    *You can really sense the POWER here! - **35:17* That last 7 minutes is some of the most soothing stuff I've ever watched. Kind of dozed off watching it. Very ASMR - Thanks

    And Also I like The Close up at The 3751's 80 inched drivers. Kinda Remind me of The Opening to Shining time station with Union Pacific 844.

    Not one, but two patched ATSF units passing 3751... had the steam train not been there, those guys would've been the catch of the day for any railfan.

    If we ever get hit by another Carrington Event, it’s good to see that some of our electricity independent engines are back in working order! But will we still have access to fuel oil or coal then???

    Can you tell me what your top speed was on this run! It was an AWESOME run! Man, to be on a locomotive like that would be the dream of a lifetime!

    • @TheEventRecorder
      @TheEventRecorder  3 года назад +9

      The track speed on this run was 50 m.p.h. We may have reached that for a short time, signals, Form B's, slow orders and passenger traffic made it congested most of the time. @ 29:25 The Engineer holds his hand up with 4 fingers inquiring if the speed is 40 m.p.h. Our crew member holds his hand up replying with 5 fingers indicating 50 m.p.h. Due to the noise, hand signs sometimes is a better way to communicate. Thanks for your comments.

    Awesome video! I'm going to sub as soon as I'm done with this comment! Lol
    Anyways, when a steam loco is behind a diesel loco, is it hard to sync speeds with the 2? Or is there an automatic system? I've been wondering about this for a long time! Lol.

    • @TheEventRecorder

      The diesel is in control of everything, the 3751 in this configuration is basically like a maned helper.

    why isnt anyone on the ground wearing proper ppe. 1 visi vest 2 hard hat 3 only on person is wearing gloves.

    • @TheEventRecorder
      @TheEventRecorder  6 лет назад +5

      At that time in 2008, vests were not required for engineers on the ground (Which everyone was as volunteers in this event), and to this day, hard hats are not required either.

      @@centralnorthcarolinatrucks7472 I've posted this question above, however, can you tell me if it's hard to sync speed with the 2 locos with one being steam and one being diesel electric. Or does the steam push the d/e? Or an automated system? Lol, I'm really into trains but this is something I have no clue about.

    • @centralnorthcarolinatrucks7472
      @centralnorthcarolinatrucks7472 3 года назад +1

      @@knowledgeispowermediaprodu7094 that’s ok, the diesel is used to push the steam engine. Along with when it comes down grades it is also used for dynamic breaking coming down hills. Along with having any passenger equipment, it can be used for electricity into the cars. So a small bit of everything haha
