All three of these women could really sing. Jean shouldn't have felt she didn't fill those shoes. She certainly did in her own way (I saw her four times with the Supremes in the early 70s). She had her own style and approach, a soulful, sultry singer. As for Scherrie--she had the biggest voice, best pitch, and most dynamism of any singer who sang with the group. She should have had a much bigger career. RIP Mary

Love Jean's comment about filling Diana's shoes! Great to poke fun. You go Scherie...telling abut Jeans 6 millon sellers. Love Lynda giving kudos to all The Supremes fans! All so young and beautiful.

What a wonderful interview. Scherrie, Jean and Lynda are three of the finest singers Motown ever signed. What talent they have. I was lucky enough to see them perform in England the following year and they were absolute dynamite! Long may Scherrie, Lynda and Joyce carry on the legacy! I am sad to see wonderful Susaye depart but it was fantastic to see the trio that would have continued the Supremes' legacy in 1977 finally do it in 2017!

Thanks for sharing this rare interview. These ladies seem like they're on the defensive. Lol. They're really making the case that The Supremes were still a success (which is true) after Diana Ross left. They're doing it in a tactful and smooth way... and not so much as to sell a point to the publication interviewing them, but to butter up Jean's ego. After she mentioned that some people hated the transition from Diana Ross to her as lead singer, Lynda and Scherrie swooped in with the compliments. Very good media training.

If you listen closely, I don't think Jean meant that people hated the transition from Diana to her self as lead singer. I think she is saying that people (including herself) just hated to see Diana leave the Supremes in general, because they loved the group as it was. Their feelings had nothing to do with Jean.
