An amazing cover. I know Byrne loves this version too. I am 54 and cannot get enough of these beautiful and talented ladies. You can tell how much fun they are having when performing live. Go Hester and Rhian!!
When i first heard Wet Leg, i thought of the Flying Lizards. And again this song is from the same era. I guess this is why they appeal to young and oldies like me (55)
I just discovered this band like 30 minutes ago and I love their energy. Then I spotted this cover of a song that has been my favorite for last few years and I've reached out to a couple female artists asking them to do a cover without luck. I couldn't be more pleased with this here
Yes, this is a very sweet tribute ❤️ to the Talking Heads. I have been waiting for a new sound like this. So, where did these girls come from anyways? Did they just appear fully formed one day?
People, this band showed up like 6 months ago. And everything they do is near perfect. I just hope that they stay the same and keep developing their ideas the way they are now. If they do, man, they're gonna go far and high. They already shown us a new sound, I can't wait to see what's in store.
What new sound? And why do so many female singers sing in this style? It's as annoying as melisma. Never loved the original song so much but this is boring. Maybe the music is better on their other songs but this grating, sleepy style of singing is unbearable.
Just heard them this week and this was my exact first take - they're like an upbeat Sonic Youth. Someone else mentioned Suburban Lawns, which might also fit. Whatever it is, they are punk as fuck and I love it.
I forget that I had the playback speed set at 0.75 and listened to over half of the song thinking "how high were they when they recorded this...?" now listening back at normal speed thinking " I really love this band"
Fantastic..... a girl in high school gave me her copy of Talking Heads 77 album because she didn't care for it.... she thought I would like it and she was right! Love the nod to the original TH album graphics.
Now the question is...Does Rhiana sing the French bits With the mistakes????? You see David Byrne didn't speak French and so the original French bits weren't sung correctly...And subsequently many covers kept the mistaken French!!! I'm not fluid in French enough to tell Myself. Maybe We could get Tina Weymouth to clear up this important and pressing question ; - )
It's completely pointless to even attempt to cover a masterpiece like Psycho Killer, unless you can genuinely add something original to make it your own. This did.
I wonder how WL would do with a gentle song - who's up for Rian singing and Hest doing the scatting on a cover of Aprodite's Child's "Break"......🤔 Edit- They've even got the "frying pan" guitars off pat. (I hope people know what I mean by "frying pan" guitars!)
I like that this was (pretty much) a straight ahead cover. I get the feeling she would do it at karaoke essentially the same way. Of course it wasn't karaoke, the band was super tight and that bass tone was perfect, but the way she ended the song and laughed made it seem like a one off. Just a lark...Probably not how it went down, but it does make me wonder...In any case it was fun and well-made, which seems to be their M.O. ;) Yeah, they've been building up steam for awhile now and I think the stars have aligned for them... I never looked into it, but I assume at least some of them have to be art school kids like the Talking Heads were...
They both started a music course some 11 years ago and both dropped out. Hester makes jewelry and Rhian's most recent job was wardrobe assistant on ads and music videos.
I’m 70 and and haven’t felt this excited about a band in years
63 & I hear ya!!! Luv this band.
Nor have I so up lifting woman power 💥
😂
i'm thousand years old and i haven't felt this excited since Bach dropped his last album
46 yo
This is both faithful and distinctly Wet Leg.
Mark my words… This is going to end up on a soundtrack in the next year or two. Absolutely Cinema ready.
An amazing cover. I know Byrne loves this version too. I am 54 and cannot get enough of these beautiful and talented ladies. You can tell how much fun they are having when performing live. Go Hester and Rhian!!
Same age. They take me back to the joy and fun of the 90s.
Chris & Tina dig this version, too
Talented blokes too!
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Just when I thought I couldn't love them any more they only go and cover my favourite band!
DID IT WELL AND MADE IT THERE OWN TOO.
Right?! Amazing
Almost feels like we're getting some Blondie vibes with this, especially on the spoken word sections
Now I want to hear them cover Atomic!
When I first heard Wet Leg I immediately thought of early Blondie!
@@tomyeo4687 Well their drummer better start practicing hard if they're to cover Blondie 🤣🤣
I am 137 years old and have never been so excited for a band. But I think my hearing aid is broken, because part of this doesn’t sound like English.
I couldn’t think of a better group to cover this song. Now to see Wet Leg AND David Byrne do this song together
id say no thanks to david byrne! don't ruin a band i like by putting that guy in the mix
Check out Cage the Elephant version, it has a more energy to it, more of a old school rock angle to the song..
Yes, her droll delivery is perfect for this great song.
That would be a great honor for David
I'd rather see them with Tina and Chris. Tina deserves the most credit for this song.
Wet Leg should be available on the NHS to lift the spirits of the nation.
I was pointed to them because of interview with Dave Grohl, who said something like "and a band named Wet Leg is about to rule the world!"
The Offspring of Lena Lovich! I like what I'm hearing!
I thought exactly that when I saw them live
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS FRANTZ !!! b. May 08, 1951.
asking for a joy division cover is probably too much right?
You won't get a Banshees cover tho
The guitar talent isn't there 🤘
Rhian! Omg, killing it. I just hope Mr. Byrne has heard this. It’s perfection.
Agreed, her voice is perfect for this tune!
And lets not forget the band is really tight on this one!
I believe David has listened to this
@@jeremymanson1781 really?
When were you between David Byrne & Wet Leg...
& what magazine interview did you read while you were there?
;-D
Next , they should do a cover of the Flying Lizards cover of "Money (That's What I Want)"...
When i first heard Wet Leg, i thought of the Flying Lizards. And again this song is from the same era. I guess this is why they appeal to young and oldies like me (55)
Yesss, that would be perfect. I had the same thought last night
I’m also thinking Lucky Number. (Lene Lovitch) Bit of a bonkers theme going on here! 😂
@@andygilbert1877 My Dad said they remind him of Lene Lovich.
I don't normally think cover versions are as good as the original. I'll make an exception for this one though!
This one is soooooo good!!
Wet leg an talking heads are sharing the same weired sense of humor, I loved talking heads in the 80's and now I can't get enough of wet leg🤪
The appeal of Wet Leg is so strong I think in part by the fact they don't take themselves too seriously. This is a strong example.
Thats is what it makes serious
me when i got the *psycho killer* autism instead of the being good at maths or science autism
Chris Frántz sent me here!
The Talking Heads sent me here.
The name of this band is Wet Leg.
Thankfully I can read.
@@strangewayfaringstranger you didn't get that comment, but that's OK.
"I can read". LOL such a noob. And i can see you're not a Talking Heads fan.
Wet Leg: 22
I see what you did there
Funnily enough, I am tense and can't relax. That's why I have been a punk for three decades.
You guys know that , right?
This cover is totally on point.
This is actually really fucking good
I love these kids. They never intended on being such a big hit. They are more talented than they think.
Love her dead pan delivery 👍🤘
that's the key to all of it, I think
Its like Talking Heads with Karen O to front the band.
I just discovered this band like 30 minutes ago and I love their energy. Then I spotted this cover of a song that has been my favorite for last few years and I've reached out to a couple female artists asking them to do a cover without luck. I couldn't be more pleased with this here
I love this band. Great cover!🔥
Wet leg are a fantastic band in there own right, but as far cover versions go, this is the biscuit taker.
Would you like us to assign someone to butter your biscuit?
More of a buttered muffin taker, I'd say
All that I can say, David, approves of this
👑🤘😎🤘👑
Wet Leg rocks
This is awesome. 🤟🇬🇧
I love that song even more now !! Awesomeness
Yes, this is a very sweet tribute ❤️ to the Talking Heads. I have been waiting for a new sound like this. So, where did these girls come from anyways? Did they just appear fully formed one day?
they formed in 2019, been friends since college, just felt like having some fun and then their songs starting gaining big popularity
@@jesscervi5366 ok, thank you for the answer

It's not a new sound who are you kidding 😂😂
If you're wondering about the bath robes they're Tekla's at 180 € each, yw (you're 20 p short)
This song actually is so wet leg
They can cover anything and make it exciting again. I wonder how many artists are clamoring for their previous hits to get WET LEGGED.
People, this band showed up like 6 months ago. And everything they do is near perfect. I just hope that they stay the same and keep developing their ideas the way they are now. If they do, man, they're gonna go far and high. They already shown us a new sound, I can't wait to see what's in store.
Actually have been around for almost 3 years.
Not a new sound, but they have great execution for sure.
they been around longer than that. Probably wont last. but thats ok.
What new sound? And why do so many female singers sing in this style? It's as annoying as melisma. Never loved the original song so much but this is boring. Maybe the music is better on their other songs but this grating, sleepy style of singing is unbearable.
I hear nothing special at all.
Like a high school band that's well produced and hyped by the right people.
Every generation gets the Flying Lizards it deserves.
Such a perfect comment 👌
Almost “Mark Twain” like
Great cover, great band - thanks for sharing!
Reminds me of Sonic youth, Wet Leg going to be a great influence for future bands
Just heard them this week and this was my exact first take - they're like an upbeat Sonic Youth. Someone else mentioned Suburban Lawns, which might also fit. Whatever it is, they are punk as fuck and I love it.
@@one0nine They're not punk have a word with yourself 🤣🤣🤣
I say it as I hear it and Sonic Youth came through to me straight away. Throwing Muses also. Who cares if it’s punk or whatever? It’s so exciting!
What a great way to flesh out an album while you're still working at producing your own originals. I love some covers better than their originals.
This is so perfect it's disturbing.
I finally get why Gomez Addams used to lose his mind when his wife spoke french!😍
Her phrasing and inflection are much better than original
I'm pretty much over the novelty, but I keep watching just to look at Hester
Babababababaaaa it’s wet leg keeps you wet dream lozenges unbelievable sun burning rusty
I forget that I had the playback speed set at 0.75 and listened to over half of the song thinking "how high were they when they recorded this...?" now listening back at normal speed thinking " I really love this band"
Strange find for me, as I always describe Wet Leg to those who have not heard them as having a real Talking Heads vibe.
está permitido tocar psycho killer novamente nas balada, não está mais sujeito a multa 🦤
I found this while browsing youtube drunk holy crap this is amaziong i cant believe this exits
This band was genetically engineered to be my new favorite group. Here is a deal Wet Leg on tour with Little Big, I would pay to see that.
Can't speak for David, but I bet he's proud of this.
GREat gtreat and here I'm singing along smokern away
5 stars
Pls cover The Doors. Not to touch the earth
Is this a cut from their debut or from a soundtrack?
They did it for a radio show in the UK. Otherwise don't see it on any streaming platforms.
Fantastic..... a girl in high school gave me her copy of Talking Heads 77 album because she didn't care for it.... she thought I would like it and she was right! Love the nod to the original TH album graphics.
easily their best record
Am I good baphomet no original sin
Now let The Chats cover you!
Hope Wet Leg stays with us for years ...
Should have gone into the live freak out at the end. The recorded version never captured that.
OMG this band just get better and better, what an awesome cover
Son la ostia chicas, las amo!!! ❣
I hope they put a version of this up for sale - love it!
It's not often a cover is as awesome or maybe more so than original fucking hell yeah man
This is a great cover

I was sceptical, much as I like Wet Leg. I was not disappointed. They added their own special sauce whilst letting it sound how Talking Heads intended.
Girls you're perfect!!!!
I guess that this must be the chaise.
OMG, this is brilliant- more covers please!
Holy CRAP! Just simply fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want Wet Leg to cover Dry Cleaning's "Viking Hair" and Dry Cleaning to cover "Chaise Longue" 👍
Been consuming Wet Leg for months now ;) ;) on the yeow teowb, but it took until Talking Heads official posts this for me to know it exists ?!?!
PS> It's awesome!
They have excellent taste. And I nearly clicked like before I clicked the link.
Love love love wet leg! Ime 77 - always tag on to new music!
