    Traditional clothing is beautiful. But this is not about preserving tradition. This is about infringing upon personal freedom. One day it is their clothing being controlled, who know what's next?

    I like how when people say the people of Afghanistan is suffering they always focus on places like Kabul, which is the previous republic's seat of power. Afghanistan's urban population is 30% of Afghanistan's total population. 70% of them is rural. I wonder how the rural Afghans see the situation now.

    • @vanlao6367
      @vanlao6367 3 года назад +249

      Because like many other country, the capital means everything. That's where most embassies will be set up, where most foreign dignitary will come, where most politicians will count on the population's vote. The capital is the face of the country, so it's more important than the rural area where people still lives their lives the way they are whether it's the Taliban, the ANA or the American rule them. And if you think it's not bad because "only 30% of the population is suffering" then remember that the urban population consist of many highly skilled workers - doctors, engineers, technicians etc. If their lives suffers, then they will leave Afghanistan leading to the brain drain crisis.

    In my country, people wear traditional clothes during special occasions like weddings and some holidays that require to wear that. In some offices, you may find men wearing 'traditional clothes' but a bit modernized to fit the generation. Women are wearing modern western clothes which are not revealing and formal looking.
    As far as I am concern, in Vietnam high school girls are wearing traditional clothes as their school uniform so I do not see anything wrong with Taliban imposing that rule.

You can't and before you know it these women have to be stay-at-home housewives because their outfit stops them from being able to work or study properly. ....... That is the problem with the Taliban as it is subtle changes......Already curtains have been introduced at universities where women must sit on one side and men on the other, women are no longer allowed to be reporters ( apart from International female reporters) and people ( women) are no longer allowed to protest........These changes will keep happening and before you know it women will have no rights once again.

      It is all politics, the local CCP doing it to prove their effort "lifting up 800 million people out of poverty" so they (local officials) could get a chance at the high table (politburo)

They still wear sparkly and stylish clothes but they don't advertise it to the public. Only other women/ their inner circle (husbands, family) will get to see them wear it. So that's why those clothes shops for women haven't been closed by the Taliban. Also keep in mind that these Taliban are the children of the original Taliban. They lived their whole childhood and life in fear and war and uncertainty. No human wants to live that type of life.

    I don't know what the big deal is no one questions the Amish or Mennonite even though they to have incorporated some western ways but dress wise no. I see them all the time it does not bother me. Its a culture and some cultures thrive when they do not adhere to total western indoctrination.

      But those groups choose to do so. Previously all women under Taliban rule had to wear full burqas and those who didn't were punished. I'm happy with a woman wearing one of her own free will, but having it forced upon you is what I disagree with.

    Nothing wrong with traditional clothes. And the women don't weer burka at home. They can, and do, wear all those flashy outfits at home. They can wear whatever they want under the burka.
    I wonder how much of this is true reporting and how much is just implying something which is not the case. I'm sure people are not rushing out to change their complete wardrobe.

    The Taliban now calls Afghanistan 'The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan', but i don't see the governing of Afghanistan so far under the Taliban like an Emirate. Do they even know what that it means?...The UAE is a true example of that. Perhaps the Taliban needs lessons about it from the UAE.

      No. Muslim women can wear any clothes they want. Wearing beautiful clothes is our sunnah. Even Muhammad and his families wearing beautiful clothes. BUT the clothes must cover all women body and not tight. Muslim women can wear jewels and perfume. That why many muslim women is crazy with accesories.
      Jewels is a symbol women status. Its only taliban took the rules in ekstrimes way.
