Deleted the heater? Wow. You should have done what they used to do before heaters and mix up oil with some gasoline and light it on fire then stick it under the block. There’s a good reason to have block heaters lol

And you know what, all those heavy engines have well over 20,000 hours on them still running. Lastly you're not going to pay a mechanic 20k for a new engine for a truck that's 50k brand new even if the engine did go. Youd just buy another truck
@@ronnieswindski825 industrial engine is different than a diesel pickup. Some horde and heat, plug into gen-set or leave running all night. 50K brand new truck I do not believe that. Many people stuck in payments either park it or rebuild the motor. Guess you assume too much in an ignorant manner.

For 50-60k you can have a new ram diesel they're not that much money. And if somone is stuck in payments and cant pay it off or afford to lose some money, where in the world are they gonna get 20k to drop for a new engine? No one in spending that. This is why they have the grid heater whats up with everyone taking the heater off for dont it change anything other thin makeing it harder to start in the winter
There's a purpose if you have a performance truck running alot of hp because the grid heater is really restrictive once you start getting pass factory standards its restricting the flow of air youre now trying to add to it and wasn't designed to take that volume so you get rid of the grate deal for the heater then just have a nice unrestricted passage
Grid heater or not these trucks should come with the block heater already installed my dealer didn’t understand why I wanted one. Recon I’ll be getting the plug and doing it myself
I dont get why I see so many cummins struggling yesterday it was -11 and my second gen fires right up not plugged in. I know your gonna find that hard to believe but it's true haha
I have 2017 that looks Identical, fully deleted but kept the Grid heater and she starts daily at -10 or lower....why would you delete the grid heater in a place that snows
I think you may have a slight exhaust leak u can check this by looking where the clamps meet and see if there is soot spraying out i may be wrong but i think so
And the point of this video is? Because if it was to sell us on how cool deleting is I don't think it's working. It reminds me of trying to start cars back in the 70's when it was cold. Pump gas pedal 3x, crank and pray, pump pedal some more, keep cranking and praying... No thanks.
That's a very poor running, poor maintained and not very well modified Cummins Ram. And it is relatively newish! Look at the exhaust leaks once it starts. This just shows that once a truck leaves the factory & dealership, the manufacturer has no control over what mods the owner will make. Some will do very tasteful, well thought out mods that help with performance & longevity. Others do stuff like this. Then when they start breaking down, they claim Dodge is no good!
6°F is only -14°C.... That's a warm day here in Alberta lol.... This isn't "extreme" by any means, the other day it was -49°C witch is -52.6°F and vehicles were still starting... You wanna see a cold start.... Come here lmao
Mine is deleted and it starts even when it gets down to 20 degrees. Don’t even crank for 2 seconds even with 4 year old batteries. Something is bad wrong with that truck
I just don’t get it, I love the sound but honestly mine is bone stock my buddies is not and mine starts no problem not plugged in. His is horrible and in most cases he will continue to crank until it needs to be jumped. The only thing I do to mine is anti gel
This dumb shit of deleting the grid heater is not worth it for the 0.25 extra horsepower. Shit is hard on everything when trying to start it like this.
You obviously don't know anything about diesels. This dummy removed the grid heater for whatever reason. My 12 ram starts in -40f not plugged in. As it should.

man that battery must be getting weak... few more tries she'd be getting a boost!!! Love the sound of a diesel firing up cold!!!
Just started my diesel in 75 degree temps down here in Port A…. Reminds me damn it’s gonna get cold soon when I get to Amarillo.
I've never seen a 6.7 cummins struggle with a cold start. Don't take away the grid heater just for RUclips
Toasting the starter. Hope the grid heater delete was worth it. I start my truck without plugging it in to -10 f and it always starts first try. 2016z
agree 100% on everything, but also beating the shit out of the batteries
Got some exhaust leaks there eh..

6 degrees is not an extreme cold start. He didnt hurt anything. I get it, you drive a 6.0 and you're paranoid about breaking it.
its simple.. next time keep the grid heater...
Yeah no kidding. I wouldn't remove the grid heater on my truck unless the coldest it got was in the 30s
People really think it adds power removing it it’s unbelievable
I've got mine deleted and I live in north dakota. never had an issue starting. just gotta plug it in
Deleting grid heater is dumb
@@justrun14 literally all you have to do lmao
Damn. That was painful to watch! Coldest I’ve been in was -9……North Dakota. MUCH colder if allowing wind chill. But started RIGHT up.
I have a 2016 Ram 3500 Cummins and live in northern Minnesota and my is completely stock and my starts in about 2 seconds not plugged in, in -35.
This one doesn't have a grid heater (according to the description). In my experience, Cummins has always started way better than this in the cold
Ours has always started better
Let me tell you something. It’s not stock; it’s far from stock
Ladies and gentlemen… *it’s cold start to the extreme!*

Would've been awesome if he just drove off right away 😆
No grid heater or not, I've never saw a 4th gen Cummins start that hard!
I think he's afraid to hold the key down.
You just burning out the starter if you let off of it
Needa get an Espar for that bad boy, just killing that poor block
I deleted the grid heater on my 08, but I keep it plugged in during the real cold nights in the winter.
It must make you cool to delete your heater grid and make your truck a pos
You sound a little jealous you can't afford a truck like that
Logan they have grid heaters for a reason headass
@@octqne Guess we’re not allowed to talk about how much of dumbass someone is or else we’re jealous😂
I THOUGHT THE NEWER CUMMINS' WERE FUEL EFFICIENT, THIS THING IS ROLLING A TON OF COAL!

I think you may have a slight exhaust leak u can check this by looking where the clamps meet and see if there is soot spraying out i may be wrong but i think so
You are correct! I saw the same thing and the v band clamp came off on the turbo!
That v band clamp gets loose over time. Mine was so loose I could move it by hand last time I did my oil change and it got tightened up
I just took my grid heater out. I was wondering how it would start. We are now just getting into warmer weather.
Finally someone knows how to be nice to the starter and not constantly crank it
Only because its pcm controlled. I'm sure he would've hammered the starter the entire video if the truck would allow it.
You’re supposed to give it a good second or two, half of these he gave up too quick
Truck probably had to unjelly the fuel 💀
My 2012 cummins has 200 thousand miles and fires up 10 times better then that when its -25°f.
I’m a fan of power stroke 6.7 and Cummins both are faster than 7.3 I like the dually trucks they can haul a camping trailer
Each time I heard that starter attempting to turn over I cringed lol I would have at least waited a little bit before trying to start the truck again…
It was a grid heater delete because people think it's a good thing
And the point of this video is? Because if it was to sell us on how cool deleting is I don't think it's working. It reminds me of trying to start cars back in the 70's when it was cold. Pump gas pedal 3x, crank and pray, pump pedal some more, keep cranking and praying... No thanks.

Its behaving perfectly normal for a Cummins without a grid heater. Nothing was wrong or hurt in this video lol.
My truck starts up real fast. Why so long to start this?
is this with the grid heater cycling?
Description says grid heater deleted
Just hold the damn key over. Lmao.
Knock ,knock who's there!?????
Who deletes the grid heater
Do a banks power intake and grid heater
I love your truck how much is it
I'm guessing it is push to start

Let the grid heater cycle

Keep ur grid heater bud
Note to self don’t delete if you live there
Nope just the owners fault
Delete but keep the truck plugged in lol
That made me sad 😞
No Grid Heater?
How stupid.....
you need to let the glow plugs warm up
Cummins don’t have glow plugs dumbass

His money his truck but gosh dang I feel dumb for watching this the few HP u got from no grid heater is not worth it turn it up one level
waste of money and time deleting grid heaters, must be getting big dyno numbers without it now🤔
What the hell is the purpose of removing a grid heater from a diesel truck? That is so dumb.
who else laughing at 6° f
Not good with out heater
Those newer Dodge diesels all sound like garbage in 30f and under temps.

Hold it till it fires fool
I'll stick with my gas job's man that was horrible to watch Cummins still can't make engine to start Worth a crap in cold temperature
J K it’s cause he didnt plug it and also his grid heater he stupid af
They start no problem with glow plugs or grid... Still chug like a 1 cylinder after they start but only take one crank to start
