I have been watching the old Bassmaster Classics from the 1980s. That real. Bass fishing. Young guns don't know what they are missing. Old hand written score board, good times back then.

Randy, most of us who started bass fishing 40+ years ago agree with you. We learned all of those skills, techniques, time of year, temperature, water clarity, etc., etc, etc, from thousands of hours on the water. We can't stop technology from advancing the sport of bass fishing.
The tournament organizations will have to determine the technology that can be used in competition. It's time for us to stop talking about it and let it run its course. Hopefully, the right decisions will be made soon.

The sport is already ruined. The fact is that the popularity of FFS is growing and you already can't compete in tournaments without it. The technology continues to progress. Bottom line is that if you choose to resist it, you will be nothing more than a recreational angler. I gave up on my tournament angler dreams about a year ago because I refuse to give in to this garbage. Now I just tie on a big swimbait and go trophy hunting. I'm sickened by the amount of people on youtube making bass fishing videos that can barely even cast properly. But they have their fancy electronics and they're catching fish and making money doing it. It's sad.

The next thing will be underwater drone lures - not connected by wire( fishing line) - but operated by remote controller like Playstation using wireless Blutooth- The lure will send out a sonar signal that will alert the lure if there is a fish nearby- the lure will move towards the fish and generate action that will piss the Bass off enough that he will grab it- the Control box on your boat will Ping and show
FishOn! - then just retrieve lure back towards the boat and grab it with your net-

The Devision of Marine Fisheries or local DNR will likely step in eventually. They could say “Dumb down the electronics within the bass fishing rule book and create competition standards across the board for all tourneys, or drop the limit to 2-fish per day. If the creel limit was dropped to two fish per day then the bass orgs might enforce real competitive bass rules again.
I fish the ocean, however I see everyone’s point.

After DE movies changed entirely and a good actor creating a mind blowing character is a thing of the past. Why choose a side? It spreads the field out and takes some of the pressure off the shallow bass. Trying to live in the past has never really been beneficial throughout the history of mankind. I prefer fishing without it because I love shallow cranking and skipping docks but I have used it to win tournaments. Time on the water is what really seperates the field. Unless ofcourse we're talking about smaller stuff where people buy and trade inflation.

Was it cheating Randy when you used a flasher, a fish finder, a graph mapper or a thermometer, all to know where the bass were hanging out? Was it cheating to develop techniques that elicited bites or develop baits that mimic livebait to trigger more bites? What about lines that were made so bass couldn't see them, or stretched less to have a better chance of actually boating one such as braided lines?
Just because you can see them doesn't mean you can catch them, does it?
You sound like the people that complained about cars replacing the horse, electric lights replacing gas lamps etc, etc.
Instead of complaining and moaning, why not teach us how to actually use ffs so those that want to enter the profession have a better understanding of its usage, so they too can one day hawk the electronics wares that helped you put fish in your boat and make a living as you did? Honestly if you did that you'd serve your viewers 1000% better than you do complaining about the technology that has passed you by and won't be going anywhere soon.
The weekend warriors dont want to see millions of cast just to see a1-3lber. They can do that all day long themselves on any day on any body of water they fish.
Remember the old adage, the customer is always right and if you continue to bemoan the usage of modern electronics, you'll find yourself out of business like the horse and gas lights.
