    Penatrol is mostly a solvent with a little linseed oil in it, so basically thinned linseed oil. I use it. As Rustn' Away says, it's like doing a budget clear coat.

    In my opinion, if you are going to use this product, I would wash your vehicle with soap and water, then take some 3M or similar Scotchbrite pad with wax and grease remover Lightly go over the entire truck making sure to follow up with a clean rag after each panel is dry. Then apply this product.

      It holds up great. If the truck sits outside, I’d reapply every 2-3 months. If the truck is inside, 6 months is good. Also a big factor is weather/rain. While this does “absorb” in to the paint, a lot of rain/weather can break it down (same with Linseed and other stuff too).

    I tried this instead of boiled linseed oil. It works but…
    It goes on like an oil, kinda sticky but not too bad. What I didn’t expect was it dried like some sort of clear coat. Mineral spirits wouldn’t even take it off.
    I was looking for more of a matt finish be ended up with gloss. If you looking for a matt finish you might want to try boiled linseed oil mixed with paint thinner. This “Flood” will make old dull paint shine new. Another possible advantage: I don’t think this will cause issues with a future paint job like linseed oil will. This stuff is more like paint than oil but consult an expert if that’s a concern.
    One other thing, my truck has the original aluminum grill that I’ve tried and tried to buff to a high gloss shine with no luck but this stuff did the trick! It glowing now. Almost like chrome.

    Where did you say what product you are using??? Why wouldn't you tell us before you started using it?

      He says at the end, but I agree. No need to “bury the lead”. The product is Penetrol made by Flood. The can says Flood Penetrol. You can find it at Lowe’s and likely other hardware stores.

    It’s only $10 and future paint job will not be a issue, u have to sand and prep car b4 painting, also who wants to run a car with patina thru a car wash. 😂

    I don't recommend this stuff, I've been using it on my car because it's affordable, but everytime it rains or is too cold outside, car looks like it has dry soap all over.
    I don't recommend this!!!

    I hate to see old trucks with these new stupid looking rims. I would throw them off the nearest bridge if I owned them.

    What if I want to clear after your application? Is it hard to remove the oil ?

    • @RustnAway
      @RustnAway  2 года назад +1

      No, but if you’re going to clear it, you probably wouldn’t be doing this. This is like doing a budget clear.
