  • This video is about Mount Bohemia which is located in the northernmost part of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Mount Bohemia has the longest runs with the highest vertical and deepest powder in the Midwest. This hidden secret is a true treasure for backcountry skiers and riders. The average snowfall in Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula is 273 inches. The lake effect snow is dry similar to western resorts and accumulates as powder which is untouched because they do not groom.

Customers are the worst, sometimes customers are completely unreasonable. Good grief.

I'm wondering why so much resistance to giving a refund on an activity? Looks like a business run by desperate people who don't respect their customers and the big picture.

Ski margins are low. Most ski areas are slow to give refunds. I have been skiing for decades and I got one voucher over those many decades. Never a refund. The man knows his mountain and knew the lifts were going to run.

My non-consultant opinion is that you need to get all the Midwest shop owners out to Bohemia. Once they have a taste for what’s in their backyard, they’ll never recommend anything other than Bohemia. Just my two cents!

Love these videos guys! The combo of schtick and genuine day-to-day operations drama is really entertaining and insightful into how a legit "mom and pop" style hill is run. Don't listen to the guys in these comments, you handled the situation as well as you could have. I can't think of a single resort out West that doesn't have the same policy, there are no refunds for weather-related closures anywhere that I know of...you offered them a rain-check ticket, what else do they want? Take it and go to Indian and come back later, or don't! I've seen all-day wind holds at Vail and Squaw before with 1000+ people crawling up the ass of guest services...sorry, that's the way it is sometimes people! Lift safety is a serious issue and wind is one of the big things that makes bad things happen that gets people hurt/killed, but some guests don't wanna hear that they just want to dive down your throat cause they think they're the first person in the history of the world to have their weekend plans screwed up by a weather problem.

They should’ve given the man a refund. He didn’t ski, use their lifts, etc. No resources used = money back; unless he signed a contract to the contrary at the point of sale.

Just in case you ever come back to this, I've never heard of ski areas giving refunds unless they are fully closed for the day. If they were closed for the full day a refund would be reasonable, but if you decide to go somewhere else that's on you. Maybe I'm just too used to getting screwed over by Vail, but I'd at least be happy to talk to someone in person who knows what they're talking about

Usually you sign something at the point of purchase which makes you agree that you purchase with no option for refunds. Part of the game.

No not really. He did them a favor. I am not from the mid west but how good could Indian Head be? They know their mountain and weather. Hell I ski Killington Vt every week and I know the weather there.

@mtadams2009 Indianhead is garbage. There are only 3 places in the entire Midwest worth the cost of a ticket. Bohemia, Lutsen, and Granite Peak. If Bohemia has no snow, maybe Snowriver is worth a look
