I agree with you on standing starts & better chassis, but all road/street circuits is not a sound business model for IndyCar. Even in CART's best days, several ovals were on the calendar. Twistys and roundys together provide a greater challenge for the drivers than just one track type or the other. IndyCar still has room for improvement, but remember how dire things were in 2009, before Randy Bernard and his good sense?
F1 has 12, well 11 now, different manufacturers trying to find a way around the rules to gain tiny amounts of time. Red Bull are very good at it. Spec series are one manufacturer. There are 4 engine manufacturers I'll admit that development is currently limited but its still 4 different approaches. Spec series have one. All series have to conform to strict rules. I didn't mean to be rude in my initial post I was a bit drunk so I apologise for that.
It took only a couple of races to realize that (1) CART had way better cars than Indycar, and (2) the races were much better. Standing starts, better chassis, all road courses. The way things should be in open-wheel racing!
I loved the Panoz DP01 chassis, especially compared to the ugly-assed Dallara chassis' of IRL. These new chassis' are even uglier than last years. I agree that they should've kept some oval races in their schedule. Those are where the rolling start is exciting. The standing starts added an air of excitment and variety on the road and street circuits. Rolling starts are BORING on those circuits. I wish the individual teams could choose who provides their chassis' and not the IRL.
it is not a direct spec series like indycar, but the technology is far more limited than in sportscar racing for example and the series is heading to more spec direction. and tires are already spec, not to mention many of the other aspects of the car. educate yourself...
This is real Formula racing, Indy car is no fun to watch. The Izod engines are silent, like the Civic Si's engine (maybe they use that engine in the indy cars dont know, lol). Now the LMP/hybrid open wheel look just doesn't seem right...that and a few drivers that done really seem like they belong. CART had some real good drivers and fast cars. Indy cars are also too SLOW to go along with the strange styling and silenced engines.
standing starts? seriously? standing starts make the beginning of the race interesting. rolling starts are so boring. the start of a formula 1 race is known as the best spectacle in motorsports. more series should take off f1. theres a reason f1 has such a bigger following than every other series.
Champ Car was the best. I wish we had CART instead of the IRL.
Wait a minute Indycar on Zolder? 😳
This was a good series, what went wrong? Better than F1 today.
Imo the one positive glimpse into the potential of US open wheel racing since the split. Oh what could have been...
Only 17 Cars? Dark Dark days of open wheel Thing are looking way better now!!!
@Walldude82
Bourdais is driving for factory Peugeot LMP1 team, Vettel is in some boring spec series... :P

Duh, by "some boring spec series" I mean Formula 1
@Walldude Vettel is in Formula 1, and he's leading the standings by a flipping mile now. How could you not know where the German is now? LOL!!

F1 isn't a spec series...
These standings starts suck.

This was the death of Champ Car. Ugly Panoz chassis, standings starts and no ovals.
JUST PLAIN WRONG!
