- I really hope this gives a little insight on where I'm coming from. Maybe I should have put a little more thought into the video but it just came the heart and how I feel on the whole creating content in a traditional space. As I said, I would love to be able to create more in-depth on the job videos but thats just not allowed and I 100% will continue to respect that because like I said, my job pf being an airline is everything I've ever wanted and then some and I wouldn't trade it for anything. There are some great content creators in the space that film on the job if you want to check them out. @FlyingwithBigErn is one of them that makes great on the job videos! Keep doing what your doing. Honestly I stumbled onto your content for motivation because I was a CFI and I was losing my passion for flying.
Saw some of your content and subscribed to a few aviation RUclips channels to keep me motivated. Now I’m finishing up my FO training at a regional airline. Within the next month I can finally call myself an official Airline Pilot.

I started watching your content back in 2018. It truly helped me get through four years of university, pushing and inspiring me to stay disciplined when I lacked motivation through late nights studying, and it continues to excite me for what my future holds. I'm now close to finishing my CPL at 23, and watching your content helps me to keep my foot on the gas and keep striving toward the airlines. In addition to this, as a first-generation pilot, your content has undoubtedly heightened my understanding of the process and journey toward becoming an airline pilot, as well as the lifestyle, sacrifices and blessings associated with the job, and the ins and outs of the industry as a whole. Please keep making these videos and your content. I absolutely understand where you are coming from. Always wanted to be a pilot .. then pursued plan B until I met a great co-worker who took me along to a flight club to meet a phenomenal flight instructor. Now that I had my first solo flight, I can’t ever imagine doing anything else but fly and I am excited for the future. You motivate the right people with your content and your stories and help outsiders find a way in which is something the industry needs now more than ever! :)

I stumbled upon one of your videos a couple months back when I was researching into piloting and when I was genuinely confused on what I should pursue as a career. As a college student with no other connections or family members in aviation, your videos taught me a lot about aviation and helped me take the first step. I just wanted to say that I appreciate you and keep up the good work! :) Also i'm currently trying to find a flight school in hopes of becoming a pilot myself one day, so wish me good luck.

G I’m not a pilot but having been following you for a while and all I can say is haters will always hate. You have inspired so many people to follow their dreams and from what I see have always stayed true to yourself and your profession. I think their are many people out there that don’t understand nor respect the influencer part of your life and as you become more popular and in the light the more you set yourself up for criticism and hatred. I say keep doing you, it’s always been positive in my opinion and informative. Like I said I’m not in the aviation industry but I do love to travel and enjoy watching you travel the world whether flying the plane for work or being a passenger. ❤❤❤

I'm a first generation pilot and I came across your channel and content a little over a year ago when I was trying to make a decision on whether or not I wanted to pursue being an airline pilot. Your videos, along with others in this space, played a big role for me and I'm happy to let you know that I just recently received my CFII and got hired on by my flight school. I've been following you for a while now and people like you feed the passion that I have to become a pilot. I live in The Bahamas and I'm a police here. I love what I do but being an airline pilot has always been my #1 goal but didn't have the funding to go to flight school and now 16yrs later I still find that nothing is satisfying as the mere thought of being an airline pilot. So I hope you and others can continue to be a beacon of hope to persons like me.
12/6/2023- I just found a school near me and ill be able to use my military benefits. Thank you for inspiring me and my hopes are to get my family out of borderline poverty and have a career ill enjoy.
I believe its awesome that you help out others who are doing their best to become a pilot. I for one would love to do so, but my current situation doesn't really allow me to do so. However I still watch your videos and enjoy them. I understand everything you are saying about the negative impact it may have for others that are already in the industry. However all you are truly doing is providing guidance and it shouldn't really bother some people. I have 0 information of how is this industry and how’s a pilot’s lifestyle, etc… and I’d like to thank you for sharing this content. Hey man, I am currently studying for PPL on my own. I am planning on getting into the airlines. I really enjoy watching your videos on YT and your posts on IG. Watching your lifestyle really motivates me to push forward when I hit this wall during my study. Sometimes, I just can't see the light at the end. It feels like endless amount of studying but no immediate reassurance that I am doing something right. I do love watching your lifestyle videos but I would also love more videos on pilot related content (more tips and tricks)

Been watching you for a few years. In that time I started with nothing in 2017, and now I am a FO on a 330. This is the realest video from you that I have seen. Good job addressing things. If you want some unsolicited advice from a fellow airline pilot- split up your channels a bit- keep one to aviation content and make the other one about fashion, travel, your dog, and paid collabs. When you mix aviation with fashion/travel it pisses pilots off. All pilots want to help aspiring pilots, let them see the aviation stuff. Keep the other stuff separate and then they will probably not bring it up in a negative way.

Im 16 and waiting to get the opportunity to start flight school ❤️ watching your videos, vlogs and stuff really help me see how life can be as an airline pilot.... and it makes me want to become one so much more as i can see my self living that life! 1) I really like this "confessional", more direct style of filming, it really seems more intimate and heartfelt with the audience, as if you Garrett are talking to your friend at the coffee house. One thing that I would give feedback to you, Garrett, is I do feel like you are very wary of alienating your colleagues at the airline when you post these videos, and it may unnecessarily restrict your freedom of expression when you have these colleagues telling you to keep things more private. I get that pilots in your dad's generation or your grandfather's generation would have kept things more private because they didn't have RUclips or instagram back then, and they didn't have such openness with their lives, but the world has become more open because of RUclips and instagram, and the world has changed, and it is socially acceptable for you to be more open to the world. People really do crave and want to see all the behind-the-scene stuff in your day-to-day job because you may be the only portal for them to see this private view of their dream career of being a pilot. Your colleagues who are your father's age may say, "why are you filming that instrument panel?", whereas the young people would say, "Thank you for filming that view of the instrument panel!" The people who have reservations of how much private details you give about the industry, I feel, are out of date. No viewer would find you less professional or less serious of a pilot because you vlog about all the behind-the-scene stuff, but rather, they would appreciate it. It is a shame that you feel the pressure to be less open because of peer pressure from pilots of an older generation, but times have changed, and now sharing on social media carries its own power and commands respect in ways older people cannot understand. To summarize, the world WANTS your more intimate details of the industry, and those pilots need to get with the changing world! To feel that you have to restrict your own voice and your own freedom of expression is just wrong! 2) You never know what influence you have on your viewers. I'm not even contemplating a career of being a pilot, because I graduate from pharmacy school in Tennessee and have been a pharmacist since 2017, but I have learned so much stuff from your channel too. I got hooked on your travel videos because I love to watch travel youtubes. One of the things I learned from you was how important it is to start saving for retirement from an early age because your family beat that into your head, and I set up my 401k with company matching from day 1 since you mentioned it. I'm not even going to ever be a pilot, but now I can tell someone that one of the best ways to get your flight hours in is to do survey flights or be a flight instructor, lol! And also I know that you don't have to be a whiz at math to do your fuel calculations and weight calculations, and now I can advise someone that they don't need a college degree to be a pilot! There's so much random stuff I learned, like when you were doing your clothing line, how much time it took to pack and ship all your orders, and how to create a sample shirt to test your designs. The travel experiences you had about sketchy uber drivers trying to rip you off, that kind of stuff is valuable information that may come in handy to someone randomly. Even that whole debacle of how your apartment wasn't ready by the deadline and how you have to negotiate and advocate for yourself to get what you need, all that kind of stuff is valuable information for someone, or how the POD people misplaced your belongings, we are learning along with you. 3) To SUM: the more your share, the more people learn and grow with you, and if your peers don't get that, they are missing out on something good!

I wouldn't bother myself with people that make snarl comments. I didn't even know your uniform was fake but listening to you in uniform definitely does make me pay a lot more attention. If I recall well you were a captain at that regional airline you used to work for. So what's the problem?

It seems like you're trying to justify why you make the content you do buddy; I've not seen your channel for a while, the only odd thing is that it took you so long to catch the bug! I used to write to British Airways and Virgin back in the late 90s when I was 10; they were always amazing, and sent me model planes and pens etc. I sent my logbook once to Virgin (after parents couldn't afford to fund me as a kid) which is a weird thing on reflection. Everything you need to know is on the internet now as you say!

I don’t think you should call your other styles of content “cringy.” It shows a multifaceted lifestyle of someone who is already in their journey a bunch of people who follow you are trying to pursue . Even if somebody is absolutely in love with aviation , I still believe “working to live” is far superior that “living to work.” Planes are fkn cool , but so is clothes , fitness , travel , music , food , anything anybody else is interested in .
I like your content because it shows the “life” of a pilot . Not just the job

Seems to me these airline pilots are able to become pilots with help from their parents who are able to help pay for training ive noticed. Seems like if you don't have that help the career is impossible unless you want to risk financial suicide on a loan. Ive seen countless videos and they all say they've had help.

Garrett- I’m a 57 yr old woman whose childhood dream was to be a Flight Attendant-probably not your target audience 😂. But I’ve been a subscriber for a couple of years. Aviation is big in our family but in different ways. My Dad was in the Air Force & we have an Aerospace Engineer and Aeronautical Engineer in the family. I appreciate your videos simply for your passion. I ended up a 911 dispatcher so not my childhood goal but I loved my job too. Lastly I just wanted to say there is only 1 you for all of time. My philosophy is the less the FAA knows about me, the better my life will be. I do occasional posts about my flying on instagram but every time I go on any social media that’s an opportunity for my bosses at my 135 job or the FAA to come knocking
