I used Comp Cams 990 springs in the 2.3 head for my XR4Ti. They provided the seat pressure I needed and worked with the retainers I had that were previously installed by BoPort. I am using a .450" slider cam, but they may work out for your roller. Worth checking into. Also, just found your channel, my 1992 5.0 notch was previously owned by an English fellow and it spent a few years in the mid 90s in England before he moved back to the states and I bought it.
Those heads can definitely be challenging especially when modifying valvetrain components. The lifter height in relation to the stem height and then popping the rockers in during assembly. Good times. And for whatever reason those things seem like they weigh alot more than they should....
What a laugh calling a pinto a Thunderbird, that is a pinto head it is a modified pinto and a pinto was a damn good car for gas mileage. The only problem with the pinto was the rotor cap was too far too much over 140.00"I used to use a special plug wire from the coil to the distributor it's pretty hard braze up the end of the rotor.
@@deanstevenson6527 Rog. I haven't frequented FEP in a while. Since coming to the UK I left my 85 GT in storage in Florida in 2018 and sold my 85 SVO back in 2013 or so. Zap's 85 GT was my user name.

My brother found out the hard way that without using head dowel pins, the head gasket on his 2.3T was off enough to burn out between 2 cylinders.
You should had swapped the “volvo dohc head” on there. It fits with minor modifications, and its a huge improvement over the stock style head.
it’s not his motor nor his money he’s spending to rebuild it….
