Enjoyed this video very much. Tinted headlights are the dumbest thing ever. Yeah they look good in daylight but at night not being able to see is terrifying. Love the GT it sounds sick.
I love this body style, the new headlights are classy, and that thing sounds rowdy, get it a good dyno tune and it wont chop so hard or run as pig rich at idle, beautiful car, you stole that one Randy! Happy Hannukah brother!!
Next time you have an issue with lowered vehicles on your lift! Put the car back onto the lift and raise your lift or tilt your ramps up and slide a piece of 2x6 or 2x8 under the ramps and that will assist you getting in on and off the lift Randy! I own multiple bagged and body dropped and lowered vehicles. Also have hauled exotic hyper cars on a roll back and on a trailer and this is a common issue with lower vehicles!!
Those are gt40p heads and gt 40 intake most likely off of an explorer with the 5.0.Its actually a super common thing you just have to buy the right headers so you can run factory plug wires.Thats the reason it's uncommon like you said is because you have to buy a specific header for it and they weren't cheap. If the timing was advanced that's way we used to get a few extra horsepower out of stock 5.0's
Sweet ride.. I owned a 1985 Mercury Capri (basically a Mustang hatchback with a domed rear window) 5.0 with the 5speed. Great cars with this one being my first car with a/c.
When Randy put the silicone on the spark plug wire and he said “ that’s probably way too much “ did anyone else say to themselves “ way too much , perfect “ VSG 😂🤣
Factory headlight kit looks much better than the aftermarket tinted headlights. I will say that the led bulbs in the factory lens kit will look so much better as well as giving superior lighting performance. Mabey put in the led's and see the difference for yourself and switch back if you don't like them. Just a thought. Car sounds and runs great.
A great video Randy it's surprising how much better you get down the road when the timing is set up as for the power slide when you turned around that was fantastic.
I wonder if the timing was that far off because maybe it had nitrous on it at one point. Back in the day I had a 200 shot and had to retard the timing like 8-15 degrees when on the bottle. Dude that car is bad ass! Great video and Merry Christmas
The factory headlights look way better! Some info on the heads, 1997 and under Ford Explorer's with the 5.0 had the 3 bar GT40 heads, '98 and up Explorer's with the 5.0 had the 4 bar GT40p's. They will bolt right up to the Foxbody, just have to change to some better valve springs, a definite upgrade over the stock E7 heads. Probably $200 for the heads and intake at the local pick and pull, thats what I did, I ported and shaved some 3 bar GT40 heads on my car and it probably picked up 40 to 50 horsepower over stock (with a bigger cam). And your car sounds like it has an old school E303 cam in it, hope this helps! Merry Christmas!
Check all of your injection fuel lines and rails. It might be dropping pressure when it sits due to a damaged fitting. Is easy for a o-ring to split and cause a leak which causes the fuel to go through the return line instead of maintaining pressure at the inlet. 😊
Did you set the timing to stock which is 10 degrees? I've always set my timing at 14 degrees for a Lil added performance. Also check the TPS on the throttle body and make sure that's at .9 it makes a difference if it's not set.
My first car was a 1991 LX 5.0. if it has an ADS super chip or similar mod in it, you're going to want to run the timing 12° past TDC. Always trying to help Randy best of luck my friend!
My dad learned that too with his 90 GT he lowered. Wouldn't make it over the dovetail on the car trailer with the exhaust. Always a nice feeling to make forward progress on vehicles.
Love the OEM headlights.. those 1 pc jobs just aren't my thing.... Why do I have a feeling that the black ends should be on the cap and not the plugs? Probably doesn't matter.
Hello Randy. Fixing the 1993 Ford Mustang Fox body. First by replacing the sparkplug wires. Then she will run a lot better. Merry Christmas Randy and your family. 🎄🎅🤶
Hey Randy, I hope you and your family had a great Christmas! You know you have 2 cars that I dream of owning one day. The first one is that beautiful 5.0 Mustang convertible and the other one is the Buick Grand National. If you do decide to with either one I would definitely be interested in buying. Keep up the great work my friend 👍🏼 👍🏼
Randy, that car is a lot like mine!!!! But mine has a white top and porno red cloth interior, and no two tone. I saw the Explorer intakes and GT40Ps right away. I was lucky and got a set of the Ford Racing stainless headers for GT40Ps about ten years ago. The Explorer top end is waaaay better than the E7s and HO intake. My Cold Air kit is a Mac. I also drilled my P heads to use the upstream air pipe! I drilled passages to just above the #4 and #8 exhaust ports, and then drilled up through the roof of the port into the new passage. And I drilled and tapped two holes for the mounting bolts No error codes that way. Mine is an '88, and I converted it to A9L Mass Air.
Randy please use a fender apron. Much appreciated. Merry Christmas Eve 🎄 I've owned 9 of those cars. And belong to Cherokee Regional Mustang Club. You have a Explorer upper and lower intake gt40p heads why the 4 bars. If it was 3 bar's would be the the easier spark plug and header combination GT40 heads. I will say this those gt40p make just a touch more compression. Can't remember the exact spec just because it's been years since I've been that deep in. Used to do it all the time. Now let's get back to your video because I'm only 6mins in 😅
If the one piece lights were clear, it would definitely be better compared to the 3 piece lights. But being able to see at night is better than having better looking lights.
the comment on the wood is for clearence backing the car off is how i get a low car off my lift, a couple of 2x4 wood at the end of the lift raises the back of the car just enough for the mufflers to clear!
You may want to invest in header wrap! This in addition to the 90° plug wires should not only eliminate any heat damage to the plug wires, but contain heat in the exhaust headers thus improving the efficiency of exhaust system, and improving power.
I'm well aware of the GT40 swap on those cars and the woes of doing it, been there done that header hunt on an Explorer. I bought a 96 Explorer 5.0, an early 96 at that with the super desirable GTs, and had to actually hide it from public sight because everybody wanted to ruin a perfectly good Explorer project because of their Mustang. Also good video as always, but will definitely miss the black lights
Hey Randy, I just watched your video on the GT Ford Mustang that you have I absolutely love that car man I hear that you’re thinking about selling it. I hope you get a good price for it either from Copart or whoever you’re planning on selling it to because you have that car running like a scolded cat it’s running perfect so but I can’t wait to see your next video. I hope you have a merry merry Christmas and tell Nick and Jessica I said merry Christmas if you would, I’ll talk to you again. have a good day
Man! I want that car. I’ve always loved the Fox body mustangs and that convertible would be so much fun. Five speed tranny and a 5.0! Please sir, give me that car! I know, I know! Money talks. Wish I had some.
sounds like the '94 cobra i had. mine had gt40 heads, 24lb injectors and the cobra intake from the factory but i added an E303 cam, flowtech shorty headers, catless h pipe, flowmaster mufflers, underdrive Pullies, 3.73 gears, bbk cold air intake and 70mm bbk throttle body. btw- if the timing was retarded 15 degrees it is a GOOD POSSIBILITY that the engine was NITROUS OXIDE INJECTED at some point and after removing it they never put the timing back where is should be for naturally aspirated.
I just looked up a Fox body on Barrett Jackson website and it sold for 58;000. Dollars at the last auction and I think that you can get the same money or maybe even more look your self and I think that you will be very surprised the one that I saw was a convertible just like the one that you have Charlie kretschmar Phoenix Arizona
May I suggest some 2×12's cut down and used for extra height..ie.. clearance for such occasions in the future... Always good to have something and not need it... Apposed to needing something and not have it ..
I see your dilemma on the convertible mustang, but for content & saleablity... converting the lights & having it drive better, is the right thing to do. Never fall in love with a vehicle. Profit is the key for longevity.
Enjoyed this video very much. Tinted headlights are the dumbest thing ever. Yeah they look good in daylight but at night not being able to see is terrifying. Love the GT it sounds sick.
Those are not tinted, the outer plastic is crystal clear. I have those and can actually see better than stock in my Explorer.
I love this body style, the new headlights are classy, and that thing sounds rowdy, get it a good dyno tune and it wont chop so hard or run as pig rich at idle, beautiful car, you stole that one Randy! Happy Hannukah brother!!
Randy you are a surprisingly a great mechanic
Your hilarious
I like the factory headlights better then the one piece ones ❤❤❤
That old school green dash. Brings back memories of my youth. :) Nice car man love me a fox body
Thanks Randy 5.O vid 🎬🚘🔥🤘.Merry Christmas🎄✨️🥂✌️. Looks way better with the new O.g lights IMO 👍
Merry Christmas Randy to you and your family! Love this convertible mustang she sounds so much better! Surprised the timing was that much off!
Headlights look alot better than the other ones for sure and the new wires and timing sounds awesome
GT40P heads from a ford explorer. Best flowing heads back in the day for a mustang.
Yes sir 👍 the P
Heads that make the plugs hard to get to.
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into to all your videos. I am a longtime fan. I hope you have a Happy Holidays!
Your timing is probably off cause they more than likely had a shot of nitrous on it
Some high temperature exhaust wrap on the headers will go a long way to reduce the amount of heat in the engine compartment
But could damage the headers due to wrap holding in heat.
@@Max_ellis74 Not so much the heat but the moisture. If the wire is touching the wrap and there's no air-gap it'll burn anyway
That mustang sounds so good with that big cam loping

Damn that GT sounds wicked. Great job man. If I had both fox bodies I would have a hard time choosing but I think I would go with the GT.
Randy, I’m really happy that you have been bringing these Fox bodies back to a stock look. That car looks way better with the stock lights.
Thank you for the Plug Wire info. I have never done them before. This is good to know.
Sweet ride.. I owned a 1985 Mercury Capri (basically a Mustang hatchback with a domed rear window) 5.0 with the 5speed. Great cars with this one being my first car with a/c.
Yeah, you need a lot of parts for the OEM lights! Looks good Randy.
Man i think the original lights look so much better. This car is really really awesome, glad you can enjoy it Randy. Keep up da great content!
When Randy put the silicone on the spark plug wire and he said “ that’s probably way too much “ did anyone else say to themselves “ way too much , perfect “
VSG 😂🤣
VGG
Thank you for getting rid of the 1 piece headlights! So much better ❤
Also thank you for teaching me how to make custom spark wires buddy!
Agree with you 100 percent on leds. Factory looks best.

Brother the light you put in looks MUCH better than the tinted ones. Great job Randy!!! 😊
The one piece headlights look a lot better. Just not too dark on tint or smoked lenses. I like projector lights with the led bulbs.
The factory headlights look way better! Some info on the heads, 1997 and under Ford Explorer's with the 5.0 had the 3 bar GT40 heads, '98 and up Explorer's with the 5.0 had the 4 bar GT40p's. I am glad that you changed the headlights. The tinted headlights are actually not DOT legal.
Check all of your injection fuel lines and rails. It might be dropping pressure when it sits due to a damaged fitting. Is easy for a o-ring to split and cause a leak which causes the fuel to go through the return line instead of maintaining pressure at the inlet. 😊

Hey Randy, what a sweet little ride! I would keep that one over the other, hands-down! Kudos as always a daily treat! Light up my mornings!
My first car was a 1991 LX 5.0. if it has an ADS super chip or similar mod in it, you're going to want to run the timing 12° past TDC. Always trying to help Randy best of luck my friend!

Always a nice feeling to make forward progress on vehicles.
Hey there Randy you might want to address the starter because it sounds like it's dragging when you start the car up
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Randy!
Great show Randy
Love the OEM headlights.. those 1 pc jobs just aren't my thing.... Why do I have a feeling that the black ends should be on the cap and not the plugs? Probably doesn't matter.
I love those p heads on budget combo . I deck the heads .030 to get the compression 10:1 with a good spring pack and a home port job these heads rip.
Marry Christmas randy 🤶 this year has been the best videos ever
Omg.. that thing sounds absolutely beautiful 💯
Hello Randy. Fixing the 1993 Ford Mustang Fox body. First by replacing the sparkplug wires. Then she will run a lot better. Merry Christmas Randy and your family. 🎄🎅🤶

Damn the headlights made it different
I want this car so bad! Hopefully I can convince the wifey to buy this bad boy!! Randy, next time you drive to battle ground, tow it here for me! 😜
Those heads and intake manifold are explorer gt40p. Super common and the p heads are kinda a nightmare with the sparkplug angle
old school lights look better. Merry Christmas Randy, Happy Hanukkah

Also that starter isn't shimed correctly.
If the one piece lights were clear, it would definitely be better compared to the 3 piece lights. But being able to see at night is better than having better looking lights.
Good work Randy. Merry Christmas to you and your family 👪👪🎄🎄😎😎👍👍
I think I would've tried the LED headlight bulbs just to see how they worked
Randy about the timing thing
Possible the last owner
Used E 85 fuel it Burns slower and longer...😊 .. I know I so cleaver...
I like the one piece design but not when it’s tinted. Is there any way to remove the tinting on the headlight part itself?
This engine sounds amazing
Great video and Merry Christmas🎄❄️🎅
merry "chrimbo"to everyone and hope you all have a "brilliant "time during the festive period...........
Merry Christmas Randy! ⛄🤶🎄
One of yours best videos ever

The fireman got night vision goggles for Christmas, so slow down at night.
Good Ole randy. Mr OEM. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you randy. Love your videos. Keep em coming.

Merry Christmas to you and your family all the best for 2024🎉🎉🎉
Nice 💯💯 like the original headlights then the aftermarket one
Glad you went back to OEM headlights and got rid of those horrid aftermarket lights 😂
Merry Christmas Randy.
I like the one peace look better but Visibility is 100% key
Some cool stuff huh! Sad it may be gone soon! Keep it up randy, love mustangs so much, besides the Mock E ofc! Keep it up! 👍🔥
I have 90-degree boots on when it snows, oh wait, wrong subject.
I'm well aware of the GT40 swap on those cars and the woes of doing it, been there done that header hunt on an Explorer. This car would be a blast on the roads up here. Is many areas where we have some twisty routes which would be a whole lot of fun with this 🚗 😊
I'm in agreement with ya, stock lights way better

The other beep when you fire it up is the airbag code -- the lightbulb is either burned out or missing.

OEM headlights look great.
Marry chrismas to you and your family Randy nice job whit your video i like it alot am from montreal canada
Good video bud keep up the good work
Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone..
May I suggest some 2×12's cut down and used for extra height..ie.. clearance for such occasions in the future... Always good to have something and not need it... Apposed to needing something and not have it ..
The factory headlights are so much better
The stock headlights look best. They make it look original. The mod lights were too much, a little extra!
Good Randy
My mom just bought a 1989 Mustang LX convertible 5.0L with 64,000 miles on it!
It looks like the backlighting in the gauges has been replaced with leds. Maybe whoever did it, didn't put the needles back in the exact spot.
Looks great.
That started needs shimmed or something i grit my teeth every time it cranks lol
Gotta Love The Rumble Shes Sweet
I see your dilemma on the convertible mustang, but for content & saleablity... converting the lights & having it drive better, is the right thing to do. Never fall in love with a vehicle. Profit is the key for longevity.
Taylor wires make header boot sleeves for wires . Faster and cheaper then header wrap . Accel ceramic boot 8.8 live wire sets are an option as well .
You need a shim kit for that starter
the new headlights 👍👍
