This gives me hope I've been trying to grow my RUclips channel over the past few months, and knowing that there's still a chance that videos can be to be picked up by the algorithm months later is very encouraging. Finally some real insights on a (great) piano channel :-) thank you. I just started uploading some of my piano stuff end of last year and you are absolutely right. There has to be more than just nice music. Looking forward to more insights. Sometimes I don’t really get how the algorithm decides what metrics it should use. However in the end my current benefit of building my own piano channel is that I realize that I am getting a better player again and that is absolutely worth the time spent.

No one else can put as much passion in what he, or she, is playing and to watch your body transfer that passion from your soul into your fingers, as they do their ballet across the keys, is sheer pleasure. To see your smile, as you play, displays how much enjoyment you get while filling the world with your music. You also help people, so much, with your instructional videos. I am so glad your channel is bringing in more subscribers and income. I remember, in the early days, when the subscribers were in the low hundreds and knew your talents would eventually push those numbers into something much larger. My friend, thank you for your dedication to your craft and for the many, thankless, hours you have spent bringing only your best efforts to us. I have a suggestion I would LOVE to see.. A video of your setup with speakers etc of your MP11se.. What is needed. What brand is best.. I plan on buying the same keyboard and it is hard to find a good explanation of the setup needed. I'm not going to gig. It's for home use. I think that would be an awesome video. I have read a lot of questions about this on the net but not one answer displays a video or a complete answer to the question. I am a new subscriber and I love your channel and your beautiful music.. You only make money from non copyrighted content, so making covers won’t net you any revenue long term, the only way to make revenue is original videos, hence your success with those ones.
You play splendidly. Quick note - when I clicked on this video it says 2.4K views 9 months ago. Not sure why there is a different number than what you are saying in the video. I have heard this before - video shows 1 set of data to the viewer, another to the channel author. Most videos do not reveal how many views they are told - great idea to share - something is wrong with YTs accuracy (or lack of). Thanks for your tests. As a musician I take for granted the fact that most people can't hear what I hear - thanks for God's gifts - huh!
Does anyone know about if one would need to obtain certain copyright licenses to upload covers of songs? I really want to get started on a piano channel but this is the one thing stopping me from committing to it. Thanks!
Interesting. However, regarding "No [human] boss", I would submit that having an algorithm as boss can be nearly as troublesome as having a hairless ape in a suit as boss. At least human bosses can (sometimes) be reasoned with. Whereas The Algorithm has no brain and no emotions, so cannot be reasoned with, only tricked or "gamed". So pick your poison: if gaming The Algorithm is less annoying to you than arguing with a (possibly irascible and/or irrational) human boss, then I wish you well with that. I'm not sure if I have the energy to do either, myself, currently.
It doesn't really matter if your channel grows for that one video that gets 1 Million views if those subscribers don't watch the rest of your videos. You have different audiences. In your case, your recent cover videos don't reach 1K views. In the end it depends on what you want to do on your channel. Looking at your channel analytics, none of your successful videos are covers. Many of us simply want to share our arrangements and performances.

I just shared your test video. I knew from the start what you were trying and hoe genius it was. Unfortunately we are not all as talented as you . Im on a path of acceptance. It's strange how a monk for better words wandered off into a mountain to live in peace cos he had found the ultimate state that nothing could compare to,no drug no money no beautiful wife or husband. People who met him felt calm and peace. Word got around and another spiritual man with many disciples heard. When he saw the man he was gobsmacked. He told he's disciple not to approach him as traditionally they touch the feet of a spiritual man. He said he be burned cos he was so bright. He did even want anyone near him but if you was there at the time he would earn more than all the fake guru's on RUclips combined. He died poor like we all will but he had the entire universe as his self. Riches make you unhappy. Goal make you temporarily happy. Goal achieving in my life was not t something I would fail at without incredible effort, becoming hospitalised after failing at online poker I stopped for health reasons. I wander after being heartbroken into a casino and began playing cash games there . I kept going there cos everyone was terrible and the good players were so obvious. Then I played 3 tournaments and won them consecutively. Only been done twice before in that casino by same guy but I beat the best Omaha player in the country which shocked the guy who previously won the treble. Where am I going with this. Nowhere it's just that only your inner self will is worth the effort. My record will be insignificant in time. Time destroys everything but the present moment
