You need to write a cook book and sell it. I will be the first to buy one... Promise! As always you have come up with another great recipe. Plz don't ever stop coming up with new ideas.
You can make these with any kind of flavor crust. I first got this recipe about 20 years ago from Paula Deen. These are very popular in the south. Also known as gooey butter cake and it is delicious.

Sassy mama thank you for sharing your recipe. For Southern chess bars. Simple to make. Way it looked when .You showed the side View. The bars look like they. Would be soft and chewy. Got to try these. Have a great day. And keep bringing us great recipes.
You should write a cookbook most of your recipes are simply and easy and not really expensive at all I tried one of you recipes I tweaked a little and it was delicious

With the whole box of powdered sugar that sounds like it'd be pretty sweet. Do you think it would be ok to use less? Or is it less sweet than it sounds? That's kind of a difficult question. 💝
2 questions. How did you figure out store bought mix does so much? And did you put any flavoring in the cream cheese mix like lemon or vanilla? Thank you.
Hey! Thanks for watching. I figure out a lot with mixes by just trying stuff. I have filmed a whole recipe before and it didn’t work so I didn’t post it. Trial and error. Some things I look at the ingredients and if the ingredients are similar to “regular” cake mix I just go for it. I didn’t use any lemon or vanilla flavoring.
I’m not born in the south but ooooooooo my God these are sweet//sassy and will take care of your sweet tooth !!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣✌🏻💖. How did the name CHESS evolve ???? Thanks muchly😍😍😍😍
The name is somewhat of a mystery, but I attribute it to the phrase "just pie" or as in the southern accent is spoken as "chess pie"...so these are just bars, or "chess bars". I am not sure where the recipe came from, or exactly how it got its name, but it has been in my recipe box for more than ten years. Thank you for watching!
just an Food Safety point of information. Never use plastic bowls with a blender. you actually put plastic shavings in the food when you do this, my grandmother did this and found large chunks of plastic in our food, and only realized what had happened when she did the dishes later.
Southern Sassy Mama No no I mean when you combined the powdered sugar and the cream cheese it was thick almost like a paste and cream cheese is thick by itself. But it switched from a thick paste to creamy and I was wondering did you microwave it? Add milk or something to make it creamy?
Not really.. I think it would be delicious as a pasta dish...add some white or red pasta sauce and lots of spices. Just cook it all separately then mix it together. Or even, chop it really small and make a dollar tree pizza with it. :)
I usually saute sliced onions and sliced peppers any color, once those are soft and sauted, I slice the kielbasa into maybe half inch slices, toss those in with the veggies and saute a bit until kielbasa is a bit browned up and it's a delicious meal
So glad your back, with easy peasy delishousness 😋...
Thanks for showing what it looks like when it's done!

How did you get it from a thick paste to the creamy liquid stage?
There’s a bottom layer-the crust. Then the “filling”. It creates layers as it bakes. Very good. Thanks for watching 😊

why are mine always dry, even if I take them out early
Pardon me for asking but what is a Dollar Tree recipe?
All the ingredients came from a store called the dollar tree. You can use any brand from any store though. Thank you for watching!
Sweetie that is no different than gooey butter cake
I know sweetie
Are you getting paid by Dollar Tree? My Dollar Tree does not carry these items. So, I will purchase them from some other store.
No but I wish I was lol 😂 thanks for watching
the background 'music' is so annoying.
