Best thing you can say about Rick Allen's drumming is you just cannot tell he only has one arm when you hear him play. He is better than most drummers with two arms.
There was some issue on whether or not Allen was actually playing drums or pushing buttons on a kit as the Zidjian kit was almost all electronic. Later, Allen switched over to a different kit that gave a more "natural" drum sound during the Adrenalize tout.
Interesting thing about Rick was that even before he lost his arm, his style of playing was a choppy, off beat style. He was never a `speed drummer` so, that actually helped him in being able to come back. He did an amazing job regardless, and I always loved his style of playing, but that definitely had an impact on him being able to really get back on the kit and play professionally without it even being noticeable.
The double kick drum is his signature thing. Was that a thing before he lost his arm? It's a great stylistic choice and works great in the DL mix, so it's a perfect fit really.
Def Leppard are one of the most endearing bands of the era. They always put on a full on top notch show & you can tell they love being on stage & seeing the fans
Oh the Tales these guys could tell during this time in History, I saw them when Rick had both arms and then later after he lost one and the way he set his drum kit up you couldn't tell the difference, love this time 🤘
My daughter, who 14 or 15 at the time, saw Def Leppard, Foreigner and Cheap Trick back in '03 or '04. When Def Leppard took the stage she sent me a text "Dude, the drummer only has one arm. I want to drum with one arm". Kids say the damndest things.
4th album!! And according to Leppard made the album by the ladies from Florida in “male adult locations” as it has a great bpm!! Only going on interviews I have seen by them!
Def Leppard was my favorite band and still is for the rock genre, I saw them in concert when they came to ATL. What most people don't realize about Rick Allen is when he was in the hospital after having his arm amputated, when the band came in to see him he was practicing playing the drums with his feet also......he told them......"Well, I lost me left arm, but I can play with me feet." So he is not only playing with his right arm but both feet as well. AWESOME job he does too!!!!
I love all of your def leppard reactions. You guys have such enthusiasm and appreciation for this music that existed probably when you were still toddlers. This gives me a whole new appreciation of the new generation! BTW, I am 61 and have been a fan since 1981
Rick Allen never wore shoes when because for his missing left arm he had peddles so he could use them instead of a left arm each part of drums in some videos you can see him slamming his feet down on the peddles that’s how he the loud noise
This was from their hysteria album, 4th if memory serves, rick wrapped his sportscar into a tree and the seatbelt took his arm off. Check out albums pyromania and high n dry, they are less poppy and way more raw rock. hysteria was on their in the round tour, named as they had the stage in the center of their arena gigs. fantastic band!
not only did they wait for the drummer but they done a intervention on Steve Clarke and told him to go to rehab for 6 nonths for his drinking problem and his job would be still his but sadly he died at age 30 his the one with the long blonde hair. And youre my favorite reactors so can ya play Greg the stop sign by TISM live at Homebake please, Rob from Australia.
I was in my mid 20's and trust me....if you got tickets to their concert, you could ask a gal you had been wanting to ask out, and show her the tickets...that you had stood in line for two days to get....and you were "The Man!". After the concert was over...that gal "poured some sugar" on you for sure!! Dang...that was a long time ago!!
Rick Allen is known as the Thunder God. Amazing band who put friendship & loyalty before money. You can see how much fun they are having together. They got more famous after his accident & I am so glad.
Wow Think this is the best reaction I've seen to Def Leppard , you need to watch them live at don valley stadium. seen them live twice now and they're far better live than the recorded stuff. love you both from England
I told you guys I loved you you give this old soldier something to smile about but I do wish you two where with me at there concert when they first came out
Billings Montana. '88 5 of us drove 5 hours. The fans there in the open air arena represented 4 States MT, ND, SD, WY, 2 countries US and CA. We were in the highest level bleachers, but it did not matter, the stage was in the round , rotated, we never sat down and never stopped screaming all the songs the entire night. It was a quiet ride home. Pax et Bonum
This was my first concert I ever went to, I was 14 (oh my goodness, I'm old lol) This song is so catchy and radio-ready, but is still heavy and retains integrity.
Saw the tour when Rick Allen"the thunder God" returned,it was in the round in Pullman Washington, Rocked so hard I could barely hear for hours after!!!!
Many will have you believe the drummer lost his arm in a car accident, but that's simply not true.. He smacked so much ass while on tour in 1986 that his arm fell off.
I was actually at this 2-night concert in Denver Colorado...blew my mind man..so much fun!. I was17 by the way. Also hello from Cody Wyoming you guys are awesome keep it up
Def Leppard got the idea of doing this 'In The Round' show after seeing Frank Sinatra do it. Now so many bands do it. Metallica added their own innovation to the format on the 'Black Album' tour, having a select number of fans in an little enclosure in the middle of the stage with them. They called it the 'Snake Pit'.
Says a lot about the band and it's members, they were a unit and the unit carries on and leaves no one behind. If they were going to make it they were going to make it together, real respect for them. That said..what an large arena band. I saw them and then AC/DC within the same week, to this day I swear my ears have never recovered. Def Leppard and AC/DC you swear are in more movies then a lot of Hollywood actors!!!! This is the song I played for my neighbors whether they wanted to hear it or not(LOL)!!!!
Here Guys, with a Metal Musicians & Singer.. we can find one of the Best Metal Reactions Channel..... respect for your energy here, everytime !!! Keep safe Wolf Hunters & see soon Thx a lots for all
It is available on DVD as part of the Hysteria Deluxe Edition that was released in 2017. Oh, and I was there that night, February 13, 1988. Great show.
The story goes is that the Hysteria album was almost finished when Joe Elliot was playing around with an acoustic and only had the chorus to this song. Mutt Lange turned around and said "what's that?", Joe explained it was something he was working on. Mutt then said it had to go on the album, Joe said that the other band members would kill him, Mutt said I don't care. It apparently took another 12 weeks to write and record and the rest is history.
Dont laugh but watch Def Leppard gig with Taylor Swift and her band. It is an awesome fusion of rock and country. Taylors mum was a Leppard fanatic and she was brought up on their music - she was so chuffed to be playing alongside them!
Alter Bridge; Burn it Down, Brand New Start, Pay no Mind..These are three hard hitting songs that are hardly played but should be. I love the vocals in the first two. you do know that guitarist Mark Tremonti is from the Christian band "Creed' thus the lyrics in many songs have that cryptic end of days feel. Rock On my Brother n Sister.
You guys should listen to die hard the hunter live 88 in the round best steve clarl solo n a small fact the song idea came from the movie Rambo per Joe Elliot from the def leppard..R.I.P. STEVE CLARK WHITELIGHTING
Good song but MTV KILLED IT ! Playing it every 15 minutes was a bit much.... OUCH my ears 😲 It's been 15 - 20 years I can take one more view at this kiddie classic
I think they play better live today(Guitar sounds much better though Rick has taken to supplement songs with digital drumming assistance), but can’t fault their look, stage and vibe under that stage in 1988. There’s a third version of this video originally filmed before In The Round where they basically rip apart a house in England. When they decide to focus on crunchy screaming guitars, they can sound phenomenal. Check out their 2013 concert on RUclips, Viva! Hysteria, or find song one of side two on the CD… Good Morning Freedom. Killed it.
We just designed new merch! Check it out! teespring.com/stores/the-wolf-hunterz-merch
Love bites , Def leppard ,please!!!

Hands down a inspiration to all who are aware he has 1 arm .. I’ll bitch about a lot things again .. Rick Allen is a “ thunder god” on the drums .. 🤘

He used to be twice as good

Just when I think I couldn't love you guys anymore. More Leppard!. Awesome!.
This is not the first album. However your are correct it is the first album after Rick Allan learned how to play the drums after his car accident.
this song comes on the radio it time to turn it up to max volume oh hell yeah!
AND THATS WHY RICK ALLEN IS CALLED "THE THUNDER GOD"
Long Live The Thundergod!
4th album!!
And according to Leppard made the album by the ladies from Florida in “male adult locations” as it has a great bpm!!
Only going on interviews I have seen by them!
Every time i hear this i think of dancing on the bar at Coyote Ugly. God i mids those days
No nonsense rock and roll. No sequins, no frills...just some great music, fun, and one helluva great band!!
My teenage years, great memories, i was 15 years old in 1988 and Def Leppard was so big back then!! The Hysteria album is a monster!!
Def Leppard was my favorite band and still is for the rock genre, I saw them in concert when they came to ATL. The only band I have ever heard that sounds like a pop band that can play metal, or a metal band that can play pop.
Great chemistry.
Guns N' Roses?
A feel old, I remember this song being new!!!
This is the live version from "In the Round, In Your Face. Recorded in Denver, CO during the Hysteria Tour. This song was every where in the mid-80s.
I was there.
Rick Allen never wore shoes when because for his missing left arm he had peddles so he could use them instead of a left arm each part of drums in some videos you can see him slamming his feet down on the peddles that’s how he the loud noise

DEF LEPPARD POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME BY DEF LEPPARD IS MY FAVORITE SONG FROM DEF LEPPARD TOO
When he lost his arm, they were too worried about their friend, they probably forgot they were even in a band.
not only did they wait for the drummer but they done a intervention on Steve Clarke and told him to go to rehab for 6 nonths for his drinking problem and his job would be still his but sadly he died at age 30 his the one with the long blonde hair. First band to build circular stage so all fans in stadium can see their faces because you see them running from station to station

They had SO many women under the stage doing pretty much anything. They lived the life of a king.
