Nothing beats entering the ride building on a hot day and be blasted by ice cold a/c and the fresh scent pine. Having ET say your name back in 2001 was such an awesome idea.
For real! It’s so great.
I went on this in 2017 in our Florida trip and it was a wonderful thing. Wait, they actually say the name you pick in the ride? I didn't notice that.

Sucks that they replaced it here in Hollywood, CA 😥

this is definitely the best ride at universal studios orlando. the nostalgia factor is off the wall in this insane ride. i love it to death and want a room spray of the smell.

I remember one time when we went I said to my mom, "Mom, I absolutely LOVE the smell of the E.T. ride!" and she goes, "Really? It reminds me of pee." O_O thanks for that mom lol.

Nothing compares to the smell of this ride. It invokes so many warm feelings for me. If they even think about removing this, I will riot.

The problem with Universal is that they shut down so many of their old rides. While it's okay to shut down some old rides for new ones, they also need to keep some of the old ones because they are classics. I hope Universal Studios Orlando keeps this ride.

He owns the rights. He told them that he’ll pull Jurassic Park from Universal if they remove E.T. 😅 I’m grateful for it!
@@ThemeParkGroupie That man has my gratitude. I tell people that the one thing that keeps the Universal parks from being as good as the Disney parks is not keeping their more iconic attractions.
@@ThemeParkGroupie Two years ago you and I talked about this video fo yours, when I mentioned that Disney is overall better than Universal. Well.... it looks like I'm going to have to go back on that opinion. Universal has finally beat Disney in terms of quality. Universal is now much better than Disney. More chilled, more laid back, and they seem to be listening to their customers when it comes to rides and attractions they love.
I was on this ride in 1991! I remember when ET said my name, I also pedaled in front of the moon!

@@jackgarrison8497 I agree but the animatronics they have look like mannequins on a turntable. It’s really bad. Update them to actually look somewhat real as the second part is actually pretty cool and being et isn’t human like the old animatronic works just as well and fits within the directors idea but the cops are hilarious to look at.

It would be nice if they updated the ride with a preshow and fix up some of the animatronics and to be a little extra I think they should put a wind effect to make us feel like we’re going fast

We rode this back in ‘94 and when my friend Mike’s name came up, E.T.’s voice malfunctioned right after the name before his and it sounded like E.T. said, “what, f*#k Mike”, and of course it had us cracking up and had him annoyed. It’s the stupid things like that that added to the nostalgia of that ride.

Glad to see this ride is still operational. Last time I was on this ride, it broke down and we got stuck on the part where you fly over the city. That was interesting lol.

Well, you definitely save by purchasing a 2-day ticket deal. I actually just heard that “Orlando Informer” just started selling certified Universal tickets and has been having some deals. So I would check them out:

I would keep an eye out for their deals. Also, you definitely don’t want to buy tickets from those sketchy side venders in Orlando. If you buy fake tickets, Universal won’t let you in. 😩 I would definitely stick to a certified seller.

Yeah, I know. I just don’t think they want to put the money into a refurb. The ride is actually only still there begrudgingly. Lol. Steven Spielberg will pull all of Jurassic Park if they get rid of it, so they’re only doing the bare minimum. 😂

i rode this a few days ago, and i already miss it. safe to say it’s one of my faves at universal! i’m more of a thrill ride person, personally, but OMG THIS RIDE IS AMAZING!!!!
initially, i was put off about riding this ride, mainly because it wasn’t a thrill ride as i was used to riding, but… then i went on it. and my perspective changed completely (my mom convinced me lol, as she and her friend went on the ride when it first opened) and i was like to her, WAIT A MINUTE, the ride’s been around that long?!?!?! and sure enough, it’s an opening day attraction. love learning about the history of the ride as well!!!

Very cool. I grew up watching the movie as a kid and the ride was cool...for it's time. Sorta miss it. Wish your sound recording was better...missed the thump effect when you hit the top of the squad car. Hahahah

Yes. I've missed this ride. We've just do the backlot tour one, E.T., and Poseidon, and I think the Dr. Seuss roller coaster, too. If I can find the video for it. I think it was the Lorax one.

No, the original audio is still there on the ride. We had to change the music for the video due to copyright infringement. 😩
Around 4:20 ish, did they really change the music? Or was that copyright prevention? Same thing with the end right before you disembark and you see the lighted hands about to touch each other.
Yeah, unfortunately there was copyright issues, so I had to replace the audio. You aren’t crazy. 🤣

No, it's the same. We just take pride in our equipment showing the most of the dark rides as possible for our viewers. 😁

Is it true that this ride has a smell? Do they release a customized scent into the air?
Yeah, it’s true. Just the materials in the building created a smell over the years that’s super nostalgic. Supposedly Universal cleaned the place recently though and basically got ride of the smell. Now they pump out a scent that they think smells like the original, but it’s obviously different. 🥲

No, there’s no drops. It’s pretty slow moving. Very family friendly. 😁

Yep my dad says it smells of water damage which makes since there is water in the ride one time we rid it and the water fountains sprayed us I’ll try to find a time stamp 6:05 see how they stop so you don’t get wet well it didn’t for us so we got wet I was in the second seat so not that bad my dad was in the first
