Secondly, select Low Range, Off road height and Sand Mode "ON" (on the TR) and then TURN OFF DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). If DSC is NOT turned off you will bog in sand as quick as look at it. I can't fathom why people have so much trouble in these videos. I take my Prado to Fraser all the time, and I've never had to break out the recovery tracks (touch wood).
That's why we avoid the place during holidays, madhouse. The lack of rain / moisture in the sand is also a large factor as well the amount of traffic. There were quite capable rigs having problems in that vid.
I really can't understand why people insist in taking modern Land Rovers off roading... Long gone are the days when LR made the best 4x4s on the planet. Today, just are just 4wd luxury barges.
Depends on the driver - there was a LR Evoke that went up 10 pound hill in Yeagerup in WA - the thing literally flew up faster than anything else that weekend. His low profile tyres didn't last though.
Holiday season on my local beach is the same as this, I don't even bother going there until the holidays are finished. Either clueless people getting buried or dickheads driving flat out giving the park a reason to put a gate up.
Visibly solid sidewalls equals too much pressure in that type of sand. Lowering pressure to the average IQ there of about 10 will be fine with suitable momentum. That said I am used to my triple locked as factory standard 80.
Great to see they are following the golden rules for drama ridden 4wding. Rule 1, never let air or enough air out of the tyres. Rule 2, never use a winch to recover a vehicle.
I’m fairly new to the 4wd scene and am surprised winches don’t come out more often. I’ve used mine once to recover someone and it was the most relaxed stress free recovery so far. And using a remote standing to the side with no stress loading it was easily the safest too.
Please see the tyres. Most of them already lower the tyres. There's nothing wrong to lower the tyres further down when bogged. It makes no sense to drive with 8 or 10 psi all the way from entry. As once tyre is ripped off from the rim. No one can help ya.
Three things: Traction, Momentum and Ground Clearance. The RR has none and even less chance of the third with the Cruiser digging trenches in front of it.
not in all circumstances, Iv driven up soft sand like cape flattry dunes with less than 10psi and still doesnt make a difference. sand that soft you cant do shit haha
@@kylelove3914 sand has an angle of repose and can only sustain a certain height over a specific width. So "normal" wheel tracks can only be a set or fixed depth (based on the angle of repose). Within obvious angles of inclination, 10 psi will get you ANYWHERE on ANY soft sand. The sand cannot be "too" soft, there is a limit! Any sand anywhere can be traversed carefully at 10psi. The only potential limitation is the surrounding incline. Momentum is your friend on inclines 👍
I have been saying this for a while that they need to be dragged back to where they started from and told to head back down the beach. Do not pull them through as they merely have to be pulled all the way back anyway.
@Bob Sacamano I've been going to the island since 1971. Around 1980 I bought a HJ47 Troopcarrier. The old 2H diesel was shall we say a strong motor but terribly underpowered. I would let my tyres down to 15 pount or less and it would float over the top of the sand on that track. Do not need power. What you do need is low tyre pressure. I would pass Range Rovers throwing rooster tails into the air and the old Troopy would puddle past them at idle. So I must respectfully disagree with you.
@Bob Sacamano What are you on about. Mate, I also have a Landrover. It's a 6x6 Perentie. Anyway, not here to bag LR, my point was that you need neither power nor speed if you have the correct tyre pressure. You might have missed the part where I said I idled through whereas the Rangerover was sending a rooster tail into the air. The RR was bogged in the middle of the track, unable to get his power to traction. Meanwhile my underpowered Troopy puddled through at a very slow and calm pace. Nothing to do with brands of vehicles, more about tyre pressure. So read it again, tyre pressure, tyre pressure, tyre pressure. Peole need to take a test before they hit the sand at Inskip Point and if they cannot understand the need to lower their tyre pressure to suit the sand conditions then they need to turn around and go back to the bitumen. Doesn't matter what brand of vehicle or how much speed or power they have. If they cannot get the fundamentals correct then they have no business being tugged through Nkarla Rocks. Best they be towed backwards and sent on their way. They will only cause problems coming back from Sandy Cape for others to have to deal with.
jordan falcioni they have these 100k plus SUV’s and have no idea of what tyre pressures they should be running. A short video should be shown before you can buy your tickets for the barge.
Aren't HT tyres best suited for sand driving? I admit low profile on any terrain tyre is useless offroad- but if you had HT with 75 profile, on low pressures they would ruin muddies even AT's
O M G This hurts to watch. I've never been bogged there in 20 years of visits to Fraser. My first trip through there was in an 1800 Subaru wagon on 13" wheels.... Any car with a separate chassis can go straight through with momentum and low tyre pressures.

That Range Rover needs a support vehicle, otherwise it's never getting off Fraser! Wonder how many times it got bogged that day?! 🤦🏼♂️
#notbuiltfor4x4 #22inchrims #permanentlybogged
What's a solid front axle these days??? Am I right haha
Old army reco jeeps have 28" wheels and 3" tyres they sat on the sand no worries
I have an 03 expedition. Has 4 high and 4 low. Falken wildpeak at3w tires. Drove all the time on the beach in NY. Was some deep sand. Would air down to 15psi. Never got stuck. There must be some special sand down under. I’d probably roll up thinking no issue and get stuck too haha
This is why I won't ever go here during Christmas holidays.
That soft sand of Fraser.il be there next year in my tj jeep 4 inch lift 35x12.5 cant wait
I hired a Jimmy a few month ago on Fraser island, it drives smoothly, because it's light.
Welcome to sana😄😄😄 the forbidden land, from Zambezi region.
Driving there is your own risk 😁😁😁😁
Watching Aussie people power from a very cold finland.
The cause of instillation is the filling of the tire with air, so the tire air pressure should be reduced to 15 gauge
فجروا المكينه والكفرات مليانه 🤭
You mean psi
That poor range rover haha! You can almost feel the sand in the floor mats.
I can't fathom why people have so much trouble in these videos. I take my Prado to Fraser all the time, and I've never had to break out the recovery tracks (touch wood).
No idea about right gear selection for the terrain
The doiche with the overlanding stickers was the best. Why the ruck would you brake and slow down in the middle of a soft sand patch?
The guy in the back of the Ute 14:28 he’s the only one that knows what he’s doing 🤣
Holiday season on my local beach is the same as this, I don't even bother going there until the holidays are finished.
Either clueless people getting buried or dickheads driving flat out giving the park a reason to put a gate up.
Faaaark me, bugger the theme parks, I’m takin the kids ere’. This is entertaining and the kids can set up a lemonade stand. Everyone is happy
Sneaky zoom in @ 27:56 😂
LewyTheFlyS13 haha cheers. I skipped straight to it.
Nearly forgot what they were supposed to be filming
that's proper creep spec...
Nice 🤣
More rolls than a bakery
Damn this is awesome to watch kicking back and watching some real power
That is such a weird recovery... And changing gear in the middle of it looses all his momentum... Weird. And it looks like they didn't air down at all
That sand looks deep and boggy! Subscribed!
13:20 love seeing idiots pulling on a snatch strap like that actually makes a difference
Yeah that one guy is really digging in thinking he is making a difference.
That is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen in a recovery situation.
How to get run over 101
Tim I think pushing works but you need atleast 5 people, seen a group of people literally pick a vehicle up out of the sand
I thought exactly the same thing PMSL just gtf out of the way haha
What I love is that Aussies help each other
You kinda have no choice here nobody can get through if someone's bogged
It hurts my head to watch how clueless some people are with driving on sand!!
Nice work putting the snatch strap on the tow ball well done
Visibly solid sidewalls equals too much pressure in that type of sand. Lowering pressure to the average IQ there of about 10 will be fine with suitable momentum. That said I am used to my triple locked as factory standard 80.
This has nearly put me off buying a 4x4. drinking beer in the pool in Bali and 8 dollar massage seems a lot less stressful.
Looks like pushing them is better than towing. AHHHHH just like being there. Compliments of the season from NZ.
@Brian Boys. Did you see that too Brian? Enough of those big boys there to simply push them out. Bob. NZ.
22:53 Did he seriously try and upshift coming up that hill?
am i the only one that feels like yelling at them to let your tyres down
Great to see they are following the golden rules for drama ridden 4wding.
I will go camp there just to watch this fun.
The lad pulling @13:15 hahaha Good work son, you're doing a bang up job!
27:56 excellent work.
Looked 😋 yummy
This vid is so entertaining. Holy crap!
i have never seen a jeep wrangler get stuck here or inskip , they must be good vehicles, yes i have one.

They already do sell like hot cakes in the US
15:28 White patrol guy : I'll keep reving so people think I know what I'm doing...and it gives the wife some exercise too...
So many experts, not one puts a damper on.....
Clearly speed and power wins the day in soft sand - Clarkson would do well here!
Amateur hour on Fraser, all letting tires down after bogged.
Please see the tyres. Most of them already lower the tyres. There's nothing wrong to lower the tyres further down when bogged. It makes no sense to drive with 8 or 10 psi all the way from entry. As once tyre is ripped off from the rim. No one can help ya.
@@ysgoodna they still look way to high. But everyone is entitled to their appinion.
@@bigals.ktms.9937 opinion*
@@ridef0rlife sorry bob down, I did it on the run, but that's was a great pick up.
The people around should also push the car
Three things: Traction, Momentum and Ground Clearance. The RR has none and even less chance of the third with the Cruiser digging trenches in front of it.
Two things on _sand_: floatation and momentum.
Fixed that for you =).
So many idiots making such a simple task so difficult! Low tyre pressure (10-12 psi) is all that's needed.
Haha just because they have a Range Rover doesn’t mean it’s not going to get stuck.
not in all circumstances, Iv driven up soft sand like cape flattry dunes with less than 10psi and still doesnt make a difference. sand that soft you cant do shit haha
And no gear change!
risk going off rim
@@kylelove3914 sand has an angle of repose and can only sustain a certain height over a specific width. So "normal" wheel tracks can only be a set or fixed depth (based on the angle of repose).
Within obvious angles of inclination, 10 psi will get you ANYWHERE on ANY soft sand.
The sand cannot be "too" soft, there is a limit! Any sand anywhere can be traversed carefully at 10psi. The only potential limitation is the surrounding incline. Momentum is your friend on inclines 👍
Everyone Gangsta until they hit the beach ramp.
How the hell did that Rover manage to make it that far. . . and it's missing half it's rear bumper 😅
That's the removed tow bar cover.
I love to see those fancy cars going on the beach with 20 inch wheels and getting bogged lol
Some undiagnosed Queenslanders there. Definitely on the spectrum.
thats why when i lived in hervey bay back in the early 90s
i rode dirt bikes to fraser island never got stuck and got where i was going twice as fast
Exhaust over lockers 😂
lol! The best part is that guy hitting the brakes. The guys with the trailers is so cool.
Nice to see a decent video for once, whoever was on the camera, well done! Most of the others bogged, send them home!.
I don’t think the low profile tyres on the Range Rover are doing him any favours.
An they didn't look they were AT's either just normal road tires
They should have people checking vehicles before they go on the barges, if they don't atleast have AT tyres then they shouldn't be allowed on Fraser
jordan falcioni they have these 100k plus SUV’s and have no idea of what tyre pressures they should be running. A short video should be shown before you can buy your tickets for the barge.
Aren't HT tyres best suited for sand driving? I admit low profile on any terrain tyre is useless offroad- but if you had HT with 75 profile, on low pressures they would ruin muddies even AT's
Lyrics Only yes I think so. I’d love to try my new Subaru Outback there. It has quite high profile large diameter tyres.

This hurts to watch. I've never been bogged there in 20 years of visits to Fraser. My first trip through there was in an 1800 Subaru wagon on 13" wheels....
Any car with a separate chassis can go straight through with momentum and low tyre pressures.
