RIP Brods. So many great songs that recall a period when Australians not only made things but were proud of who we were warts and all. And even more, a great time for Aussie musicians before we became bland
One of our greatest singers and so under rated. RIP Broderick.
I am Australian...and more than proud to be!
We are lucky to be Australians.
RIP Broderick.
Can you believe 6,000 views & not one bloody comment
Are they all deaf & dumb or just don't like good music
Broderick is world class & should be much more appreciated
WELL DONE
Vale Broderick, Aussie legend and unforgettable character
Should be our national anthem....great work Brod!
Fantastic song. Vale Broderick Smith.
Best patriotic Australian song ever written.

Go overseas. The best part is coming back home.
Heard this song on radio last night (haven't heard it for years) couldn't wait to get up this morning and listen to it again with kids, it's great being an Australian!!!

What a lost classic of Australian music. Gave me goosebumps
Fantasic ode to the good ol Aussie boilermakers and welders
Loved this song when I was a Kid, in 1981 I was 12. Remembering seeing it on countdown. This isa great song, gets to the heart of it, stirs up the emotion in me, one of the most patriotic songs Australia has. Broderick Smith thank you for one of the greatest songs about our wonderful country.
I've only just discovered this song. It's great! There's a live version just been posted. Search "Countdown- 20th December, 1981"
Should be our National Anthem.
Love Broderick Smith
Love this done.
Very proud Australian.
I remember watching Brod interviewed about this song in 1981. He said then that the chorus was at least partly ironic. He said "Lucky to be an Australian? Well, kind of lucky..."
heard this song when i was a kid and thought it was awesome. Its up there with the songs that little heroes released. These songs will only be remembered by us old buggers but if it doesn't give you a good feeling to be an aussie, i don't know what would.
Great 'Australia Day' song.
Once, long ago, before globalisation, when we were the best kept secret.......

Great song......it has got to be 35 years since I last heard it. Love the photos of the vessels, hoppers and pipe spools in the background. Sadly not to many fab shops left anymore.
