the hybrid offers.

      Very true, this is why we mention PHEV’s don’t suit all, especially if your doing primarily motorway miles. Thank you Stephen

    Hi guys as this ones now a deleted shape , can you do a short reveiw on the newly tweaked and slightly redesigned hs trophy with auto box . I am a little sad that the glass roof has been dropped( shame) which although not a utter deal breaker , made it a bit special .
    Has the previous very laggey info centre ,prey been upgraded ? , plus 10 out 10 comfort for rear passengers (well done mg) did mg carry over the rear seat back with the original tilting function? Ps they don't do the colour your driving anymore , shame .

    Be interesting to know what the rough cost per mile of your road trips are? Everyone is pushing for EV’s but at 50p per kwh (average price) are they still cheaper per mile than say a PHEV or diesel? Charging station near me is now £1.10 per kwh

    Wow much more expensive than a diesel suv I get 50 mpg out of a diesel Sorento 7 seater AWD 35 to 40 mpg city. However this is excellent real world video I think it’s best on RUclips. So it’s really want you need the car for. Australia. That cruise control is excellent. Some ice cars use the brakes to slow the car rather annoying. Overall still best value cars on the road. mpg is just one cost of a motor vehicle.

    Hi Guys. Love the video. Do you know roughly what the mpg was for the trip? And how much electricity you put in? Really interested in the MG, the battery would cover most of my daily commute but with a two weekly 500 mile round trip I can't quite figure out if it makes sense.

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  Год назад +1

      Thank you Marc, it depends on the roads / speed you travel with a hybrid on whether you get super economy. If you’re charging at home it’ll be more cost effective. An EV may actually be more cost effective say the MG4, do you want a petrol engine? Il check the other info you were interested in😊

    • @marcgoodey9968
      @marcgoodey9968 Год назад

      Thanks for getting back to me. I think I'm really after averages rather than specifics of driving style etc. My trip is mainly motorway and A roads, average speed of around 50 mph for a trip of 250 miles. I can't really stretch to a full ev, and can't find one that will do the trip on a single charge (in the winter, with a full car and mostly motorways the range seems to be roughly half the published one). Skoda have a tool for this on their site for working out range based on different criteria.

      I honestly don’t know, they both have there strengths, I like SUVs and cars, it would depend on what I needed it for. The new Civic is fantastic however I’d go for R, and due to it being just Annabelle and I likely MG4, HS is a good SUV but I did expect it to be more economical on motorways etc, great in villages mind - eHEV efficient across the board. Hope that helps somewhat Mike
