I am convinced that corporations are intentionally making awful decisions like this on purpose, so they can test the waters to see how bad the pushback is and walk back their decisions based off of that. If the pushback isn't severe, they stick with it, and if the pushback is significant they know what the "limit" is.

they do something that is obviously outrageous so then they can push it down a little bit after an expected outrage and push from people. However the adjustment afterwards still ends up on a level that would have been unacceptable in the first place alone. This way however people feel like they won and pushed the corporation back.

It was no mistake on wording. They meant what they said. Anything a company puts out to the public is proofread and scrutinized by many people to ensure all info is correct. Don’t let them pretend they just chose their words poorly.

But the sad truth is, those content creators whose voice and opinion really matter do not really care. They are not in any real danger and they can be bought/appeased with enough incentives. And even if they choose to leave, there's always a place for them elsewhere.

It's like the evil corporate version of "shoot for the moon and land in the stars".. they started with the worst possible change and then get people to settle for one that still sucks but isn't that bad, wake up people, no change is needed or asked for.

Or, to limit test what people would tolerate, taking their responses to read the room on what they would find acceptable.

They overshot intentionally, knew there was going to be backlash, then canceled most of the changes while still sneaking in some stuff in the ToS like no simulcasting on non-twitch like websites. Now they seem like the "good guys who listen" to gullible fools like you. This is a very common tactic by corporations.

"A trial balloon is a strategy used to gauge public reaction to a proposal or idea before it is officially announced or implemented. The company "floats" the idea (like a balloon) to see how the market or public will react, and uses this information to decide whether to go forward with the plan, modify it, or abandon it altogether. The analogy implies that, like a balloon, the proposal is not firmly anchored and can be easily withdrawn if the reaction is negative."
    Dear Twitch Community,
We've always been proud of the vibrant, diverse, and dynamic community we've built together here on Twitch. One of our core principles is to be a listening platform, constantly learning and evolving to serve you better.
We understand that our recent announcement about changes to ads, product placement, and partnerships has raised concerns. We hear you. We understand the potential impact these changes could have on your interaction and monetization on our platform, and we recognize the importance of your feedback.
I want to assure you that no immediate changes are being made. The proposal we announced was just that, a proposal. We're not here to dictate but to create an environment that is supportive of our streamers and in line with evolving digital advertising standards.
We are, above all, committed to a constructive dialogue with our user base. We appreciate the honest feedback we've received over the past few days, and we take your concerns very seriously. Rest assured, any major changes will involve thorough discussions with our creators and viewers beforehand.
Our commitment is to make Twitch a platform where everyone can succeed. We deeply value the trust you've placed in us, and we are dedicated to maintaining it. Together, we will continue shaping the future of streaming on Twitch.
Thank you for your passion and your feedback.
    Best,
    [CEO's Name]

I think they need to take a step back and see who suggested these changes, who approved them, and who ultimately pushed for them to go live. They need to consider that there are people in high positions in the company that are so woefully out of touch that ALL of the top creators threatened to leave when these suggested changes were published. I don't think the people who suggested those changes should be at the company. That mindset is just so misaligned with the community's.

Notice how he never once said anything about twitch expecting this outrage or thinking it could have been a possibility. If a company survives by its creators, wouldnt you want to view the decisions on their side before making a decision? Thats right ladies & gentlemen, they didnt even consider that in the first place. Twitch knew what they were doing. They dropped this to see the reaction, and if the reaction wasnt overblown like it was the rules would still be in place. The only good part about this is the admittance that it was a shit idea. THIS DOES NOT CHANGE THEIR INCENTIVE.
