But at the end of the day, these people DID have records. Imagine going down to the basement for records and seeing no records.
That would somehow be way worse 🤣
Hahaha 🤣
...and the owner dude wearing his favorite victoria secrets
It puts the lotion on the skin
@@geldofpunk32 "Goodbye Horses" by Q Lazarus starts playing in the background
The last two situations had me on the edge of my seat. I think the last guy wanted to show you his 12” single…😂😂😂 So glad you survived, we need you and the records and videos. ✌
🤣🤣🤣
That guy's still out there somewhere... the thong remains the same.
It was only a 7"
@@biffboffo So not the Aerosmith Big 10" then...
GOTTA call the cops on the second guy who pulled the gun.
Glad you're still with us after all that. People are "unique".
Haha yes they are. Thanks for watching! 🙏
Indiana Dillon And The Search The Holy Grail! 😆
I love stories like this. As someone who did antiquing for years I so relate to these tales.
Dude, you were right about just taking Benadryl. When I lived in Southern California I got bit by a spider and started having awful cramps and the same symptoms as you. I went to the ER and guess what they said….take Benadryl you’ll be fine. Lol
YUP! Saved thousands!
Which is weird because if you take too much Benadryl people report hallucinating spiders. Never done it myself but I've heard it isn't fun.
Dillon, this was hands-down the best Vinyl Community video i have EVER seen - OMG!!! So glad you made it out of those situations to live to tell about them!!! Northern New Jersey loves you :)
I just found your channel and am starting my own collection at 17 thanks to you. Much love!
So glad to hear!!! Thanks!
You'll learn about a lot of killer records from this great guy
aye i started recently at 17 too
These are the types of stories I love!
I can tell by you username 🤣
Great storytelling & good reminders to stay aware & safe. Thanks for sharing these!
Great stories! You gotta tell us more. I’ve always been nervous about going to a stranger’s house to buy records, you’re a lot braver than me.
Crazy.
Glad you’ve been ok.
Thanks for sharing this wise advice.
Let's start a band and call it The Scandalous Undergarments.
Great stories, man. Thanks for sharing them.
TB
I would, but I keep breaking my G string
Holy crap, Dillon! Those are really crazy stories! I'm glad you aren't taking those same risks. You're a lucky man!!!
Great stories Dillion ! The perils of being a vinyl junkie !!!
How did I not see this video yet? You're a great storyteller, man! The story with the guy and the gun is insane!!
The reason why I love your channel is your storytelling skills. I can really feel the passion and your descriptive skills are so vivid and visual that you are able to take us there at the actual scene by imagination. Well done mate!
Your stories hit home. Was a real estate broker for over 20 years and have “stories” too… take care and happy holidays !
Oh gosh I bet
Just found your channel and I’ve been enjoying your content. This video hit home for me (literally). I live in NC as well, while there are a lot of crazy people in the world generally, some of the people here in the small towns of NC are a special flavor of wacko that keeps me looking over my shoulder, refusing drinks, and declining dinner invitations. Not just with records, but it seems like anytime someone is selling something it’s in their damn basement!
Amazing stories, glad you are safe after all that!!
Me too! Thanks for watching! 🙏
2nd story shows you have some gangster in you too! LOVE IT!
Great stories, and I can relate to the passion of the chase!
Hilarious stories, dude. Glad you made it out alive!
Epic!! Please tell more record tales. 👍🏻👍🏻
Wow… 😂 Damn, Dillon. Glad ya made it out of those situations. A lotta weirdos out there, man. I’ve bought my share of collections, but there was one I went to see where all the records were in the garage and his living room. He said something like, “all the good records are in the basement”. (Those damn basements! lol) Sounded a bit fishy, and I was getting weird vibes from the guy anyway. He kept asking how much $ I brought with me. Told him I’d be back with a uhaul or my friends truck, and never went back…
Haha yeah you gotta trust your gut
It wasn’t leopard print.. it was cheetah.. and I’m still interested in selling that Led Zeppelin 3 Reel to Reel..
I like how the scandalous underwear guy spooked you more than the guy shooting at ya! I think I would have been the same way ...especially post Silence Of The Lambs era. lol
After hearing this, glad I bought all the vinyl I wanted back when it was released, or when chain record stores were around in the 1970's/1980's, and I bought new releases/reissues from those places (like "Musicland"). Have nearly 600 LPs in my collection, before I switched to the CD format in 1984. Always enjoy your videos here!
How many cds did the store have first time you seen them? When I seen the first cd player on display at Sears they only had 1 cd to sell, Pink Floyd dark side. Then few weeks later they added John cougar uh huh cd.
@@kensims4086 Bought my first CD player at Sears in 1984. They had a small display in the back corner of the record section, maybe 20 or so titles (back when they came in those large clear plastic blister packs. I bought The Police "Synchronicity" and Madonna "Like A Virgin" the day I bought the player. Still have them.
Best vid yet! Glad you’re still doin what you love
Thanks!
Haha great video. Who knew saying you have records for sale at your house would be a way people used to take advantage of people. Now we know. Thanks Dylan.
Great storys man 😂😂🙏
Great Stories!! You Are My Vinyl Hero!! I'LL Tell Sonny The Stories!! To Cement Your Legend Here In Beaufort!!! Lol !!!!
Yikes!!!! Great video and a good reminder to listen to your gut!
Yes! That’s the best advice!
Jeez, that was terrifying (especially those last two)!! Someone must have been looking out for ya!
Thanks. That's actually important info. I recently turned down an offer to go into the basement to look at records at a person's house out in the country.
Great stories!!! 😂🙏🙏
Great video Dillon. You should be posting on Rachels Ghost Channel.........Mike In Groove is there.😉
Wow, I often wondered how it's possible that you consistently find such good records. Now I know, your willing to go the full mile.
The last story killed me 🤣🤣🤣 dude that is insane!
Great story telling
This is exactly the type of situations my parents were worried about when I used to go to stranger’s homes to buy records! I’d always tell them “it’s okay I know what I’m doing” or something like that 🤣
This is deadset the funniest vinyl related youtube video of the year
Haha thanks!
Amazing tales, glad everything turned out ok for ya
Fantastic stuff right here! Something tells me Vinyl Richie could do a “Top Ten Times I Almost Died Buying Records” vid 🤔 😆
I’m sure he could 🤣
Man, this was a video and a half. Made my night! Too bad you didn't get Zep 3 from that last guy, haha.
Yeah too bad 🤣 wasn’t worth it
Dang Silence of the Lambs action on that 3rd story. Aloha 🤙🏽
For sure 🤣😅
What a great vid! :) GREAT stories!!😃
This could have been a Halloween 🎃 episode it was spooky, full Dahlmer vibes … myself I have dug in basements, garages, less than hygienic circumstances, but never attacked, worst situation was an elderly couple who chain smoked and their living room was foggy with cigarette smoke, and so were the records lol, it’s all fun digging in Canada eh
dude The fact you talk about finding these records so casually. In Australia it's WAY harder to find anything good and I end up forking out big prices for the big brands. hope I can find the holy grail someday though. glad you're safe as well
Thanks! I can imagine there aren’t as many records in Australia. Good luck on your digs!
Plenty of digging to do in South Australia... guess it depends where you are. I've had a lot of good stuff falling in my lap this last year or two. Luckily I don't have any life threatening tales to tell - just a few creepy ones.
Glad you’re safe. Have a Merry Christmas
Thanks! 🤣
That basement is a hell of a place.. glad you still with us. 😁
That thumbnail made me laugh out loud when I saw it just now. Love it!
Hahaha
@@noblerecords Sure they werent...now we know how you get your good record deals LOL jkjk
yo that last story had me on the floor I loved it omg
“Sure..What could ever go wrong…” Do you ever watch horror movies?!?! Lol good stories!
Your 3rd story reminds me of a EP of Two And Half Men 9th season where Walden is naked and he sits down on the couch to check his mail Allen and Jake are sitting on the couch with the WTF look.
Really enjoyed this my friend you need to do more videos like this! Would you like a drink.lol
🤣🤣🤣
That last story was hilarious 😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🙏
Lol love these. Though my record hunting stories and the times I almost died are unrelated lol
Haha mine are all related
Amazing stories. You should write that book!
Maybe someday!
Dillon, glad you survived the basements. And at least you didn’t have to put” the lotion in the basket”.😁🤓
I mean, the records were good, but not that good
Best show ever. Like to hear the rest of them
Thanks Art!
Found a 45 by a artist Amerindo he is from Paraguay. From a band called “Los Paraguayos”. Only seen one copy in discogs. Pretty cool. Have a nice day
The last story made me laugh so hard... - waiting for the book to be written ;)
Haha who knows, maybe someday!
Never, Ever, leave Home Without Mr. Ruger…. Or S&W, or Mr. Colt.
Love the stories!
Wow that was wild! Thanks for telling these!
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Man! What an adventure! That last one was waaaay weird!
Wow 🤣🤣🤣 your stories. Don’t go in the basement! Yeah I’m always suspicious of everyone.
Year 3000 after the nuclear holocaust, the mutans are going to use 45 jukebox and play led zeppelin 45 to attract humans to their basement
Hi Dylan wild stories man,There's are alot of nutters out there you just don't know glad your safe !
LMBO!!!! I had a total visual of the guy with the robe and the thong!!!!!
Great stories man
Thanks!
Loved the thumbnail! nice video!
Haha thanks!
Great vid and unique topic!
wow, crazy! Two of those situations likely wouldn't have happened or been as bad here in Canada. I wouldn't even have to consider the hospital cost (might die in the waiting room though lol).. and guns!.. never seen one, don't know what you're talking about. LOL
Those are some wild stories. There are some wild people out their.
There are! Thanks for watching! 🙏
Only dicey situation I ever went into was in a housing project. I knew the dude from the flea market but kept putting off going to his apartment because I knew the reputation of that place. I finally went over there and thankfully there wasn't any issues. He did have some amazing Jazz and Soul as he had said but the conditions were awful. I don't think I bought anything actually.
For a long time I was looking for Bola Sete's "Ocean" album on vinyl. This was back before the internet. One night I checked for it at the old Django Records in Portland OR. They didn't have it, as they and the other stores I checked had not had it (for months). Next morning I was at a bus stop and spent a long time talking to a homeless dude. This cheered the dude up. We had a good conversation. And then that night I went back to Django and they had the album. Karma?
Sad how many ppl have to forego medical assistance for lack of money. Been there!
#3 could’ve led to a Gimp-in-a-box w/Leopard interior situation.
Nice escape maneuver!
nobles wife "you wont ever go to anyones house ever again" noble "ok I won't, but I did 😏".
Great stories, guess I’ve been lucky in my buying career. 🙏
The last story...I would have bolted with the records I had in my pile. It's the least he could do after that shock. lol
good tips man 👍
They taught me in the Army if you almost die doing something then you need to quit doing it!...haha
I changed the way I do it but I’ll never stop! 🤣
Holy Crap! You just never know who’s out there. Just records, man. Just records!
In that last case, you almost got hit with a "backdoor Santa".
good but CRAZY stories man
the Ramones have a song about not going into basements, and putting things in someone drinks
😂 at that last story… aaand that was the last time you asked to see someones 7” collection.
To quote Ron Simmons: “…….DAMN!”. 😐 Definitely should do a book at some point. Or revive the podcast. Sincerely, a Legit Person from St. Louis
Bahaha great stories.
if you could turn the camera around on your viewers of this, all you'd see is thousands of those michael jackson eating popcorn memes. crazy crazy stories
Hahahaha 🤣
Good for you man! I wouldn't let him have my money either!
Jeffery Dollar ...lol thats the first time ive heard that one ..lol
🤣
Damn you almost got caught by buffalo bill in that last one!
😅
@@noblerecords it puts the drink in its mouth or it gets a beating ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Lol, I don't drink alcohol either, but I spend my money on vinyl. 😅
Whoa what stories!! The last one, he obviously took a liking to you 🫢😂 glad you got out safe !
Haha yes, long story but I bumped into him a couple more times over the years, just randomly
Moral of the story. Stay out of people's basements with records in and remember that they can't shoot you in the back. If I'm ever in America. Handy information to have.
Dillan no, he wasn’t a nice guy, Mr. Charlie was about to break you off, you did the right thing by getting the hell outta there man!!! You do need to write a book Tales of the unknown Record Collector. The Black Widow and gun story was truly giving it all for your passion. Way to go to live to tell the tale and all of this has fueled your success!!!
Hey Dylan - great stories & advice! Since you said Led Zeppelin III is your favorite album of all-time, I wanted to ask what you think the value is of a Zep III copy I have. I have a Greek pressing that was bought in Greece in the early 1980s. It is pristine, likely played once or twice only. It has a gatefold cover but the front is only a picture of the wheel - not a functional wheel. This was how it was made and is not a spinning wheel that is broken. I also have a Led Zep II Greek pressing that is a gatefold cover, except the outside color is black instead of brown. Both of these are on Atlantic. Any ideas what they're worth?
@@LageRUclips I will take a look. Thanks.
Damn dude, former Graphic Designer and record collector. Hahaha. Too damn close to home and we're around the same age as well.
Hahaha
