If Billy says an amp has a good tone, it have a good tone!!!!
I saw ZZ Top at the Wilson Center in Wilmington NC with the Magnatone Amps. They sounded excellent.
Best way to demo an amp well done sounds great in the 2 second clip.
I played the Magnatone Super Fifteen and Stereo Twighlighter yesterday at Gearfest 2019! I played Billy's super light Les Paul, I think it is prototype. I was blown away. Wish I could get both! A/B Y box and those two amps would be perfect for me! Man that Fifteen watt amp was loud!
Billy is a legend! 🔥
1971, Albuquerque NM, BB King, Blackoak Arkasas, ZZ TOP. I was 13.
320 shows? omg, ZZ is the alpha setting the pace...still! much respect & love
Had an Esty by Magnatone amp when I started playing in '62 at 8 y/o. Couldnt have been more then 7-10 watts but had tremolo!! Wish I still had it.
Bill the man!
I've owned a few vintage Mtones, a 260, a 280, the smaller Estey's, and more i cannot think of right now. True pitch bending vibrato, separates these amps from every other amp ever made. The 260 is similar to a Vox AC30, with big mids, but with other characteristics. The 280 is stereo pitch bending vibrato. GREAT for studio rather than live, it doesn't have much headroom. Fenders Vibrato is nothing compared to these, and it is actually on - off tremolo, not vibrato.
Just saw them last eve, 9-19-19, in NY. Those MAGNATONES captured ZZ TOPS sonic 👊 punch fantastically! What a band, what amps! 😎🤘
I have the magnatone single v and its amazing
Ted Kornblum is the man behind the excellence of Ampeg during the SLM years. He cares about his product line and customer satisfaction.
I love BillyGibbons
thanks 👍
Probably the most naturally cool man I know of.
Billy Gibbons the tone King.
by far the best character on the show _bones_ 😅 and he wasn't even a regular.
kodiak wild I liked that show only when Billy was on it.
@@danielcannon4727 i hear you 😅
I've got that same Dime shirt.
How does this compete with a Carr slant 6 V 2x12?
Cool dude I remember seeing him at the shilo hotel in Pomona always has that hat
Travis Guide yeah I wonder if he has dozens of them as they must wear out.Theres a story behind where he got this hat,it's spiritual or cultural, meaning he found them in some far away place I'm pretty sure, love to know I've often wondered
Billy the main man 👍
So cool. Time for us to check out Magnatone🤔
Yeah we should🔥🔥🔥
Rock the house
Nick Bowcott called Billy's tone "Girthy". While true, it's kinda like saying "Salma Hayek is good looking". It's true, but only tells part of the story. Live recordings of ZZ Top at Rockpalast are the heaviest, fattest, awesomest recorded tones I've ever heard. Git you some Billy F. Gibbons!
That Rockpalast show is legendary stuff. Probably my favorite performance by one of my all time favorite bands. Billy's tone is top notch.👍
Billy is the Boogie Meister
Played on one a friend and I found in his mom and dad's attic. That was over 40 years ago. Of course I had no idea what it was or how to set it. Hell, I had no idea how to tune the guitar. But the new Panoramic Stereo Amp by May is my new holy Grail. The price is the only thing keeping me from having one now. Someday, someday, someday...
I saw magnatone amps on stage when I saw him but I also saw rackmount Marshall's as well so I wonder what is going on?
It's a lie everything is to be questioned !
If you notice none of the magnatone have anything plugged into their inputs and none are micd
I'm pretty sure he blends the magnatone with the marshall pre's
If you happen to see or talk to mr. Magnatone please ask him to make a super 5 amplifier.
I want a Magnatone amp. I just can’t decide which one.
Super Fifty-Nine with Mardi Gras
Does Magnatone amps = Bigtone amps?
He doesn't use them live...he uses a rackmount Marshall and one Magnatone cab on stage for a monitor....
It’s always cracked me up seeing the Reverend endorse guitars and amps. Sure he sounds great through everything but live he has been using a rack mounted Marshall JMP Power amp and has an equalizer that’s used to sample Pearly Gates and make every guitar he plays EQ to match Pearly. He’s used that setup for like 25 years.
I want to try one of these amps so bad!! Billy guitar tech was saying they’re like a really suped up Marshall? Can anyone capitalize on this?
I've got a Magnatone that once belonged to Lonnie Mack , it's older than I am
What good is an amp review without hearing it played thru?
@@songwriterscove4515 To hear my Magnatone listen to Lonnie Mack live at CoCos , if it's not the same one I have its at least the same exact model. No way to know if it's the same amp though. I got the amp from Lonnie's brother in law in 2009 but never got a chance to ask Lonnie about it. But I'm sure it was one he played live with
@@abelincoln5698 Thank you my friend.
Wow, if someone had just made one in the 50's...DOH! I traded my original magnatone twin for a bassman...no comparison.
"Picked it up"? This is 'Generation Nothing Original'. Jefferson Airplane quote time: "This generation got no destination to hold..." We need a few more Jaws, Rocky and Star Trek movies too...
Perfect posting and spot on. (And saw Hot Tuna yesterday!)
I would love to see Jorma again some day...if we both live long enough, maybe! Otherwise, I can always flashback...and hear it as if it was yesterday...LOL!
earl hooker a utiliser se super amplis un super amplis la classe
Those cabs do look kinda sexy
If they’re good enough for The Reverend Willy G… they’re good enough!
Frank Beard the man in the band with no beard.
I miss Dusty
Stud.
Expensive amps but worth it i guess :)
le bonnet et superbe lol
Let's find the one down thumb and have a discussion with said weiner .
look at those fingers
why?
@@bishlap 😅 good question.
"Withstands the rigors of the road" BIG DEAL - probably tours with like 50 spares!
You're always welcome to buy junk that breaks down. All good with the rest of us.
Welcome to an amp company that you can't afford.
ZZ TOP felt forum, NYC 1975, played 45 minutes, thankfully. Their show sucked - no energy, no emotion. I loved Tres Hombres, told all my pals, u gotta see this 3 man set up, boy was I embarrassed, what a letdown. 15 minutes of "blow your top" UGH. A week later, I believe, we saw Humble Pie at the Academy of Music and it felt like Rock music had been saved after that horrendous ZZ TOP show.
Everyone has an off day.
Virtually nobody cares what your experience was because they've had their own and it was great. ZZ and Billy rule.
