I think they want us to put our money into something not real and taken out of circulation so there is less money in circulation so they can keep printing more money and do less damage.
In Australia we've always done this trick a little. We have different types of limited edition coins always coming out that people can collect (remove from circulation) and people will actually pay like $10 for a fancy $1 coin or even as low as 20c coin.
Best current example is you can buy a $1 coin from Australia post for $4 and then take it home and hoard it hoping it'll be worth something one day.
