Had a fun experience with Mike Glover. I was grilling him on the gram about his whole ‘dry fire is stupid’ thing. He literally told me he never said that, then told me I didn’t know the full story. I sent him a screen record of the episode (I think they took down) and he blocked me on everything. Dude served his country but man can’t stand up for his own shit
I took one of Glover’s classes. Far and away the worst class I’ve ever been to. Mike basically recited all the lines from his RUclips vids and had the class do a handful of drills. At no point did he offer individual criticism to any of the students. I even watched a student muzzle his hand and Mike didn’t say s**t. Also the only class I’ve been to that started and ended 9-2 sharp. It was like it was a chore and the dude couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there.
There’s a reason why he’s losing solid people in his company (FCS), the bigger his company became, the more of a marketing puppet he became and just abandoned some of the solid stuff he had people hired for. Kevin (the irish guy) leaving is probably the eye opener for Mike’s fanbase. They’ve had their blinders on for way too long.
One day I’m hopeful I’ll be able to take a class with you. Have been watching your videos and the information you put out is not only practical it is easy to follow. I’m concerned with what is happening with USPSA many mistakes seem to be happening and needs reeled in.
I gave up on trying to tell people to stop drinking the military veteran gun tuber cool aid selling dogs!t training. I point them towards Ben and a couple other guys and they don’t want it they want the videography and range theatrics.
Oh 100% agreed and I do the exact same. First getting into shooting and trying to find content on the internet led me and many others to the usual “tactical” guys trying to make some slick content with no actual substance. Once I found Ben and Matt it was so refreshing and more importantly beneficial to learning how to practice to increase my skills, I felt like I was going nowhere for a year and once I started watching and practicing this good content I started seeing steady, measurable growth
I’ve never seen this live , this adds more pieces to a larger scale , it was said once on a podcast with Evan hafer and Andy stumpf, Evan stated he’s known Mike for 10 years , he would know if Mike wasn’t saying who he was saying he was . I think that’s a genuine statement if he took mike glovers words of mouth seriously. Definitely life experiences for me to reflect on.
After watching (too) many glover vids, came away with "is there anything this guy hasnt done" ??? And, he sometimes "forgets" what he's said publicly and outright contradicts himself ...
I recently got into competitive pistol shooting and coming from the tactile side of it. I look back at these tactile guys and most of them can’t shoot for shit. I’m diss appointed I didn’t notice this sooner. But honestly they don’t show most if not all of it.
Anyone else train with John McPhee? At all? I did. Id say as far as learning the basics and building a foundation, theres no better. He gets a lot of flack for his "trigger jerk is a myth" and "tactical turtle stance has benefits". Unlike others , he explains and shows why he came to these conclusions. Gotta say i lesrned a bunch in a short period of time and retained it. He took his time with all the student's personally wotking with each of us. Some folks might not like him but hes a damn fine coach.
What’s your thoughts on Frank Proctor? He’s been doing the Practical Shooting style training for a good bit & other than just saying he was a green beret I’ve never heard him tell stories about his service.
@AJohnSmith we invaded Iraq with m16 A2's Marines. Definitely not a cqb weapon. But once ied shit started popping off, we were using the m4 with it's 15.5 inch or less barrel. But u are correct, no Marines were clearing shit with a 20 inch rifle lol.

I was a grunt in the marine corps, 70% disabled, My father was a green beret for over 20 years, my uncle is Colonel John Ives former NAS commander of Ft Meade, and he acted like I was a piece of shit just because I called him out for how his lack of engagement with the same people paying his bills. My whole life I've only seen about 90 seconds of Glover speaking, and was immediately turned off, he was boasting about some very dynamic gunfight and describing this long winded gunfight in detail, and talking about killing people, not in a funny Clint Smith way, it came off like he was boasting, very offputting, I figured he was either nuts or lying or both.
I know you all were trolling in between but if you as the viewer stick with this you will for a fact get good information out of this. I know exactly what I need to do for training to get better.

It’s true. I spent a long time in the marines, and although I’m nasty with the rifle, I’m learning the pistol from a civilian.
