This was great racing and a phenomenal product, there were a lot of mistakes by IRL and CART, but this a sample of the type of car that they need aim to implement in terms of performance and conpetition, add the current safety improvements and you will have such a nice series !
Really Sad to see so many empty seats and stands for the Race. Started watching the Cart 500 milers with the 96 US 500 (Seats were Full) a couple of weeks ago and am up to this race now, gradual fall off in crowd every year, Sad!! These are the True Indy Cars!! and Racers, not that knock off that the IRL put on display. IRL did get better once these drivers & Penske & Ganassi went back to the Indy 500.
Alex Lozano Oh god, I've wanted to know where to get that starting grid music since about year 2000 :-D. I immediately went to Killer Tracks to searh for "Punchdrunk" or "Punch Drunk" - it's not there :-(. Do you have a link for it perhaps?
El rezagado lo hizo ganar esa carrera a Montoya creo eso ayudó la succión y le saco los centímetros necesarios para ganar , gran carrera esa época fue muy hermosa grandes pilotos y la podíamos ver por ESPN en Argentina .
Every time they interview Vassar I get the feeling he is high, speedy dude. I guess he tests negative, but, he displays all the symptoms of a speed freak. I still prefer CART to Indy, but nothing beats a good old fashioned non wing sprinter, nothing. I got a taste of Ascot back in the 70's with Deneo, and the Bromme crew. Sprint car folks are special, now I see why so many open wheel guys grew up on dirt in a sprint car.
Come to think of it, I was looking at my sports almanac and found that Tiger Woods won the golf tournament. So ABC wanted the ratings that Tiger gives networks and ignore a fading sport.
CART in the late 90's and early 00's was such a great series to watch. One of the best finishes I've seen, even if it was due to the handford device
One of the best race of the history of the motorsports!!! Montoya and Andretti!!!

Amazing finish!
This was a great race, and what a finish!
Anyone know what the name of the song in the Starting Grid is at 5:05?
It's called "Punchdrunk". Look it up on Killer Tracks.

@@dodolurker I found it where he says !!! Finnaaaally..!!!!!
@@NicolasESB Whoa! Yes! Thank you so much, this is so cool!
Why did ABC stay with the British Open instead of showing the start? It was a really exciting race from start to finish.
this race is so good that in france eurosport used his commentary in their highlights of that race
Gotta laugh at Page mistaking da Matta's refueler for him--apparently he didn't notice that guy was about a foot too tall to be Cristiano!
Hey guys, do you know any book for the complete history of CART/Indycar Series?
montoya is BACK ooo yeahhh
JPM would have been a multi year Champion if he stayed...

1:48:06 - Almost puled a Greg Moore, scary
I was at MIS in 94 and 96. CART in 96 ripped at that track.
