Been using one for 7 years. Love it. Has never let me down. Tab still going strong. I carry one cup and small butane propane fuel canister and tasters nasty in it at all times. 🤓
Here is my take on this stove. I consider myself an experienced hiker/camper/backpacker. I got this stove about 6 years ago now. It is not the lightest or most hip stove out there. I own multitude of lightweight stoves from other companies like MSR, SNOWPEAK and so on. This is by far my favorite stove. It is rock solid, and I take it on all of my camping trips. I use it mostly to boil water for coffee, meals, or even after dinner to boil water for cleaning. In my opinion the best thing about this stove is that I can put it directly on the fire and not waste gas canisters. It gets a little dirty but that's why I like it. I can beat it up and it never fails me, and that green plastic tab never came off or melted. I highly recommend this set. I even got this set as gifts for others. Great product. I have a lot of great camping memories with this stove.
If you replace the tab with a ring, before putting it over the fire you can make the ring stand up by sliding the ring into a locking position on the loop.
you can also pinch the bottom of the loop you're attaching the ring to. that will make it stand up when it needs to but still be able to fold down as well.
I`ve found that with using the key ring , you can close the handle on the lid and use the ring to suspend the whole rig from a tripod and the bale handle holds the full pot quite well.
If you want one of these today, they sell at Walmart for the same price. I bought two last year so I could have a spare. Since I camp solo I removed one of the plastic nesting cups and can store more stuff inside. As a bonus, at Walmart they also have an Ozark Trail 18oz metal cup for about $5.00 that the Stanley fits perfectly inside so you can have a larger coffee in the AM. ;) I love this set and it goes with me every time.
I wish I'd known about the Ozark Trail 18oz Stainless Steel cup. I would have bought it instead of the much more expensive Toaks 16 oz Titanium cup which is a perfect fit inside the Stanley. I discarded the 2 plastic cups which are in my kitchen cupboard.
I use only one cup but there is space for a windscreen, alcohol stove 2oz bottle of alcohol a small bic lighter, a spoon and a bandanna. In a cozy I'm all set for a coffee and dehydrated lunch. It is a great item.
yup, that walmart combo is the way to go. toss the green cups and you can fit a small fuel cannister, stove and utensils in the stanley, then nest the stanley in the shorter cup. the green cups are most of the weight, if you get rid of those you can certainly call this setup ultralight.
@@dkeener13 you can also add all of that including the ozark cup into a condor H2O pouch and make a quick go kit. Check it out. Theres several youtube kits as well if you search "condor h2o kit" for kit contents ideas. I have a small stove and a small lp tank in mine with a small steel wool for pot and cup cleaning. Coffee, tea, and sugar packets in the pouch front pocket plus a mini sawyer for a quick hike and lunch go kit. Check this out at Amazon.com Condor H2O Pouch (Olive Drab, 10... www.amazon.com/dp/B0068SYN5G?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This is awesome. I ditched the two cups in favor of one metal cup that the cooker nests in. Then I put a canister of fuel, a BSR 3000 stove, can opener, spork, wash towel, small bottle of dish soap, small lighter, small knife and small silicone pot holder. This this has so much potential it's awesome. I've seen people turn it on it's side and use it as a (small) oven.
@@azclaimjumper use a small foil loaf pan that fits inside the cooker and you can use the cooker to bake a small loaf of bread with a small stove under it or covered with some hot coals.
@@ryanmiller4890 You're RIGHT! I have several of those small foil loaf pans so I put one inside the Stanley pot; it FITS! EXCELLENT idea, thanks for being observant & reading the replies. I always find a takeaway or two by reading replies.
I kept one of the cups and found that small fuel canister and the BSR stove and a couple other items still fit inside. This is by far the best solo kit I have ever used. Even for two if one of us uses the metal nesting cup. I wrap a small microfiber cloth around the Stanley and it fits nicely into the Ozark Trail cup. Helps prevent rattling.
Owned mine for two years and used to bring it on every hike, when a meal needed to be prepared. But I replaced it with a 1100ml TI 'cup' last fall. The Stanley still works 100% as it should! The Stanley Adventure Cup will go to a young bushcraft novice, once the corona craze has ebbed, and we can go hike in groups again. It is the perfect inexpensive but reliable beginner cook system.
I’ve had this kit for years now. I do 90% of all my camping hiking in the wilderness area of the Adirondack mountains. Love the cook set. I personally have never taken the plastic tab off the top and never had a problem as of yet. The way I look at it I always have a key ring on me if something happens. Be safe and healthy
I love mine. I made a few modifications to it. - Added a bail wire handle, changed out the plastic tab for a ring, and instead of using the cups that come with it, I bought a cheap $5.00 nesting cup at Walmart that fits around the pot nice and snug. I put a little propane stove in mine, with a lighter, a small container of fuel, a scratch pad / sponge, a container of S&P, / Bam Son tasty seasoning and a dry rag for clean up, etc. Works great.
I have been using mine for a couple of years. I love mine. A lot of people don't like the cups and they replace the lid tab with a split ring, but mine has been no issue! The cups are perfect for a pack of oatmeal and a coffee at breakfast or the pot and the cups are great for a meal and a cup of wine. Great piece of gear and great review! Thanks!
I finally happened to pick up one of these sets through REI for about $12. I've come to notice that all Stanley products that I've purchased have always been well made and durable. You can't say that about every brand that's commonly sold at Walmart!
Yeah I bought this set but due to the fact it was so heavy, I just went and bought an atv. Weight problem solved. Now since watching this gear review I’ve become a risk taker. I used to only fill the cup with 10 oz of beverage but now I don’t really care what anyone thinks, I fill it to the brim. Gotta love this product. It’s changed me in more ways than one.
I have had one of these for about 7 yrs....Love it. I have never used the cups. I use a metal cup with a cozy. I like this so much, I have given several as gifts and have a couple stashed for gifts or emergency use. The lid also fits the 18oz glacier cup and other vessels of similar diameter. I agree, Luke. The value is solid. One cannot go wrong with this kit. The plastic cups are not for everyone. Take them away and it is still solid value. Toss them or use them for dog food scoops....whatever. Thanks
Excellent product and amazing price! Finally a company that is not greedy and overpriced, well done Stanley. I'll buy more of their products just for that reason to support them.
We love them! we have 3 Stanley cook sets. We had our cook sets for several years and they still look as good as new. I would recommend them to anyone looking to getting into backpacking or even day hiking. They are reasonably priced, most of the Walmart’s carry them. There are not the lightest but they are very durable.
I've used mine every day for two years, I love it. For backpacking, I remove one cup and can fit a canister stove and a small isobutane/propane mix canister inside with one cup and the lid on. Also, it's made in the USA. Great value at a reasonable weight, especially for 2 - 5 day trips.
@@phillipnunya6793 Everything is made in China these days..... thanks to the Commy dems that drove all manufacturing the hell out of America with their pro-worker liability policies that make manufacturing companies leave the USA in search of friendlier business climates over seas.
I love this set! I use a key ring for the lid- when you want it to stand up, "wind" the ring onto itself a little. For my set, I ditched the plastic cups and use one of the Walmart tin cups. The Stanley pot nestles inside. Inside I put my fuel canister and Msr stove and a rag. Put that in a nylon drawstring bag, then everything into a Condor water bottle bag. Room for spices, utensils, fire starting kit and a few other things!
Been using mine for over a decade. Still works and looks brand new. I use only one cup, put my stove in it, and then put one of the small fuel canisters in it. Perfect fit. The Walmart nesting cup is a perfect over the bottom as well. And the lid from the pot perfectly fits the cup! I keep one of the plastic cups because you won't burn your lips when drinking something hot. Never had a problem with the handle.
This is my favorite kit and I found it at Walmart maybe five to six years ago for $14.99. I replaced the green tab on the lid with a metal key ring and the two cups with the stainless steel cup, also at Walmart, for $4.99. The cup nests neatly on the bottom of the Stanley pot. Inside the pot I store an alcohol stove, a Bic, and a couple Trioxane tabs just in case I run out of alcohol or HEET. If you want to keep the lid intact, there's a lid by DZO that has a metal triangular tab that will remain upright and there are strainer holes in the lid. The DZO lid also locks on tighter than the original Stanley lid. I've had the Stanley pot topple over in a campfire once spilling the contents, soup I believe. I've purchase other cooking kits but the Stanley is my go-to for overnighters.
I watch a lot of videos from different outdoor channels all over the world. And I have to say. Your videos are in the top ten of my most favorites cause it's easy to watch when it comes to the points TIME, CONTENT, NO NONSENS. Greetings from Germany.
This is an awesome set, using it for years and never let me down. Even use it at home for a quick ramen fix. Edit: It's the same size as the Nalgene 32oz/1ltr bottle and fits perfectly in a lot of bottle holders and cups like the Tatonka handle mug.
I’ve had this set for a years. Still holds up. I only use 1 cup, then I have more room for my stove and fire starting kit in the can. I love it!!! I got mine at Walmart. It was $8. My tab is still on, hasn’t melted at all. I leave it standing up while I boil water. No problems whatsoever!!!!
I bought the same product last fall. I use it almost every weekend at camp. It's part of my go-to coffee kit with the pour-over method. Can't go wrong for the price. It does what it's designed to do.
I have this system and love it. I took it cross country motorcycling. Used one cup for coffee and the other for instant oatmeal. I used a Coleman Tritan two burner propane stove and it performed flawlessly. Really enjoyed your review.
I purchased the same set a few years ago from my local Walmart and I have given it quite a bit of use. I would definitely recommend this product as mine has served me well.
I added the Walmart Ozark trail cup to mine and with a little Dremmel tool work fixed the lid like pathfinder cups and added holes for the fish mouth spreader. Absolutely love it
Took my old one and made a cook kit for my son. You can hold a mini bic in the bottom, nest a 100g gas can upside down, and put your stove/burner on top of the gas can (we have a Pocket Rocket 2 wrapped in a bandanna in there). The pot will nest in a cheap stainless steel camp cup ($4 at Walmart). We also keep a folding can stand (like the Jetboil version) in there. Great kit.
Any clearance issues between the outer diameter of the pot base and the inner diameter of the Pocket Rocket support legs? Looks like it would just barely fit and not be very stable. Thanx, ^v^
@@taproom113 I wrap it in a bandanna. Fits fine. No rattle. Of course, the stove is disconnected from the fuel can and the arms are folded in. Are you thinking I'm keeping it all connected?
@@mclostinthewoods Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was referring to when you're cooking with it and setting the base of the pot on the new PR 2 support legs. The base of the Stanley doesn't seem to be wide enough to rest solidly on the PR 2. ^v^
@Timothy Mckee - I just used a split-ring for a key chain. If you slide the split-ring just a bit, as if you are starting to take it off, it stands up and doesn't fall over. Slide it back off, so the "split" isn't holding on and it falls flat for packing. Honestly, if I wasn't using the cooker on open fires and it was relegated to stove use only, I wouldn't have bothered. The plastic tab works fine for stove use.
I've had one for years and it's still going strong. Melted the tab off when the fire got too big. Replaced it with a wire and have no issues with that. I carry my coffee and other small things inside it. Works great. As for the built up smoke on the outside, I take mine to a stream and get a hand full of sand and it cleans right off with a little scrubbing. The narrowness is a small problem, just be careful when you sit it down and issue solved.
I love my Stanley cook set. The cups went to the dog food bag, the lid has a split ring, two small holes drilled across the top for a fish mouth spreader to hang it, the Pathfinder strainer lids fit.
Have used mine for years. Two changes I made, removed the plastic lid handle and replaced it with a flat metal key ring. Didn't put it all the way through so it stands up and will lay flat when you want it. I also drilled two holes on either side of the lip and made a bail so I could hang it over the fire, very handy!
Grabbed one from the bargain bin at Target for $7 a few years ago. Probably the most bang for buck piece of gear I've ever stumbled upon. I put one of those larger flat key rings through the lid and never had an issue with it falling over. Finding the right stove for it has been the biggest challenge, but the Evernew Ti DX stand has worked for me. Granted that cost 3 times what the pot did :( But if I flip it upside down it fits over a trangia burner perfect and the the pot sits nice and stable on the 3 prongs. Ditched the cups for a Sea To Summit X Cup. All of it nests inside the pot with room for fuel, a folding spork, and some coffee.
Yeah it's a great piece of kit I've had mine for about 3 years and it's been bomb proof. It nest with any 95 mm pot, mine nests with a 550 ml titanium cup (which I use as a bowl) and both take the same size lid
I've carried one for many years. I added a stainless steel nesting cup to it and the lid fits both the cup and pot. It adds another steel cup to use, increases what you can do while cooking food. Thanks for the video man loved it🍻
I’ve had mine for about 5 years with no issues other than breaking the plastic tab at the top. I replaced it with a soda can tab. Keep an eye out for stores putting these on clearance. Target had these on clearance for $7.49 so I bought all they had and put them in bug out bags, short trip packs, and in our emergency box.
I've been using this kit for the past couple of years. It lends itself to customization. I've replaced the plastic top tab with a keyring, and I leave one cup out so I can stuff the pot with a couple of food packets, condiments and utensils.
Thanks for the review! I just bought this and discovered that the aero press go nests perfectly inside… For those of you who love brewing up a fresh cup of coffee this is a great setup!
I've been using this pot system for years. By leaving the cups out, I can put a 3.88oz gas canister upside down, with my Soto Windmaster stove and folding 4 prong pot support on top of that and still be able to close and lock down the pot lid. Thanks for your videos, they're well thought out, unbiased, and informative
Bought one on a trip to the USA a couple of years back. Picked it up at the store that just screams "Murica", Walmart. Seriously, any place where you can buy a frozen dinner, thermal underwear and a shotgun under one roof, at the same checkout has to be a winner!
I bought this set about 5 years ago and love it. I did the split keyring mod and you can overcome the ring falling over by feeding some of the ring over the notch to keep the ring upright. I've used this in many Scouting adventures and showcase this set in my Camping, Wilderness Survival, and Backpacking Merit Badge courses for Scouts. BTW, another mod, the filter press portion of my old Bodum French Press (where the glass carafe broke years ago) fits nicely into the pot to make French Press Coffee (SCORE!). Like I tell other adults I've camped with on backpacking and other Scout outings, just because we live with the animals on an outing does NOT mean we must drink coffee like the animals. I also carry a BRS2000 isobutane stove, folding titanium spork, small bottle of camp suds, and a small piece of scouring pad inside the pot to make it a fully self-contained cook kit. The pot itself sorry nicely in my stainless cup (just a few feet down the shelf from this jewel of a cook kit at Walmart). Thanks for sharing all of your reviews and adventures!
Awsome stuff , I have the whole set, been using them for a long time. I make all kinds of complete meals for four. Lightwieght, durable. I found a cool cleaning trick, soft scrub with lemon has pumice.
A nice no-nonsense review. I’ve been using this humble Stanley cookset for years, and I agree with you that it represents an excellent value with very few negatives. It’s practical, functional, durable, and versatile. It’s a no-brainer for anyone’s budget-conscious bug-out bag or vehicle get-home bag. Any stability issues can usually be worked around, and the circular indentation on the bottom fits perfectly on the built-in pot stand of most “Fancee Feest” style cat food can alcohol stoves, which also fit inside the included cups. Keep up the good work on your videos.
Good review. I saw one of these several years ago in Walmart (2012?) and bought it for just under the current price ($12 I believe). I’ve used it many times since. Outside of discoloration from wood fires it still looks the same as it did in the store. While some have said the tab on the lid has melted that’s not been my experience but if I’m ever careless enough to have that happen I’ve already made a stainless replacement tab that I’ve taped to the bottom of one of the cups and it should work about as well (1/8” stainless TIG wire is good for the tab). I would like to suggest if 10 oz. cups are an issue, that in the same aisle I also found 16 oz. stainless cups ($3 then I believe) that nested pretty well with the container and the container lid fits them well and can act a smaller companion pot if wanted. As an aside, I’m glad to see you’re still using your chest rig but every time I see yours I’m reminded the one I ordered hasn’t arrived lol.
Damb you luke for being so trustworthy on your reviews lol. I've been on the fence and kept from purchasing this pot set for like 3 years though kept putting aside. Your review made me pull the trigger. The reason for putting this purchase off for so long is because of the price here in Canada $29.99 +tax on amazon.ca and other reviews iv seen seemed to be a lot of paid off reviews. another reason to make the purchase is a name like Luke the guy has to be giving an honest review. Thanks you and Suzy for the great content and hope you guys are getting some range time. Hope you guys stay safe and god bless. From New Brunswick Canada.
I’ve been subscribed for a couple years. I’m binge watching your vids to catch up. Thank you for all of your content and unbiased reviews. Oh and by the way the Stanley cook set is down to under $10 now. Arrives today. Thanks brother. Cheers!
I bought one ten years ago for my car emergency kit. There is room inside to carry 2 solid fuel tablets, Esbit stove, potgrabber, matches, teabags, sugar and broth packets. That's enough to boil some water and get a little sustenance until help arrives. I love it.
I dont use the cups and found that my old french press screen from Mr Coffee fits perfectly inside, I cut the rod down so it fits inside as well when unscrewed from the screen. So it holds the press the screen the coffee and other things on my motorcycle camping trips.
I’ve been using the Stanley pot for four years now and it’s been fantastic!! I got rid of the cups and was able to put a small fuel canister ,stove and canister stand in it.
I have this in my truck filled with a bunch of stuff for an emergency kit, in the kit I have some fire stuff, backpack mini water bottle, and a bunch more.
I've been using it for years backpack elk hunting in CO, canoeing in Canadian wilderness and at Philmont Scout Ranch. It fits perfectly it side pocket of pack. I use just one cup so my stove and folding spoon fit inside. Awesome product!
Love this product! 4 years now and still running strong. Just added holes to the side and a fish mouth spreader to be able to hang it. My green lid tab is kinda still there lol.
Clearly Canadian-I got out 5 times this season and shot a lot of footage on 1 of them with the intention to make a video. I was using movie maker before but MIcrosoft got rid of it after the Windows 10 rollout. I’d have to look for editing software first.
@@banshee107 awesome bud were you using the bell tent? I'm literally having a baby like in two day's🤣 so I have no time to get out the way I'd like but check out my Lavvu hot tent video if intrested
One of my favorite cook pots. Walmart sells a stainless cup with folding handles that the cook pot nests perfectly into. The lid from the cook pot also fits perfect on the cup to make a small cook pot. Just another option. Keep the videos coming brother.
I have two of them. Removing the cups I can put two small propane canisters with my tiny jet cooker. Plus lighter tea or coffee. I then nest it in my metal cup.
James Gibbs I think it’s a mixture because it does not freeze in the wintertime. I’ll get the canister and take a photo for you when I did it out of my gear box. Price hmmmm it’s been awhile since I bought one.
Stanley has been beast for years. I haven't had this set up but have a thermos and remember my grandfather always carrying one to the mill. You totally beat them up and they will last a long time.
Some comments you might appreciate Luke. The split ring is an excellent improvement. If installed properly. Install the ring normally but stop half way before it completely is installed. This offers tension to stay in an "UP" or "DOWN" position. Another mod you might consider that has worked for me. Drill two small (1/8+-) holes just below the lip of the cup. One hole located near the center of the handle and the other 180 degrees to the other side, just below the lip. Purchase 2- 12" (+-) stainless swivel/snap type leaders from your favorite fishing supplier. Nylon coated if you prefer. The small holes should be drilled in line with the handle. If not, the handle could unbalance the contents in your cup. Grind 1/8" +-, off the tip on one side of the handle. This will aid in removing the handle for storage and will not compromise the operation of the cup handle lock. De burr and the handle slips in and out with no problems. Also the stainless cup (that should be near the Stanley cook set at Wally World) fits nicely over the bottom of the cook set. It appears yall like the green cups so I'll not comment on those. Without the green cups, you can jam tons of stuff in the cook set. Foil (for wind screen, cooking, etc), seasoning, small 110g fuel canister, gas stove, couple WYSI towels, refrigerator :-), etc. Thanks Luke. Stay healthy
I bought mine around the same time. I took 1 cup out and was able to get a small canister and my stove inside. Still would need something else for a utensil, cloth and food, but big deal. Love it! Stay Safe Luke! God Bless!!
I`ve had mine for yrs. Keep one in my hunting /hiking pack and one in my truck. I spend a lot of time outdoors. I don`t keep the cups with it, instead I nest the pot in a $5 Ozark stainless cup(Wal-Mart) and fill inside with whatever else I need.Awesome price, this is a great quality item has been used under the hood on the manifold, on my pack stove and on the fire. You will not go wrong with this one.
I used one for years, and gave it to a young friend who needed something like it. I will be replacing it in a couple days. It you leave out the cups, you can stick a 28oz peanut butter jar in there. The pot, cover, a GSI-type cup, and most of a survival kit in the jar, in a pounch with a quart bottle and a couple of contractor bags. My mods are the split ring for the lid, and hose clamp for mounting a bail to.
I've had this for 7 years. It's great. Ditch the cups, store your cook system inside, nest with a GSI cup...and boom...best budget cook pot available. I've since switched to Toaks titanium, but the Stanley will always be in my emergency kit and it's the perfect starter for anyone new to cooking outdoors. Oh, and right now, it's $10 on Amazon.
I too have been using one for about three years. I usually hike single, so I ditched the two cups and put simple cook type items inside. It's an awesome little pot that you can use on a stove or right over the fire. I replaced the plastic tab handle with a cable key ring. The cable has a slightly larger threaded barrel that locks perfect in the lid loop allowing the cable to stand up without any assistance. Thanks for sharing
It will nest perfectly in a $5 GSI cup, and the lid fits both. I also use a windscreen from a piece of aluminum flashing that fit's in the nesting cup and the Stanley cup still fits in both.
I have that kit. Had it for a while. I took the green cups out & replaced them with a cup where the lid of the pot fits the cup. Threw in a gas container & stove, matches, chemical fuel to start my fire, sponge, soap & spork. I have my kitchen in this little container & I love it.
This cup set is awesome. Best bang for the buck! I found the Nalgene Goyot Design Stainless Steel Backpacker water bottle nests perfectly in this cup. I ditched the green cups and used the stainless steel cup and lid with a pouch to make a nesting canteen kit. The Stanley Stainless steel cup has more capacity than a GSI cup, which helps with boiling enough water for meals and hot beverages. The Stanley Stainless steel cup also nests atop the Nalgene Stainless Steel bottle to make char cloth or charred punk wood fabulously. I also disconnect the side handle and slide it inside the canteen pouch while traveling, and reattach it when needed.
this was the first cooking pot combo i bought when i started camping, have never needed another. i only use one of the cups, but they work really well. i replaced the plastic with a keychain ring, but after a while i ended up taking some stainless steel wire and shaping a removable "V" hanger to hang it over the fire. i just drilled out two holes near the top so i can hook in the hanger when i want to use it.
I use mine all the time, love it! I put a fuel canister in upside down, then a pocket rocket2, lighter, and a jet oil canister base folded up. Works for me 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I've been using that cook kit for years. I love how everything nests inside. It holds one cup. my wind screen, fancy feast stove, fuel container, mini bic lighter, spork and a towel. It is a bit heavy but it's bullet proof. Great value at a great price. Thanks for sharing it.
@@kpazsoldan I used a heavy duty roasting pan. I cut it to fit inside the kit. It works great, it's lightweight and cost pennies to make. I also replaced the cup with a collapsible cup the wind screen rolls up and fits inside nicely .
This was my first cook set. It was at least seven years ago. Since then I have gotten many high end like toaks but still go to the Stanley quite often one solo trips. I thought the same as you that it was a great value.
Thanks for the video - I bought 2 of these, one for me and one for my mom. We both like backpacking/camping/bug out gear so I put together 2 personal cook sets and ordered up a bunch of Mountain House meals for us to split. Your videos have greatly influenced my purchasing decisions. So far the BRS stoves, Stanley cook sets, Mountain House meals, and my Litefighter 1 tent have all been great purchases influenced by your videos.
The best kit for the money by far. The GSI cup ($5) fits around it and the lid fits both perfectly. The small gas canisters fit inside with a small stove or a Trangia style alcohol stove fits inside. I made a light windscreen from aluminum flashing that fits in the nesting cup around the Stanley set and has holes for a couple small pegs to hold the cookset above the alcohol stove. Boils 16oz of water with less than 1 oz of Heet fuel in 5 minutes. Hard to beat.
Love this pot! I've taken mine to the northwoods and the deep desert - backpacking, bikepacking, you name it. This thing is bombproof and one of my favorite pieces of kit of all time. I did ditch the cups; I can fit my fuel, stove, utensil, and a small camp towel in there, no problem.
I’ve honestly had this set for years and didn’t have to modify it at all. I have never buried it in a fire like I would my canteen but have left it on for a while no problems. Good little kit for coffee lovers.
Have had and used the Stanley cook set you featured on this review for some time now. No complaints, traded tab for split ring key ring, made slight bend in ring to assist in manipulating it. Great piece of kit. Enjoyed the review.
I have the same thing. I took the cups and measuring cup out and added my own fire kit and eating utensils but I absolutely love the stainless pot. The lid also fits on the wilderness outfitters cup keep around the pot.
Finally, you found it and did a review, I have had mine for over a year now and love it. I found that a GSI cup is great to nestle the cook set in and it fits perfect. You can pick up a cheap version for $5 at Walmart. Great value and very useable. Glad to see you like it.
This was one of the first things I purchased for my backpack. I ditched the cups and use a nesting cup I bought at Walmart I store my back up lighter and tinder in the pot along with some TP. Love mine and continued to be a great investment.
Hey Luke, I love my Stanley set, I like alot of people took the plastic tab off, I have a key ring on it that will stand up and if I am just removing the lid I use my leatherman multi tool or a stick. I got rid of the cups and put my MSR pocket rocket stove in with a fuel canister, small bic lighter and it all nestles in a stainless steel cup. biggest con for me was how small the bottom of the pot is, It has problems sitting on the pocket rocket. I use it in fires with no issue but if I use the stove I usually use my stainless cup to heat up water for me. I only rally use it for coffee and ramen noodles. Pro for me is the small size and it all nestles together. This kit is a staple in my hunting day bag! Keep up the great reviews!! Love what you are doing, the whole strength and honor line!! love it. I use a little different one. VP(valour and pride)
I have been eyeballing this cookset for years but never took the leap. I just bought two from amazon because since you reviewed them Luke they will probably raise the price now. Thanks Luke. :)
It’s funny how a couple days ago I found your channel and I haven’t stopped watching you. You give such quality and honest reviews. Keep up the great work!
This brought a smile to my face ....i bought one of these from the surplus store near the sas camp....in the uk Stanley is generally known as a tool company....i was intrigued when i bought this....as you say the mugs are very solid...yet i dont use them as i find them too heavy....also i realized a small gas can fits upside down in the pot+ a really handy thing is the pot will slide into a UK webbing pouch ...a little tight ...yet fits all the same so if you ever wear webbing on walks, its really handy....like you say though the bottom is narrow with curved edges so you must choose your burner stand well....its always handy to carry a mini grill top...i have a honeystove so use the grill from that sometimes....dont use my honey stove much though as i got pissed off with slotting it together...so use hinged alternatives...keep up your good work....i just noticed you have the exact same spoon as me too lol....the highlander light weight spoon...best spoon ive had.
Been using one for 7 years. Love it. Has never let me down. Tab still going strong. I carry one cup and small butane propane fuel canister and tasters nasty in it at all times. 🤓
Scott Myers I’m impressed ... it’s a fucking pot. It will outlast you.
@phuc me in the single serving packs.
Same here. Only use one cup so can store fuel cannister and stove in it.
Ditto! Pot w/lid, 1 cup with butane canister stove, fuel, lighter. No problem with tab. Happy camper!
@Yar Nunya I've used very high heat with my Stanley pot with no warping or damage. It's thick enough to keep it's shape.

Agreed.

Same! I’m not buying this stuff for 💩 & giggles. I’m buying to invest in myself & my future. I don’t have $ to waste on over hyped products.
😂agreed!
Was going to make a similar assessment
mlsknnr I replaced it with a heavyweight key ring
you can also pinch the bottom of the loop you're attaching the ring to. that will make it stand up when it needs to but still be able to fold down as well.
I`ve found that with using the key ring , you can close the handle on the lid and use the ring to suspend the whole rig from a tripod and the bale handle holds the full pot quite well.
Also, I have not tried this, a titanium key ring (CountyComm). Titanium would not hold the heat.
I have the Ozark cup too . Never thought of stacking the 2 ... Thanks !

He can make ramen with that
Ugh, Amazon reviews, where people give 5 stars for receiving the right item 🤦
Buckman840, perfect comment and agree 100%. 👍
@phuc me while thats a possibility, it likely doesn't happen all that often unless its a sponsored video for most channels.
Whey aye ye knaka, can ye not see the black on the bottom and the dents?
This is awesome. I ditched the two cups in favor of one metal cup that the cooker nests in. Then I put a canister of fuel, a BSR 3000 stove, can opener, spork, wash towel, small bottle of dish soap, small lighter, small knife and small silicone pot holder. This this has so much potential it's awesome. I've seen people turn it on it's side and use it as a (small) oven.
I've just filed away in my brain the potential use of my Stanley cup as an OVEN when turned on its side.
I see your reply has just been honored & selected by the Lone Wolf as the HIGHLIGHTED reply
They were still $9.99 at our local Walmart.....have one for each family member...bulletproof and not overly heavy
@@tokyoundead338 keep your green tip to yourself and you won't have a problem.
@@tokyoundead338 How bout a green tip to yo head, lol
Great solo kit, used mine about 4 years now. Keychain ring on mine. Thread it partially thru, and it will stay up or lay flat as you choose.
Me three keychain ring is awesome it can be turned to stay up also works the BEST;)
Stanley has really upped there game when it comes to a lot of there outdoor gear...
Iv been impressed with them lately.
I'll buy more of their products just for that reason to support them.
ive had this set for years now, its held up like a manhole cover and its always in my camping bag. thanks for the content luke! be safe!
Mine is made in China, and I'm pretty sure all of them are.
I have this set, the pot set and the frying pan set and I love them! Stanley makes some good camping cookware!
Absolutely love it
I have this set, had it for years, it’s great. Grab tab is not a problem.
Got mine about 6 years ago, it still goes on trips with me. its a great piece of gear at a very good price.
No reason to tear off the tab. Just push the pin out with a punch and it comes off and can be put back on if desired.
@Timothy Mckee - Rocket stove, I can that!
I didnt tear mine off.. i cut it !
I’ve had mine for several years now and thinking about buying another one. Welcome to the “Green Cup Club”.
Samuel Hoover Good catch finding them that cheap! I’d get 4 more today if I could find that price!
I've been using this kit for the past couple of years. It lends itself to customization. I've replaced the plastic top tab with a keyring, and I leave one cup out so I can stuff the pot with a couple of food packets, condiments and utensils.
Stanley does make a larger version of that. Comes with 2 bowls and bowl covers.
Thanks for the review! I just bought this and discovered that the aero press go nests perfectly inside… For those of you who love brewing up a fresh cup of coffee this is a great setup!
Fits perfectly in the Condor water pouch and can be LOADED with accessories.. been using this for year's;)
The Orca one too.
@TheLawDemon LOL! True dat!
Stanley has been making great products at a reasonable price for many years.
Many years = 108
But now made in China
Great video! I love my Stanley cook set! I've had mine for several years now with zero problems. Thank You for the great info.
It's so refreshing to have a gear review channel that's agenda free. You are a unicorn. Please, keep them coming.
Great kit bro. Im using it few years. No issue on grab tap plastic. In fact i bought another one just for spare. Value for money.

I have one in each GHB. I ditched the cups and use it to store a fuel cannister and a backpack stove.
Bang same! Fits like a glove
Which stove do you use?
I bought one ten years ago for my car emergency kit. There is room inside to carry 2 solid fuel tablets, Esbit stove, potgrabber, matches, teabags, sugar and broth packets. That's enough to boil some water and get a little sustenance until help arrives. I love it.
THE FRENCH PRESS IS AWESOME TOO.
French lol. Never seen French outside Murica
French toast too lol
Indeed. I use the french press at my house instead of the Coffee maker. Stanley makes a great product.
@@samuelalley7331 Huge fan of this with the french press option too Stephen! Makes excellent coffee, and doesn't have the plastic tab.

things on my motorcycle camping trips.

How much is small jet cooker cost? Does it run on propane?
Sorry obviously it runs on propane just wondered are they expensive?.
James Gibbs I think it’s a mixture because it does not freeze in the wintertime. I’ll get the canister and take a photo for you when I did it out of my gear box. Price hmmmm it’s been awhile since I bought one.
James Gibbs can’t past photo. Check out Dick’s sports. ISOPRO / pocket rocket.
Stanley has been beast for years. I haven't had this set up but have a thermos and remember my grandfather always carrying one to the mill. You totally beat them up and they will last a long time.
Lol luke I have been using this for ever love it... replace the green tap with a steel key rin and it’s gonna last you for thr rest of your life
Some comments you might appreciate Luke.
I have had one for years also. Very versatile, does not take up much space, and for a solo camper is perfect for meal prep. Buy it!
I do the same, works great! Keep a small fuel cannister, stove, scrubbie and lighter inside .
I bought one of these about 3 years ago and love it. Well priced and rugged to boot.
What do you use for a windscreen? I made one, but it doesn't nest inside.
I've had this cook system for years and I love it! Ditch the cups and you can fit a fuel canister plus ur stove! Great buy!
Finally, you found it and did a review, I have had mine for over a year now and love it. I found that a GSI cup is great to nestle the cook set in and it fits perfect. You can pick up a cheap version for $5 at Walmart. Great value and very useable. Glad to see you like it.
I bought that set a few years ago. Best purchase I could have made. Very reliable and easy to clean.
