The MKWII community is blessed to have your channel and tutorial/knowledge videos. Not just because of how useful they are, but also because of how great they look. I really appreciate the effort you put into them because not everyone would do that... the aesthetics may be unneccsary to veterans but could be so important for entincing new players to the game! I honestly think you should start a Patreon lol
Similarly to the shortcut classifications described in this video, I would be interested in the classification for the "type" of track (luck, item based, neutral, running or elimination). Specifically elimination means nothing to me here. The general concept is obvious, but some finer details regarding the exact distinctions would be very interesting and much appreciated.
You probably get this a lot, but as someone new to the community your content is exceptional and I can't believe you don't have more subs. Keep up the work, Mr. Best MKWii Content Creator!
I love the mushroom skip, it's one of the best lines in the game, saving 1-2 seconds, and it can be trapped with bananas and FIB's to help you frontrun if necessary. A recommendation I also give is to do the wall ride gap jump(not the glitch) if everyone is bagging and are aiming for those 2 item boxes to do the gap jump on the last lap, and especially if you are on 100cc, you can't do the gap jump other than the wall ride version, or you're extremely good enough to do the spindrift gap jump, cutting off the least amount of the gorge. Again, one of my favorite courses that aren't entirely luck-based to help me beat extremely good players online.
This vid is really informative! Really shows how the shortcuts affect the race as a whole. A guide on how to take lines as the spear or the sneakster (despite the sneakster being pretty redundant), and the particular tracks where it’s usage can be effective would be pretty cool! Keep up the good work :)
Hey Arc if your reading this I hope you do more of these for the other courses because after watching this video and time trialing for a decent amount of time Mushroom Gorge is one of my strongest tracks based on lines. Keep up the work and I hope you come back to doing more of these👍👍
The ramps on this course are unique as they use a different collision type to any other ramp, they're more of a jump pad. If you hit the ramp at any given position it will shoot you upwards, instead of letting you drive along it until the edge like a normal ramp. This is why at the triple mushroom earlier it's better to stay to the right, hitting the edge perpendicular to the mushrooms. It's because you'll be hitting it earlier thus gaining air quicker, leading to an earlier landing. However if you hit the ramp from the side you'll be sent up later than usual and it will send you farther than you would normally. A bunch of other jump pads in the game have similar properties but give different amount of air time and speed, ie rBC3, rGV2, rSGB, rYF and battle stages such as Funky Stadium and Chain Chomp Roulette. The mushrooms on this track also have a jump pad collision and is probably the most obvious jump pad to a player in the vanilla game. I think off-road glitch should have been mentioned as it can sometimes, albeit rarely, be beneficial. For example if you get shocked you don't actually take a loss of your max speed, it remains the same as normal offroad glitch. Off road glitch happens when the unique jump pad type seen on Gorge is used and the player doesn't touch a mushroom (other jump pad collisions may be included in this I'm not sure as it would never really show up in a CT either). This means that if you activate a bullet bill after you hit the ramp in the cave and before you hit a mushroom, the bill should drop you after the cave, and you'll maintain off road glitch, allowing you to drive through the grass cut at the end shroomless. The only issue with offroad glitch is that wheelies and mini turbos don't gain speed, it won't impact a karter as bad but it's still worth mentioning.
Wait what!? I didn't expect to be the only person asking that, let alone being shouted out for it... thanks I guess. I was just wanting to understand. I take pride in building my knowledge and intuition, so i ask questions whenever I can to understand things as well as I can. Thank you again Arc. You're doing a brilliant job! Do you think there's a chance you'd cover the custom tracks if/once you finish the main 32?
5:20 I've seen people do this cut after having done the gap jump as a way to effectively use a Golden. Granted its probably a better idea to just go for the items.
The beginning shortcut shroomless is only faster if you get low air off of the second mushroom without hitting the fence, best done using mushroom abuse.
Ah yes the shroomless nlv shortcut i did this in my old timetrial and thought it was so cool but i aligned so weirdly that it lost time, thx for the video btw cause the lines part does different stuff from my inconsistent method which got me a 1:48:00
I pulled the shock beginning of lap 2, but I lost too much ground because the pack had speed items for the gap jump. I used the shock early lap 3, only to get gorged immediately after
@@Arcintel yeah that's the one, Just thought it would be worth mentioning in the video ALL ABOUT THE TRACK. Ah I'm joking, I would've at least mentioned it again though.
Hi arc! This about custom mkwii textures! All of my files are just called (eg): la_bike-fk and not la_bike-fk.szs should they be called example number 1 or 2?
The TF lakeskip can be done shroomless and lets you get a bit of a lead, but the course is not played around the lake cut. For the examples I listed these are course-defining, as players factor these cuts into their strategic decisions (to a greater extent than the TF lake cut) by blocking the cuts with items, shocking at a certain time to make sure nobody can take the cut, using a dodge item right around the cut, etc. I.e. the course revolves around being able to make (or block/ prevent people from taking) the said shortcut
Depending on the person, they add/remove categories as they see fit. For me, I see them as 5 (with CTS 7) And yes I do plan on explaining what the differences are in a future video :)
Oh, oops, sorry. I didn't see you asked this before I asked the same question later. I did try to go through the comments to see if someone else got to the question first, but I must have somehow missed this.
Can u make a video about getting a Mushroom in First place? I played the game for 9 years now, and it only happened once to me. Would love to see how that works.
If you get enough boxes in first place, eventually you will get a mushroom. This has to do with the fact that only a certain amount of items can exist at one time. On most courses I believe the number of boxes you need to hit in first is 16, though I could be wrong about that number. I also think that this can only be pulled off this way on BC3 and BCwii, due to the number of item boxes on the course (obviously without stopping at a box for multiple items from the same set). Furthermore, on tracks where items can appear as part of the track (leaf piles on MT and boxes on TF and rDS), it is much easier to pull a mushroom in first. As I said, I might be wrong on some of the specifics, but that's at least the general concept.
Ik this is not about mg but rr instead Im confuesed that the wr is kart Ik that its bc kart shortcut but does kart acually fain elsewhere if not why dont the wr use outside drifting bike?

Wow Arc you should be proud of this one. The quality is miles above anything else you've done. And it's quite informative.
I find these really really helpful and the fact that you cover so many different topics is just amazing i really hope you keep this series going

It’s like you knew I just failed learning the gap jump
this is awesome explaining the lines set by set was very generous
The best channel on youtube! Please make a video explaining wall clips?

Mushroom gorge, I see your a man of culture
I’m here for the lines for time trials, although i didnt learn much 😂 Was hoping for a more consistent way to do 1:41
if you can do a 1:41 you don't need a kickstart, you need a masterclass XD
thank you for this tutorial arc! you've earned a like and sub!
Amazing video Arc!

the shroomless sc at the beginning can be used to avoid red shells, i guess

What level is a course-defining shortcut that doesn't require a shroom, like the TF Lake Cut?
Bowser's Castle 3 shroomless, BC3 ultra, DK summit double cut, and BCWii halfpipe glitch come to mind
The TF lakeskip can be done shroomless and lets you get a bit of a lead, but the course is not played around the lake cut. For the examples I listed these are course-defining, as players factor these cuts into their strategic decisions (to a greater extent than the TF lake cut) by

Can you do shortcuts tutorial for wii wheels (I’m a wheel player)
Does the bc3 ultra count as a level 3 shortcut because it does not require a shroom
how did you do the freecam
