Rest in peace Shaun Martin!
Bob's solo is what sax is made for.
Anyone else find themselves unable to stop smiling when watching these videos? Love these guys!
Im with you 100% I love all of their music but i think We Like it Here may be one of the greatest live performances of any genre from any era.
Absolutely
Also when listening to them on Spotify I always smile and bang my head to the rhythm with a stank!
@@MetehanDoyran Are you familiar with Cory and the Wongnotes?
@@stevenpipes1555 Yesss!
Damn. Even playing the triangle with Snarky Puppy looks bad ass.
Yep. Even though you just sit at the back, an' ting.
haha... 😆 so true
@@wyrdstone85 😆
that's because it is
I agree, each and every one of them, every note, every sound is insanely precise, very close to absolute perfection...
Fun fact...One week ago I was walking alone in Amsterdam with a huge smile on my face listening to this song and a guy asked me for a lighter and what I was listening to. Random human, hope you enjoyed this one!
I'm old so I never thought music like this could still be a thing. It's like Steely Dan and Chicago fused by Quincy Jones.
I'm not sure music quite like this has ever been a thing!
Seems like we were shot from the same musical gun Joe! I commented as follows on another YT vid. I left it in full:- "As a youngster I was a snobby classically trained pianist with a penchant for 'difficult' chamber music by Bartok, Janacek et al. I also loved sophisticated 'out-there' modern jazz. I looked down on "rock" as inferior until one happy day... a younger work colleague lent me the Dan's "Can't Buy A Thrill". It was about the same time in the mid-seventies that "Haitian Divorce" made the radio playlists in the UK. The jazz chops, the key changes, the irony of the esoteric lyrics and the sheer professionalism of the arrangement and engineering led to me become a lifelong convert. Steely Dan became the soundtrack of my life. But this is not simply a personal tribute to the genius that is SD. No way! This is a resounding plaudit for Leonid & Friends, so tragically split apart by Putler's insane ambitions for territorial expansion. Forget geo-politics for a split second! Listen instead to the perfection of this cover of "My Old School". Wow...words don't cover it! It would be a perfect compliment if I likened them to a slavic "Snarky Puppy". Michael League jazz aficianados will know what I mean. Leonid, who like me, is an older guy is now a hero of mine and an inspiration to us all! Don't even get me started on Ksenya Buzina. What a talented hottie! Check out "Speck of Dust" immediately, if not sooner!!!! (FYI I have been a youtuber since God was in short trousers. This is my very first comment. Richly deserved, Leonid!)" Enough said, right?
@@iannicholson7205 Thanks, especially for the tip on "Speck of Dust". Fabulous cut. I'd only seen Leonid's Chicago covers. That was brilliant!
YEP!
Exactly!
The switch between Larnell, Jt and Jamison is just amazing holy shit 🔥🔥🤌🏾
didn't even notice it... crazy
I played with one other drumer once and the sound and groove is great, but staying tight together is freakin hard... and they did it basically for a whole album and through the crazyness of Snarky Puppy... simply above top level.
This is a Micheal League appreciation comment... The bass here is so much in pocket🙌🏽🙌🏽
Snarky Puppy: Never a corrupt, incomplete or bad tune....
and always played with a cherry on top!
Can't get enough of Bob Reynolds solos. He's a monster !
His vlogs made me understand a lot about a professional musician's life and training! Explains why his sound is so great, he is really critical of himself and never neglects fundamentals.
Indeed he is!
just so tasty.
Best solo on the album. Perfection.
Like Michael Brecker reincarnated…
Anyone else getting a Michael Brecker vibe?!…..this band never quits….amazing!😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥
That f#%ing bassline at the end is mindblowing!!!! Michael League take the bass playing to a whole new level of complexity and simplicity at the same time. And the way all of this musicians work together as a whole is nowadays the best music in the world.
This is my new Snarky puppy favorite song, can't stop feeling the vibe.
the more I play that part back the more I'm blown away.. insane
Timestamp?
I listened to only metal for 25 years, then I found these guys and havnt stopped listening to them since
You know a song slaps when Larnell is looking around at 3:38 like DANG! Listening to these songs has already been enjoyable, but seeing the joy on their faces when they play makes it even better. Can't wait to see you guys live again!
Watching Larnel’s engagement with the band always makes me smile like crazy 🥹😂
3:18 love this walking bass
love the walking bassline at 3:18
yes, that kills, I wish it was louder
The bass in this song is killer!
Sometimes I forget to listen to Michael's bass playing. It's so tasty.
I've never been so happy to clean my house till i do it listening to Snarky Puppy. This band is keeping my mental health in good shape for years, thank you guys.
I’d like to fold these pieces of music into an envelope n carry them every day n if I need ta smile just pull the envelope out n look n listen it would change the whole worlds story☮️📌😎🎶😇such a fantastic lineup of musicians
1:41 Bob hitting the solo riff while the rest of the band plays the transition lick. 👌
This should be required viewing / listening for all 8 billion people on planet earth 🔥🔥🔥
😀
Reynolds solo here showcases masterful style and phrasing. Good funky keyboards from Justin Stanton- nice seeing him in the mix chopping it up. Larnell's snare sound is on point, and that last fill made light look slow.
😀
how he started that solo in combination with the drums is so fucking good
@@EtiKai13 he plays with such an awareness of his position in the overall music. A solo tailored to the context. While that might seem a matter of course, to see it done this well is uncommon.
You should watch the what about me excerpts if you wanna see the speed of light.
@@JeanPJams I have watched that more than is healthy…
The intro has STRONG "Bad Kids to the Back" vibes (which I love), but it's so fun how different the rest of the track is.
Bob coming in at 1:19 is just gold.
Bob Reynolds popping off on that solo
THIS is not a band. It's a MODERN ORCHESTRA. And it is COMPLETELY awesome! Thank you for the light you shine into my world.
Who else enjoying that Snarky puppy every once in awhile keep giving us this new tones ♥️♥️
My little rehearsal band tries to play these amazing songs, with some success, and just playing them brings wide smiles to all of us. Beautifully crafted, funky, clever and satisfying - the Pups are not just for Christmas they are for life.
Amazing how a good harmony can be repeated throughout the entire song, without the need for variations... I love you Snarky Puppy
I usually think my favorite Snarky Puppy song / album is whichever one I am listening to... but this song is REALLY SPECIAL!
The composition, arrangement, and performances are excellent as usual, with yet another outstanding tenor sax solo by Bob Reynolds and a fantastic playout by Justin Stanton on the keyboard. These guys just don't stop giving us the best music in the genre... and the dueling horn mini sections at the end?!?! WOW!!! JUST WOW!!!
Thanks Mike, Maz, Justin, Chris B, Larnell, J.T., Bob R, Bob L, Mark, Bobby, Bill, Chris M, The GREAT Nate, Jay, Zach, Keita, Jamison, Marcello, and of course, Shaun Martin. You guys teach me something new EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I put on one of your recordings... and your performances have literally brought joy to millions!
Snarky still got it, 20 years later! Love this tune.
that ending was gold Larnell!
Props to the mix engineer for making everything discernible in this beautiful cacophony of sound! Not an easy job, despite the musicians being so on point with their parts and sounds. I hear you!
Jazz orchestration at it's absolute finest! Who needs that many drummers/percussionists - Snarky Puppy do and boy does it work!!
apparently a song gets groovier with every single added drummer
It amazes me how well these guys play off each other - lots of space still left in the groove even with multiple drummers/percussionists!
Its when you really stop and look at the DETAILS, thats when your mind really gets blown...
I do love a fresh snarky track, these guys never fail me. True music artists.
Absolute FAVORITE song on the album
Absolute FAVORITE album from Snarky.
damn straight
I always knew fruit is good for you 🙂
Is it OK to have every song as a favourite?? :)
My favourite band hands down
Me too. Swings so hard
Really enjoy Bill Laurence's clavinet playing on this one
Power and awesomeness of live music played by talented musicians
I had a feeling they'd release this one next. Hopefully the next one won't be as long of a wait as this one was lol
Every. Single. Person. On. Point.
These folks are the best at what they do!!! Love these cats!!
So proud to have the greatest modern fusion band in the world, from my Texas neighborhood!
The base idea of the song is so simple, yet so complex with all the details and decorations throughout the song. I love it! Snarky Puppy always makes me so happy! ❤
That song definitely has that feel-good vibe that you don't see in their other songs
This is why I love this album so much. Simplicity is the bedrock of every track and in my opinion that's something the group got a bit away from in the last...say 2 or 3 albums.
Oh Larnel... keeping everyone on their toes with his syncopation and his antics at the closer
Pineapple makes me want to get up and DANCE more than any other Snarky composition. Pure joy 😎
Make 'em wait for it Larnell!
It still blows me away that they all waited even after two fake-outs...and then all NAILED it together. These guys are all insane.
Idk why but the intro of this song reminds me of Rainbow Road from Mario Kart and I absolutely love it!
This is just the most gorgeously upbeat song on the album. And I'm not necessarily a fan of upbeat songs, but this one gets me happy every time I listen to it.
Feb4th..Ground Up I'll be there!
oh Larnell keeping the band and audience on their toes with his playing and his jokes
The kinda jazz that has licks, shifts and improvisations that can pop a smile. Quality stuff 🤌🤌
So many great songs on this album. Excited to see them in Atlanta in April. Love the Bob Reynolds solo (as always), and Mr. Lewis asserting dominance at the end.
I've got Mezz tix for ATL too!
@@FunkCitynet I'll be right next to you on the Mezz. I am sure they will make their last show on the US leg of the tour a memorable one.
I'm seeing them at the bandshell miami concert in February.
They didn't disappoint. Wish that they had played Pineapple at the show, but they killed it with what they did play. Might have to pick up tickets for their show in New Orleans in October.
Sax solo is my favourite solo in this album. Listened to it at least 50 times. Killer intro. Fantastic melodic and thematic development. So many moments. Expressively played. Fantastic climax. That Coltrane quote hits so hard. I also love the two notes ending on the up beat.
yes, for some reason, I love those last two notes as well. Just killer. . . .
Bob is killing it. Thank you.

Сколько крутых инструментов, живут же люди...
THE TEAM IS BACK
So glad I found this
Love Love Love!!! Just a great musical group! And... Larnell just cracks me up ! FANTABULOUS!!!
The swing of this song was so hard my favourite song on the album for sure
Listening to the album everyday. Can't wait for Free Fall and Honiara! Waiting for you guys in São Paulo, Brasil!!
This song is just sooooo groovin'. That Larnell fill at the end is sick!
best in the world...from the 1st song
Nice to see how they get the iconic keys off all eras to have a real wide palette at hand, Yamaha CP70, Fender Rhodes, Hohner D-6 clavinette, plus the reissue of the Mini Moog and the Dave Smith (Prophet V) as well digital Korg synths. Great mix and arrangement, 3 guitars, 3 keys, 3 drummers, 3 percussionists, great solo by Bob Reynolds. Thanks for sharing.
This song is so groovy! One of my all time favorite Snarky Puppy songs!
Ayyye his headphones stayed on!
How clean is this recording and mixing!?!? I wouldn't believe this is recorded live if I hadn't watched them live 4 times. I think it's time to accept the fact they are all musical aliens!
How does one get the chance to catch their live recording?
@@wilsonosethey announce/release tickets on their Instagram, Twitter etc a few months before I think - then you just gotta hope you can snatch them up before it's too late
Also amazing with live recording is Emmet Cohen’s sound team. They record in his lounge room and the sound is incredible. Emmet and also Aussie ensemble The Consouls record live so frequently it is no mean feat, especially The Consouls who come up with jazz arrangements of 8-10 different vgm tunes every month.
Never better than when recording live with an audience like this, IMHO, plus we get an awesome video - it's just got a certain vibe... Outstanding!
Well that was dope! Welcome back to Dallas Pups.
Wow ! This is so much fun to see those guys having so much fun !!! Great music ! Wow!!!
This song is too good
Sound quality reaching levels unknown to humanity prior to Snarky Puppy
Saratoga Jazz Festival. I'm counting the days.
what a banger! One of the best tunes by the Puppies in the last years for me
I love a good fast song that still manages to be laid back and chill
These guys are both amazingly gifted and coordinated. like one brilliant musical mind inhabiting multiple bodies simultaneously.
My favorite is Cliroy. That song IS DEFINITELY A VIBE 🙂
NANANANANA QUÉ TEMAZO PAAAAAAAA PARARARARA PARAAAAAAAAAAAA PIRIRIRI PIRIRIIIIIIII
This is amazing, makes me want to live each day even more. Thank you Snarky Puppy for bringing such good feeling!
It's a fine line between interesting and smooth jazz. :(
Glorious groove! Love it! Nice to know our young folks in this band are aware of the traditional models for a winning sound. Rockin!!!
Great song, Bobs solo is killing it, amazing tone on the tenor, good job everyone, you guys always look like your having so much fun, behind all the hard work, thank you for all the great music, Happy Holidays to you all and thanks for the Pineapple gift!
Ridiculous... perfect music!
Those Trumpets.
Always nice to hear these guys in action.
Fantastic. Love everything about these guys. Can never get enough of them. Sadly I reside in Australia and don’t think I’ll ever get to see them live. 😢
I would love to see how they set all this up. The running of all the mic and headphone lines, this looks to be a monster of a gig. Then be fortunate enough to sit in hear this live.
No disrespect to the other Snarky drummers, but one can‘ne help but love Larnell Lewis, both as a person and as a musician.
So energizing to hear and watch these folks perform! I’m starting to get a familiar feeling, though - I recognize it from back in the day when a new Michael Brecker side would be released. Each one would be better than the last incredible release! After a while you’d take this “impossible” trajectory for granted. Now I listen back in disbelief that I could ever take any of it for granted! Having these Snarky Puppy vids available at my fingertips is like having the Grand Canyon out my front door.
excited for this and the rest of the songs! thank you snarky puppy
Ayyyyye, that ending 😂
I’ve seen the guys on both coasts and three stops in between. There still fabulous!
Love this group... Kind of reminds me of another ensemble group, Down To The Bone.
yes welcome back Lads
so timely I personally needed this
bless up
Snarky Puppy
LOVE these live recordings
I remember being in community college nearly 10 years ago, my best friend demanding I sit down with him and watch the entire performance/recording of We Like It Here - was hooked immediately. Thanks for all your music and collabs - so happy I got to see ya'll when you visited my University and played at our Art's Center about 5 years ago!
Yep, I've used We Like It Hear as the SP gateway drug more than once. Now will have include a few off Empire.
those zildjians man!!!!!!
Such smooth Casiopea / Nite Flyte vibes on this one. So good.
Saw them play this opening for steely dan in houston blew me away then and still does. What a great song!
