It gives you more control over everything, you see everything properly, can aim abilities in x/y space, it frees up left hand from movement keys making it easier than FPS games where you have to reach million buttons affecting your movement. You can operate menus and plan the game while traveling without pausing movement. I guess the only thing I don't like about it is making the game 2D (however tons of games aren't meaningfully vertical) and less superficial detail, but for strategic pvp gameplay it's awesome.

I think wow's biggest problem is the constant resetting of everything. Basically, Blizzard has created a format for WoW were most of the content they make is irrelevant 2 years later. What this means is that Blizzard is never capable of compounding their work. Take Eve Online, they are doing the opposite. They are constantly adding to the actual world, meaning that the entire world grows with the years, adding more and more content.
Imagine Azeroth if they added more to the entire world every year instead of just giving us a new expansion island that we wont visit again 2 years later.
Essentially, Chromie for lvling shouldnt exist, but it does, because all the previous expansions are not relevant anymore.

    • @doubleseven5006
      @doubleseven5006 Год назад +8

I agree with this sentiment. Sure WoW has replayability only because that content is so old it feels fresh. If they did what FF14 does and make it so all the previous expansions expanded onto the new one it would be better. Not to mention WoW should be more focused on the players experience with the game as a whole. Majority of players don't want to be held to other players standards. The dps meters and other addons make it easy for toxicity to be a huge factor in the game. WoW needs to expand on their universe not make things irrelevant and change the player base toxicity. If you can do these 2 things I bet you WoW would retake the game industry. Instead games like Ff14 is coming in hot and fast.

    • @crazynorm
      @crazynorm Год назад +9

WoW just needs a full reset. There's just too much stuff in the game. It's overwhelming for new players, and leveling is terrible. If you don't get new players, the population collapses over time. Blizzards answer to this is to drive hype for the next new expansion... and the cycle continues.

    • @peeko_luxx2873

    • @OfficialTommyEch
      @OfficialTommyEch Год назад

@@brunch. i agree that EVE is a different game and I agree that the game needs a reset.
What is meant with Compounding is that you reuse work to highten the barrier. Blizzard has minimal of this, which means most expansions end up as new projects. The problem with this is that if your development cycle is ~2 years and you start from scratch, then you will mostly reach the same level of finished game. This explain WoW expansions as most expansions feel equal in depth.
To compound your work, take what happened between Zelda Breath of the Wild and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Tears of the Kingdom would never have reached the complexity and game density that it has without building ontop of Breath of the Wild. This is how WoW needs to do expansions; instead of making a new island every expansion, build ontop of azeroth. Add to the content. Azeroth is almost 20 years old and many places have been untouched since launch or slightly altered with Cataclysm. WoW doesnt feel like a complete world with continuous development, its a fractured world where you only use the latest 2% of the map. By doing this, Blizzard is basically throwing the rest in the trash, and the work becomes wasted.

Aside from a few NFT enjoyers, most people have been super nice in both helping me figure out what I'm doing, and also just socializing. The UI has to be my main issue. I don't understand when people complain about the graphics for WOW, but the UI needs some type of work for newer players I think. Wayyyy too easy to get lost (not always a bad thing), and when you've never done anything before, it's not very simple figuring out where you went off track. Maybe bc I'm new I don't see it, but I don't think this game needs a BR mode or anything like that at all lol. I only have one major quarrel with one of Asmon’s takes, and that is his comment regarding requiring statistics in lieu of algebra 2 in high school. I have a master’s in economics with a focus on econometrics, have taught applied and AP statistics at the high school level, and students who did not have algebra 2 prior to either of these classes struggled. I do agree that statistics should be a requirement, though.
That said, I believe high school students could predominantly do without most geometry/trigonometry concepts and be perfectly fine in life.

EDIT: also, if wow wanted to do a br, they totally could, by having the skills be the item pickups. Have every character have standardised gear, and pick up skills as random drops around the map. Doesnt matter if it makes crazy combos, as its restricted to a different game mode.

Super fun, but I was scared that it would be TOO MUCH FUN, when you would go back to your normal spec gameplay, feeling like a downgraded version. But then they nerfed Thorghast to make it hard for most dps spec, forcing you to play healer or tank because SCALING OMEGALOL and then they made it mandatory content, killing the fun of it. Wish they could have balanced it in the middle, still keep the fun aspect of making somewhat op build but scaled down and not making it mandatory (think like playing a Roguelike game, you play to have fun, no end goal for progression).

Yeah, this video led me down a rabbit hole of imagining what a PVP BG could look like. Lol rant below, kinda wish something like this was implemented.
I think that WoW could implement a PVP BG system where you play as some of the protagonists (Jana, Arthas), and the BGs could be based on major battles between factions, and not induce retcons by establishing these are the visions that NZoth had of what could happen.
Having us play as the main NPCs also could enable different abilities (simplifying them), BG objectives to power them up, and establish meaningful connections with the lore by showing emblematic battles. It could even allow micro transactions I guess, for emotes or something non-impactful on gameplay.
If it was allowed as a game mode within WoW, it could be ftp and make ftp players engage with the World, be interested in actually facing dungeons and raids with their own characters.
It could have some sort of ingame rewards related to seasons, like enabling these NPCs to 'remember' and offer you something from the past, like unique mounts, tabard or transmog gear.
I would love to play this, I honestly feel like one of the biggest failures of WoW is establishing emblematic NPCs that have OP powers and supposedly are active in the world but only stand there and wait for a random adventurers to solve everything.

GW2 just gives you max level gear with customizable stats for PVP. They just remove the pvp barrier. If all you care about is pvp you don’t even need to level.
They could just give you temp armor or remove your gear.
There are solutions and ways to implement they just need to be done. The money and motivation just isn’t there.
They just mismanaged pvp so much that they essentially gave up on it.

the issue with this argument is league may only have 4 abilities per character, but it has like there is 150 of them or w/e and some abilities have unique results when used in a string, and those strings can be modified further with weapons and traits and such.
take zoe for example. a lot of people esp in low ranks do not understand how play against her. It is because she can come in from far away, throw sleep bubbles over walls and basically teleport in and oneshot you.
well.. what happens when you know the spots that extend the bubble throw and you preemptively avoid those spots like I can? well you do not get one shoted. I can also save my team member by purposely getting hit by the sleep, quickly attaching to a teammate and neglect that cc and bonus damage on a teammate. So not only do you need to understand how your own 4 abilities string together and can combo, but they can have interesting interactions to other abilities from opposing side, like how I negate so much from knowing about how zoe works with me being on yuumi.
trying to understand wow PVP and everything around it is less complex then fully understanding league , its why challengers are challengers from playing it everyday for 8 hrs for 2 yrs +
what is the result of wow pvp arena players that do the same dedication of knowing every aspect of the game like that?
so my point is, you are vastly underselling how complex league abilities really is, esp when you account for all the items you get in league and need to understand those to suit your character, and reacting to builds the other side is making

Specs started to feel more like a game of whack-a-mole on free procs than managing resources. I don't want to play whack-a-mole with my action bar. I’d like for players to influence or join military pushes like in GW2 against each other.
NPC workers collecting resources to build buildings then to research buffs.
Objectives in zones that lead to new objectives unique rewards and exclusive npc shops.
I don’t remember what zone it was but in GW2 you would help the NPC’s assaulting a base win. This unlocks new quests to unlock another enemy base. They whole quest would have multiple stages and you could enter at anyone depending on where the zone is.
When all the players are gone, the base is attacked and lost.
The events that I remember was a zone boss being spawned with unquie loot and a huge ice elemental world boss being spawned if the conditions were met.
These things weren’t on a timer, they were controlled by player interactions. Sometimes you needed multiple players for the push to succeed and often the NPC’s went with you.
Just steal this and make it PVP. The best games has emergent storytelling. You need to make systems and experiences that can make compelling stories.

While I would play a BR experience in WoW I would greatly prefer to see a new addition to the WoW franchise as a stand alone product. I think WoW has had an array of artistic styles that serve the variety of products in the franchise and each rendition has differed in its level of caricature or detail.
If the Warcraft franchise took the opportunity to produce a Battle Royal I think it would look best standing as close as possible in game play to the visuals delivered in the WoW CG / live action movie.
    - For motive and setting I think the Ogre's of Dire Maul could collect heroes of the various races and pit them as small parties against other contending parties within hostile arenas. Say for instance, Un'Goro crater. Stalk the jungle amongst the ruins of ancient civilizations while evading the local Devilsaur. This event is brought to you by the eyes of Kilrogg. If it followed roughly the same design as APEX, a hero shooter, you could play for free and do the silly monthly pass with new maps and champions every season.
Lastly, I am very down for a high budget fantasy BR and pray it will be in 1st person.

That guy was respectful and made some good points, but knew waaaay too little about the leading MMOs to have a valid opinion. How can you legitimately think it's okay to criticize games you haven't even played? It's fucking nonsense. All the criticism in steam about him was rude, but true. He's just not experienced enough to take his opinions seriously, yet he acts like he knows what he's talking about.

Solution: Get rid of Leveling and implement talent point gain for Main Story Quest.
Solution: Get rid of Randomized Gear over time in phases and keep Tier Sets as Gear gains.
Solution: Revamp the interaction feature of Mythic plus and Raiding, implement 6 Sets of gear each set gained as a whole. i.e. Upon completion of heroic GAIN full heroic set. allows player skill decreases computation of specific gear combinations and increases production on boss encounters/ mythic plus encounters.

Regarding account-bound gear, it's a decent idea, but I thought early EQ had it right. Outside of some quest items, most of the high-end gear in EQ was not bound to your character in vanilla EQ. A vast majority of the gear in the game was tradeable which made for a much more robust gear economy. Prices were stabilized by the lack of instancing of boss mobs combined with larger loot tables. So items would retain their value fairly well until future content patches released newer, better items. Also, the pacing of stat inflation on items was pretty mild until Scars of Velious released.
They also had some really nice and useful gear that was available in low-mid level dungeons, as well as some longer spawn mobs out in the world (Fishbone Earring, etc.)
This created somewhat of a tiering of items when expansions would release, in that really solid gear would come down in price and become more affordable for newer/lower level players. It also allowed high-end players to twink out their alts with some of the better gear in the game, which really incentivized alts and improved replayability, despite the slow leveling speed of the game.

Imo substantially reduce leveling time. Like, 90% reduction across the board. As long as one of your characters has done the MSQ then you're good. Asmons example of Roadhog is perfect. There are some class builds I'd like to try but the time investment isn't worth it for something I may not play. I'll just go play another game or do IRL things instead.

How WoW could incorporate MOBA into a BG:
    - 5v5, small-mid map size, your actionbars change in this BG like when you hop on a turret or vehicle does rn. Horde and Alliance can play together.
    - Each spec only has access to 3-4 core abilites + 1 ultimate and a blink *zone ability*. These abilities wouldn't be straight from your spellbook, but would be like Lightning Bolt: does 100 damage.
ie: elemental shaman has lightning bolt, flame shock, frost shock, earthquake and reincarnate as an ultimate.
    - Could even make specific spells FOR this BG. Maybe hunters get a cross-map skill-shot ultimate arrow like Ashe from LoL.
    - Same spells every time and the spells do the same damage every time regardless of gear or level, but only as a baseline. There is a shop to buy items that are similar to the legendary weapons in the BC Kael'thas fight: noticeably strong but conjured and locked to the BG.
    - Waves of creeps running down the lane that drop a BG-locked currency (just to keep gold out of it). Only get the currency if you land the killing blow. Ranged classes would have an auto attack that would be some sort of range (like mages using a wand, ele sham throwing a rock, etc)
    - A unit in a bush is like a rogue in a smoke bomb, but if you're in there too then you can see/hit it. Killing bosses for team-wide buffs. Kill mobs in the jungle to get buffs.
This makes a game within a game and an evergreen PvP system that is skill based and will require balancing, but significantly less than arena or RBGs. Cosmetic rewards for winning X games with Y spec, like a skin. Recolours here would be perfect: win 10 games get green set, win 100 games get blue set, win 1000 games get red set. So when you see someone in a red set you know right away that guy is a full neck-beard.

So i've been thinking about the PvP thing. I've been playing retail since WoD (skipped cata/MoP since i was busy playing wotlk on private servers), and thought about the best PvP experiences i had in MMORPG's. I immediately thought about Guild Wars 2 when it released, and the arena tournament private servers for WoW TBC. I think the GW2 approach would do wonders to WoW PvP: Create a toon, get through the initial introduction (lvl 10 in WoW), and teleport to the "Mistlands" where your character is at max level, and you can pick up max-ilvl gear/Sockets/Enchants which ONLY work in the PvP environment. In GW2 i was able to frequently swap classes, get exotic gear and start playing PvP. After i got stomped i started optimizing stats/specc/sockets to get better. The rewards were purely cosmetic. Seeing a necromancer planting the "Dragon" rank banner in PvP was a sight to behold, pure prestige like "that guy is the GOAT!".
This would massively increase the current PvP sphere, and actually increase potential new players! I actually leveled up in GW2 because i wanted to try the lvl 80 max gear character in PvE! And it was a blast.

I grew up only knowing about WoW "because of that one South Park" episode. My friends, who are also my age (26), grew up on Blizzard. I only had Diablo II. My buddy played Starcraft II for a bit, before he shifted and stayed on Warcraft III.
While I played Black Ops 1 with my other friend, who was the Blizzard player's little brother, the older brother played Warcraft III right up into World of Warcraft.
We all fell out of it from 15 to 19-ish, but on a whim last year, they got into Wrath Classic, and they actually gifted me a 3-month.
I never really play MMORPGs: I hate them, in fact. This is only my opinion that I think: they're grindfests, and I feel like their worlds are hollow.
However, walking around in Classic, getting used to the scope, and scale, and MAJESTY of the game...
It was great. The fact most everything is voice acted, too, really helps, since combat is actually nice, especially when a character has a ton of options to them early game if they know how to read.
Point being, if I, a 26-year-old man who doesn't really give a hoot about the role game, the stat game, the numbers game, can be made to enjoy all that by way of simply sitting, and interacting with the game... Blizzard really should give out 1-month free trials of Classic at least.
It's way more fun than something like Elder Scrolls Online, or even Genshin, because it is what it is, and not a million other things like these other MMOs.
The experience really was fun, and the only reason why I'm not still playing, is I cannot afford the 3-month, maybe not even the 1-month right now. Spotify is much more important to me, lol.
World of Warcraft, even Classic, maybe even Classic moreso, is such a gem of a game, with a rich and diverse world that's fun to explore. It'd be really cruddy if Blizzard lets it go to the graves. They've kept it alive so far, and people continue to support it, so as long as Blizzard never stops putting in effort there, it shouldn't falter. It may dwindle, but it should never die.
They really should do a yearly recruitment campaign. Every December, just have a 1-month free WoW Classic event. If they can keep introducing this game to MMORPG enthusiasts, especially up and comers dealing only with free-to-play, or indie titles. Showing them that "hey, when you pay a little bit, this is what you can experience!" will do a lot. Out of all the premiums I paid for and ended up stopping, WoW's one of the only ones that'd I'd reconsider grabbing again.

I don't trust his opinion on this due to the 5 string bass behind him. YOU DON'T need the extra string. Victor Wooten had 4 strings. You'll be fine. I WOULD say that League and CSGO and Valorant lend themselves more to replayability since you don't invest hours and hours in a character but. It's just different.

WoW has too much replayability. How do I "finish" the game now? The last boss in current patch? Beat every boss in the game, until and including the current ones?
Collecting every item is too much. Doing every quest is too much. Doing every achievement is a pipedream.
The above reasons are why I'm not going back to WoW, and I quit in MoP (scared away by pandas, I can't accept an april fools joke becoming an expansion).

I wish gaming companies would stop try to please everyone, and just try and please their core audience. Instead, we get these _Jack of all trades_ games, that master nothing. What's that Bilbo quote? Butter scraped over too much bread? That's how I feel about many modern games.

Ah, yes. The only way for WoW to be successful is to adapt and change with it’s players. Which is why it should do everything in its power to become every other genre except itself, right?
I mean, when FPS’s came out WoW should have copied them. It’s not like Halo 2 was out before WoW was or anything (it was out two weeks before WoW).
And obviously the original Warcraft players evolved to playing Fortnite now that they are in their mid 30’s. Blizzard should have kept up with them!
It’s shocking that a role playing game doesn’t have the same number of PvP players as a 100% PvP game like CoD, honestly.
In true honesty, the point that it hasn’t kept up with the players is true, but every example this dude is tossing out is not a good one. This just reminds me of the Act Man’s video talking about how streamers thought Halo would completely flop since it didn’t have a BR.

"they're adding features for the long-term", eh not really IMO. Do we really think Dragonflying is going to be built upon in a meaningful way in the next 3 patches let alone expansion. They'll add new patch zones that have a few races and things to find but they're not going to keep it going and update it like FF14 or GW2 doesl to its legacy systems.

Why has no mmo made a battleground or even a central mechanic with rts elements. Level NPCs or alts, have them protect your base or assist you in raiding and have a base invasion mode. Now players try different classes and learn the classes, station the characters, etc. No brainer fun mode. You can expand that into a no barrier draft type mode for people who want to try. Throw an idle game in there as well.

I think Blizzard would solve all their problems if they just hired like 20 hardcore WOW players that function as consultants for the teams and/or create ideas for new WOW content.
