I loved this game back in the 80's as a kid. This honestly has one of the best soundtracks for the NES. I always loved the music in this game. GG Cowboy!
I solved this game by myself without nintendo power. I was the first in my family and friends to do it. Back when this came out it was a hard game not many liked around my neighborhood.
Yeah dude me too, cant belive it to this day, when i showed it to my best friend he had to recognice i was the best player on the neighborhood, cuz we were competing so much, but after this game i got braging rights, best years ever
I too solved this game and the uninvited without the aid of Nintendo power or other game magazines. Later as an adult with the internet, I found out 1 or both were first released as pc or apple games.
I asked my self, "what is it?" That makes me enjoy watching a mustache cowboy playing an old video game that I don't even get? And then I got it, It was kungfu... The idea of watching kungfu master. Trying to best himself in his art. I remember one time, I go with my mother to a local traditional market when I was a kid, and there I see this young man, selling coconuts. And as he serve his customers he joggles the coconuts like a bartender joggles bottles in bars, I watch him for hour, I asked my self the same question then, "what is it?" It is that wonderful feeling to see someone doing things that they are good at. Much obliged for the show sir. Gin,
Fun fact: the flute music that's played after you get it from the acid is the background music for DejaVu which was made by the same company and is the same style as shadowgate.
Hey Guy I Met Your Channel For A VictorKratos Video And I Found Your Channel Insane, Like You Closed Ninja Gaiden In Less Than Twelve Minutes (If I Had Written Some Wrong Word Binds Me Because I'm Brazilian)
@Johnathan Celso Uninvited is the rare game in the kemko trilogy. Uninvited is even more similair to shadowgate than deja vu is. Except instead of a creepy dangerous castle, you play in a haunted mansion, and you are an uninvited guest. Hence the name. Check it out!
I loved this game, I don't think I ever got to finish it though. Like we got to the guy at the end and the monster but ran out of torches or something. Spent way too much time looking around.
I played this on the computer as a kid and learned to click the unlit torch first to light a torch in this game; too many times I clicked the background of my inventory by accident instead of the unlit torch. "You have badly burned yourself"
How anyone figured this shit out as a kid in the early 90s idk. I was 11 and beat some stupidly hard games both action like ninja gaiden and RPGs like dragon warrior and final fantasy, but this one always got me
I rented this game when I was a kid. Got to the 3 mirrors part but couldn’t figure out past it. I remember yelling at my mom because she wanted to return it but I wasn’t ready. Renting this was a horrible mistake for me. I never recovered and am still stuck in that room. Nooooooo!!!
Shouldn't the clock have kept running until getting to the ending screen? I've seen other games when the timer still runs after the final boss is beaten..... Oh well
I can't believe this is all this game is. I spent hours upon hours playing as a kid and never beat it. Actually, I might give it another playthrough when I get a chance :)
It's a very short game unless you don't know what to do, then it could take weeks or months to figure it out. Deja Vu and Uninvited are really short games too.
I used to rush shadowgate when I was a kid. I think I got around 12 minutes but that was so long ago I have no idea if I remember right. I used to draw maps in school.
I remember wanting this game as a kid and it cost my mom $60 but i got so frustrated i called Nintendo hotline every time i got to a puzzle i couldn't figure out and beat the game the same day but i ruined the experience because i asked for help instead of figuring it out myself but the grim reaper scene always gave me chills, the music was A-1 though!!
Damn I thought I was good when I could beat this game in about 40 minutes, but I didn't skip anything. I would even purposely drink the weird potions that make the blue hair grow on the palms of your hands.
This dude is my new favorite. Finally someone who isn't yelling, pushing try-hard cringe attempts at comedy, etc. Almost like speedrunning ASMR.
Exactly
Preach!
So underrated I wish he had millions subs
One of the GOATs and best to ever do it.
Featured heavily in a Summoning Salt video and it feels like playing with an old friend when you watch him.
That soundtrack is so so good ,didnt know how many times i played just to hear the music, great memories
Same
Same here
Some good ones in Deja Vu and Uninvited as well. Same guy . Also Sword of Hope 1 & 2 for GB

My childhood is ruined, thanks, Arcus. I spent so many hours on this game as a kid only to watch you blast it in 13...
The soundtrack is oddly comforting and takes me back to 1990 watching my cousin and dad play this game.
Cousin and uncle for me mate
I loved this game when I was a kid. You had to solve the puzzles and think your way through it. Thanks for the memories.
This guy's memory must be absolutely phenomenal.
I loved this game as a kid! It had the best music. Thanks for running it.
I'd a lot rather hear him humming the Zelda II music. He kinda sucked humming this music.
Never would have thought of this game as a speed run. Great job!
My name is in Nintendo Power magazine for being one of the first-ever to finish this game.
it took me FOREVER to finish. Congrats!!
I asked my self, "what is it?"

Gin,
How funny. I would've never thought to do a speed run on this game. I remember it took hours to clock when I was a kid. This is gonna be fun to watch.
Fun fact: the flute music that's played after you get it from the acid is the background music for DejaVu which was made by the same company and is the same style as shadowgate.
The rod is in hand
Interesting choice for a speedrun, fun to relive this game
So awesome to see the game just the essentials.
I always loved the music to this game.
Some of the best music in NES history.
Loved this game so much when I was a kid. Won it the first time I played it, but it took me many hours longer than you!
this was one of my favorite games as a kid.
Hey Guy I Met Your Channel For A VictorKratos Video And I Found Your Channel Insane, Like You Closed Ninja Gaiden In Less Than Twelve Minutes (If I Had Written Some Wrong Word Binds Me Because I'm Brazilian)
Watching this game as a kid freaked me out lol
Man. You are just awesome. 🖖🖖Greetings from sweden.
Took me nearly 25 years to beat... Wasn't able to beat when I was 9. 25 years later, RUclips made it happen
It doesnt count in this game
Great Game , Great Soundtrack ! Thx for uploading !
The music is the best
One of my favorite games. Also a huge source of my childhood trauma and anxiety
Fun to see the full game, played it as a kid and didnt get that far.
This game was impossible for me as a kid, never beat it
Kaysler that was my first secret puzzle type game, it took me days just to open the main door lol

Loved this game as a kid, don't remember if i ever beat it. I'm going to see at the ending if I remember it.
Dude beat Shadowgate in 13 minutes... not fair, man, MY first play took me TWO YEARS.
Always loved the music, from what I remember you don't have to use the hammer on the mirror, you can just hit it
This game actually scared the hell out of me as a kid. Especially when I ended up in the Dragon's Den
Crazy. I've played this game and always got stuck. This dude gets further in 2:30 then I ever have. Might need to play this again.
I'm not sure what inspired the names of most of the spells, but I love how "epor" is simply "rope" spelled backwards.
Used to love this game.
I loved this game as a kid!
The first time I played this game I couldn't get past the second room...I think I was 5, though.
Same here. Think some ass adult knew what they were doing
Never knew that game, only bard's tale and the like.
I love you man but this speedrun is about as exciting as watching paint dry!
I played this on the computer as a kid and learned to click the unlit torch first to light a torch in this game; too many times I clicked the background of my inventory by accident instead of the unlit torch. "You have badly burned yourself"
That was impressive.
How anyone figured this shit out as a kid in the early 90s idk. I was 11 and beat some stupidly hard games both action like ninja gaiden and RPGs like dragon warrior and final fantasy, but this one always got me
I had an older cousin, 6 years older, and helped a very young me get by it, along with Punch Out and other games I never would have figured out alone.
Never played this, but I did play and complete Deja Vu, the noir detective game that ran on the same engine as this.
That was a fun game for my old Amiga
Play the uninvited
This game and Uninvited were my favorites! Never got to play Deja Vu
13 minutes to finish this game is pretty impressive!
Didnt know there was a speed run for this game. I did a guide on it years ago and i think it was about 32 minutes.
this game looks fantastic I even stop watching it so I dont get spoiler.
Yosemite Sam loses rage and ocds nes. Yehaw.
I rented this game when I was a kid. Got to the 3 mirrors part but couldn’t figure out past it. I remember yelling at my mom because she wanted to return it but I wasn’t ready. Renting this was a horrible mistake for me. I never recovered and am still stuck in that room. Nooooooo!!!
Awesome!
was there an exact way to know the answer to the sphinx riddle or was that just a matter of guessing?
Yeah man!
Shouldn't the clock have kept running until getting to the ending screen? I've seen other games when the timer still runs after the final boss is beaten..... Oh well

I don't think you have to use illumina to go through the right door where the gargoyles are
I used to rush shadowgate when I was a kid. I think I got around 12 minutes but that was so long ago I have no idea if I remember right. I used to draw maps in school.
Go for the world record....
