The Start of Thrifted Fall Crafts

- Even though we are experiencing high, muggy heat right now it is time to begin prepping the shop for Fall. I found the little fall inspired tin on one of my recent thrift store excursions and knew it could be the start of a larger piece of decor.
All of the items used were thrifted, though maybe a floral bunch was a dollar store find. Either way this was an inexpensive item to make but I'm loving the colours this new season brings.
For me the best purchase here was the charger plate. I often find them in plastic (and buy those also) but the metal just adds that extra durability. Chargers are so versatile in your decor, serving as an inexpensive base to various holiday inspired vignettes, to wall decor. I like to keep some on hand for those 'just in case' moments!!

Nice! I was actually ablecto see a bit if the painyed charger near the top, which I think is nice - never heard of clay paint before - very intriguing!
I love the clay paint... perhaps the most versatile of the paints I use... I especially love that there's zero waste (and that it sticks to pretty much anything!!)

It looks nice but with so much going on I it’s the charger it takes away from the center piece.
It’s always a question of the goal in designing, isn’t it? The center piece could be the star, an equal player or just background, depending upon what you want. You could certainly have done an entirely different design to make the center tin the main feature.
Just a thought, if you need sunflowers, but can’t find any, would painting daisies orange and yellow be a quick, short term fix until sunflowers hit the market?
Laura… I would say maybe… depending upon the look you’re after…. They would look painted…. But that could be a cool look. Maybe dying them would be another option.
Very nice end result. Might I add that when you talk low, almost under your breath at times, it is hard to hear what you are saying. I'm not hard of hearing, but maybe it is just me. 😊
Thanks Sandi... and thanks for the feedback. When I play the video back for myself (in order to edit) the sound quality is fine, or I'd flip to a voice over (which i do when the recording gets messed up). However, that doesn't mean that it comes through as clearly for everyone else. With the wealth of variation in devices out there it is challenging for all things to be equal. i will attempt to speak a little more consistently though my style is a little more conversational in nature.
Why don't you tidy up your background? It is hard to watch with all that mess behind you.
