Got here after listening to "Heroes are Hard to Find" from a playlist of Christine McVie songs (CH follows it on a album so HAD to hear it). Christine died today, so joins Bob and Danny. Forgot about this live version of "Coming Home". Is incredible.. as are fitting lyrics. We are the hungry ones On a campground that's been and gone Where are all the faces that I knew? All the heroes in the bright burning truth Makes you feel real, real good in your bones When the hunger stops, and the truth is known My life, my light is coming home Yeah, coming home Rest in Peace Bob and Christine.. your music will always be here.
This is literally unbelievable! I did a triple take! I cannot believe someone has this with this footage. Not only most captivating FM song but IMO structurally one of the most beautiful songs written. Complex and layered like only Welch could masterfully do. PRICELESS! Lets get some views here peeps!
My rant is nearly complete! This is not only the only manifestation of this song live but this was the only FM song ever recorded by them in this vein...PERIOD! Whew...I think thats all ive got
There's a 1972 Woman of a Thousand Years live video of them on youtube - it doesn't match the music exactly, but good to see. Bob and Danny are together. Never knew Danny sang that (though knew it wasn't Christine.. weird that I never gave it thought after listening to it so many times.. always had to play the whole album through/both sides).
Yes, Great song, but the video is not matching. Some of this footage is from Green Manalishi., same concert, also on RUclips. I'm still waiting for somebody to post this whole concert from the Record Plant, CA in 1974.
My favorite FM albums all feature Bob.. he contributed more than he got credit for.. the band got more popular later, but the music was kind of 'boilerplate'.
This particular track his playing reminds me a lot of Pat Methany and Larry Carlton with the beautiful melodic chord progressions. Heavenly yet Haunting at the same time.
@@Streetbob07 My favorite is Bare Trees and Heroes because it's so experimental. Really wished Danny could have stuck it out longer once Bob came onboard.
I was at the LA Record Plant in-studio performance and there wasn't any video shot - hard to miss any cameras - so I don't know where this was taken. Hell, I didn't even have a G.D. camera! We were all sitting on the floor of the studio passing bottles of Mateus; I was essentially at Bob's feet. But B. Mitchell Reed was there, and the guy with the crazy whistle was there throughout so the audio is correct. Right at the time "Heroes Are Hard to Find" was released…maybe even that week. The audio for the whole concert is out there at least.
Oh man! What memories! I ditched school that day to go to this performance! Won the ticket on a radio call-in contest! I was right behind Christine! What an awesome day!
Kevin Barrentine Any chance you took any pictures? I would love to have something from that event. I did take one of the set lists but haven't a clue at the moment where I have it.
Kevin Barrentine Sure, I just found it stashed away in the sleeve of my copy of Heroes Are Hard to Find. It's not much to look at it but it is the real deal. How to get the pic of it to you? I trust you are aware the entire show is available at Wolfgang's Vault. As I commented there, the radio show sequence is slightly different than the set list (the show was edited; the recording has the retake of one of the songs, which I remember happening).
"The REAL Fleetwood Mac" per the announcer because some of the members left due to administrative issues (and personality clashes), causing the promoter to put in other musicians to perform. Thus, mid-way into this concert in 1974, there was a change in composition and it wasn't the "real" Fleetwood Mac, upsetting to fans as you might imagine.

this is the best Fleetwood Mac ever ,, RIP BOB
I'd go cut off a 100 thumbs for thumbs up if I could...make that 1000!

Sick bassline. Mr. McVie, you are the consummate professional.
Lucky enough to to win tickets to this concert from KMET. Wow, 50 years ago!

same thing was done with their live recording of Angel. one moment mick Fleetwood is playing his drums with sticks the next moment his bare hands .
Bob was a real melodic jazzy guitarist

Sorry, no. I was just stoked to be there! Were you the one that got the set list that was on Christine's piano?
I would love to get a scanned copy of that setlist!

Terrible performance, they must have been smashed
I disagree... it's intense. "Heroes" was the last album with the older (Future Games), non-commercial style.
Very weak vocals by Bob. Typical of him when singing live.
