Most of the time the sneakers are actually more expensive during resale. In reputable sites like stockX or the Goat shoes actually sell for more than the retail price.
I don't buy them, but I'm assuming it's because of the availability of these particular shoes at the time. If stores were offering them at $200, but most stores in your area are sold out and you really want the shoes to show off, there will be people willing to buy used ones for more because they want them that badly.
