On the Time Lost drake: I was one of the first people on my server to get into Storm Peaks. I saw this guy flying over the viking village and had no clue what it was. Ended up finding another guy nearby and we took him down. The other guy got the mount, it was the first one ever dropped on our server. I haven't seen the Time-Lost drake since. I've always regretted pulling that guy in to help, it's my one biggest regret in WoW.
i got it years ago when i was in a party with my duo, he yelled that a horde warrior was already attacking it, i freaked out, we dropped down, killed the undead warrior when he had left the drake on literally 3000hp, im not joking. The drake Reset, and then my duo partner let me have it... still cant belive it to this day.
I have two experiences with the TimeLost: My first find of it was on my rogue during WotLK. I found it, flew next to it, and tried to Fan of Knives....but I had the option that I couldn't use abilities while mounted so someone else swooped in and got it. My second time was during Cata on my Warlock. More experienced from the first time, I had that cannot attack while mounted button off, or it was removed, don't remember. I was flying around and I saw it. Blood in my eyes, I land and hit it with Corruption....Now, I know everyone here knows the problem already. Since Corruption takes time to tick for that first damage, someone else swooped in and took it. Haven't actively farmed for it since.
@@HollowPlane Sorry bro. I got mine during Wotlk after camping for almost a week. It spawned, and I flew above it, dismounted mid air and hit it with an arcane blast. I almost died due to fall damage, but was able to pop everything and kill it. My heart almost exploded out of my chest.
I also feel that he doesn't have a lot of prospective on just how much time he actually spends on some of these. He does have a lot of time to do these since this is his job and I would guess he loses track of just how long he spends day after day especially a few years later when he remembers getting something and not the slog on the way there.

I remember I had a guildy who fished for days, trying to get the turtle mount you got by fishing. And than, an other guy, who never leveled up fishing, got it after casting three times. The mental breakdown that followed was fenomenal.
I remember a guild member fishing up the turtle mount on day 1 , seeing his achievement pop up in guild chat, and being jealous for over a year while I fished non stop to try to get it… made a lot of gold tho from all the fish!
Same with the Rat in Dalaran, i see one Guy having it, asked him how to get, he said he fishing here for Weeks, i take out my Pole, fish ONE time and got it :D But i think one of the hardest Mounts to farm was the Black Talbuk in TBC, i killed Ogers Days over Days and u also need to kill 200 Alliance in Halaa
When you see those mount offs understand some of those mounts are an hour of effort some are THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF EFFORT. Some you can get by accident from just killing something at random on the way from one activity to another, some require you to dedicate yourself specifically to them for weeks or months. It’s the only real measure of clout left in wow
The only time I've ever gotten lucky with a mount drop and admittedly it was pretty freaking lucky was when I got the thundering cobalt cloud serpent from the very first nalak kill on my realm.
That's the problem, camping a spawn for a whole day is nothing to people who stream for a living or don't have to work but for people who work 40+ hours a week, who wants to give up a whole day camping a spawn in wow on the 2 days a week you get off.
Asmon is so out of touch, " 5 mil gold? pffft just do world quests ". does he realise that unlike him, not all of us have 26 hours every day to play this game?
@@fabachso9184 The game has made it allot easier to get these mounts. The trick was getting the mounts for the next xpac came out so it was allot more rare.
I mean it may be easy but at the same time for drop mounts like the phosphorescent stone drake it can be a bitch waiting for however long I just don't have that time to wait for it to spawn
Only one I don't have here is the brutosaur since they only let us know a couple of months before they removed it that it was being removed. I got really pissed off about that. Having a job makes it harder to farm mats and gold to attain it with only 8 weeks left to get it. They should never have removed it
I'm surprised the Silent Glider from Soundless isn't on this list. - Has multiple spawn points in an area in Nazjatar. - Need flying to get to areas (not much of an issue now) - 7 or so hour respawn timer. - Not even a guarantee drop (1%) - *Can be hunter tamed* - In Asmongold's case, people tend to make Soundless troll groups to screw around with him (and by extension, screw around with everyone else, too)
A close friend of mine didnt talk to me for 3 months after randomly getting the heavenly onyx cloud serpent on my 1st attempt when I was just fucking around and didn't know what it was.
I got the Time Lost Proto Drake by accident while doing a Jewelcrafting Daily in WotLK. I was mining a node and when I turned around it was flying right over me. Literally no one else was around so I just pulled it and got a new mount. I thought nothing of it. But seeing videos like this makes me smile knowing that I actually have this fucker.
Yea, it’s part of his character but I don’t like that he always talks as if we are all no lifers that can play 8+ hours a day. I’m sure a lot of his fans are bums who get supported by their parents though, so I guess that’s why he panders to them.

Back when I played WoW I tried solo farming for the Time Lost Proto-Drake and sought out Skoll to tame at the same time. Never did find either of them... Then I went on over to Sholazar Basin and just casually found Loque'nahak, who I didn't really want, but tamed regardless.
I thought the Headless Horseman mount was difficult to farm also since you can only get it during Halloween. But I suppose that also applies to all seasonal mounts, like the Reindeer.
There used to be a Cross realm zone bug in Mist with the mantid archaeology item. You could have the buff and move zones between uldum and any zone next to it to constantly switch the surveys up on your map. So you could just swap back and forth until there were uldum surveys while you were in uldum. I farmed the battle tank in like 3 hours using it.
A friend of mine, several years ago, managed to get 4 1% (or less) raid mounts in just 1 day. Every single of those 4 raids he has visited for the first time in his life. The mounts are: Grand Black War Mammoth (in this case, there are 3 bosses with 0,8% and 1 with 0,7%... his dropped from the very first boss he killed) Onyxian Drake Mimiron's Head Smoldering Egg of Millagazor (Firelands Ragnaros) He didn't even go there for the mounts, he went there for achievements.

I got lucky with the phosphorescent drake while I was farming the vitriolian one in the dungeon. I teleported in the zone and when I flew to the dungeon the mob respawned right in front of my eyes. GG
In the last 24 hours I obtained Voidtalon, TLPD, AND Long-Forgotten Hippogryph! I want to thank Asmon for inspiring me to start playing again, and because of that I was finally able to get these mounts! Plus I found Aeonaxx a week or so ago! I used Asmon's suggestion of making a toon on a low pop RP realm and I had it within less than 2 days. The other 3 I got from my super heavy CRZ filled realm that had a ton of competition, so I got very lucky.
Problem with Mounts on AH. At least 99% of them on servers I played on. They were either Cap gold amount or Crazy High Prices. Same thing when it comes to Gear and weapons before Transmog Prices were reasonably priced. People were able to get the gear they actually needed. After Transmog Prices Skyrocketed to Insane way to high of price. IE lvl 10 leather braces before Transmog maybe 75 silver to 1 gold at highest. After Transmog same leather braces. 10,000 gold+
Terrified Pack Mule deserves to be on this list because yes you could buy it on the AH, but _someone_ has to farm that mount for it to be on the AH at all.

I was server first on area 52 to get heavenly onyx like maybe 2 months into pandaria. I had no idea how ridiculously rare it was at the time but it has since become my prized possession
I don't play wow or watch neither of these channels alot bilut these videos popped up and I like how you can tell how much these guys both know. I like when he says the same exact thing after Asmon pauses and says it.
Asmongold is wrong; the time-lost proto is farmed in a group, but every spawn is camped by different groups if you kill it at one spot, no one else no one in the group gets it if there at different spawn that why each group of 5 camps one spot. Sometimes they're more than one group at spawn. In summary, it about less than a 2 percent spawn chance that you have to wait up to 6 hours for that can be sniped by the opposite faction or solo people. It is so much harder than wotlk. ( math for the 2 percent is because Val has a 90% chance of spawn, so your chance is 10% divide by the 5 spawn is 2% if their other group it 1% if no one use cheats and it fair.)( also, it been sniped many times by horde I heard of at least five times personally)
If the spawn rate is average 4 hours and all groups are full that makes TLPD two times harder then Hualon and mail muncher with a 6 hour window at it lowest drop rate
@@NomNomNom1989 nope does not work you have to be in a certain range. Even in raid now I did herioc nighthold with a group and we both killed a boss since we were not in range i could not loot his boss and he could not loot my.
Before they made Mounts Account wide, i farmen TLPD successfully for 3 chars. First Was like 2 days Camping, second 2 weeks and the third one Was like a month. Catched every vyragosa spawn to have a clue when the tlpd spawn timer starts. Time of my life!
I remember when I got the voidtalon mount. A feral druid went for the same portal as me, so I dismounted and used Spike-Toed Booterang on him in frostfire so he fell down and died xD Ive never laughed so hard in my entire life
I was doing a quest to pick up stuff in the sand and clicked this by accident and got ported on my 83 boomkin back in the day. I wasn't aware of the mount and achievement and nearly died. I kited it around for 10 minutes before killing it. It's my pride and joy :)
Time-Lost Proto-Drake is the only rare mount i have. Didn't even know about it when i killed the mob that drops it. Was just minding my own business when i saw a mob with an interesting name so i killed it. Immagine my surprise when a bunch of people showed up afterwards pissed off, and getting a mount when looting it. My guild absolutely hated me when i told them. Didn't even know it was rare or difficult to get. Never saw the mob again though.
@@MrBlueSleeves Most sources estimate through various forms of data that there's roughly 3-5 million people still playing and that's not including china where there's undoubtedly millions upon millions more.
@ThundahBolt Probably not as many as you think, I'd bet there's at least thousands that do but that's a very small percent when we're looking at the overall numbers of the player base.
I got TLPD before I even knew it was a mount. I was just flying through storm peaks doing dailies, was like ooooo pretty dragon. Killed it and flipped out it was a mount.

If the drop rate of the onyx CS is 1/2000, then according to probability, to get even a 90% chance of obtaining the mount, you have to kill it at least 4605 times.
I used to sell the opportunity to get this mount. Only worked at certain graveyards, and using 2 special macros, and standing max distance, the other player can kill you like every 5 seconds.
I was a little kid when WoW first came out. The only time I got to play WoW was when I visited my cousins house who played it so much back in the day. Now I’m 22 years old and currently saving for a PC. I actually can’t wait to play this again after so long

The one good thing xrealms did for me was allow me to cheese the time lost proto drake. I remember you could use an ip blocker to prevent you from entering a populated realm. then just go find it. only problem is you had to kill it fast since you got transfered back in once you started attacking.
void seeker was soo ez to get. put a pg in each spawn points (are 5/6 actually spawn points), wait for reset servers and log them one by one untill u find the portal. the portal open at the exact time of the reset and last 1 hour. easyest mount to get.
Me and pretty much all my friend list has that mount now, it's actually really strange he hasn't looted it yet, tbh I think he's avoided farming it just so he can meme
time lost proto drake took me 40 hours. which included 6 hours of sleep. i camped the northwest spawn point (with a dozen or so others who had been there long before me) when i heard the npc scan go off i used a /target time /shadowstep macro and spammed backstab. no one else had a chance. i wasn't even looking.
I was just passing through Stormpeaks shortly after dinging 80 when I seen the Time-Lost protodrake. I didn’t know anything about it, dropped it on my troll hunter, got the mount and never even used it for a couple years because I didn’t know it was pretty rare. Also I know not rare, but the green protodrake popped out of the very first egg I hatched. My luck in WotLK was on another level apparently cause Ive never had lucky drops like that since.
Yeah, pretty much. He gets everything served on a golden plate from his edgy 13 year old fans and then act like he's a god. He doesn't understand that some people don't have 20 hours a day to farm, I only get to play WoW for around 5 hours each day, and I'm a mythic raider. He's just entitled and his content is horrible. Been binge watching some videos to see if he's as funny as he used to be, and I realized that he never was funny.
ive gotten super lucky with the onyx cloud serpent mount. When vulpera became available to play, I decided I was going to level one up for the heritage armor. Well, when I got to Pandaria and started questing in Kun-lai, the sha of anger just happened to be spawning. So I figured I would stay and stick around for the kill as there was other people there waiting for it to spawn as well. Lucky me, the mount dropped on my first kill of the guy. The funny part is that I couldn't even learn the mount at the time because you had to be lvl 90 to learn it and I was only a lvl 88 at the time. So no one believed me when I said I got the mount xD
Not sure I agree with #1 because it's seasonal - you literally can't do anything to obtain it for most of the year, so it's not as much an annoying grind as it is rare.
I love how he thinks getting 5 million gold is just so easy, he doesn't seem to realize how easy he has it with people just giving him stuff all the time.

@@MegaMrsuperawesome You can farm the gold to buy it. That is my point exactly. You can't "farm" the Brutosaur either, but you can farm the gold to buy it. So if he's going to put it on the list than he might as well include the spectral tiger since it is "farmed" the same way as the Brutosaur.
Go to MOP for digsites - go to the place where the archiology artifact vendor is and use the item that roll all the digsites to dreadwaste and farm it! Easiest way to complete all item drops

@@BITCOIlN "wow is dying". People have been saying that since Cataclysm, which is 10 years ago. Classic wow brought back a lot of players. I'm personally looking forward to Classic TBC, since that is when I started playing wow around 13 years ago.
Asmon is correct about making money by selling loot, rather that directly farming gold. In classic the main-priest in our guild had such an insane luck with absolutely everything, he has the nickname "luckor" to this day. Got all his sets completed first, including those early 0.5 sets, and always dropped larva acid in the plaguelands when just riding to Stratholme. Tripped over blood of heroes, and all those things. The luck streak continued throughout all his WoW-Expansions, while the Paladin who needed those drops... farmed 2h for just one. Either way, his most important quote still is true: "I don't understand why people are poor in WoW, the money is literally lying on the ground, you just need to pick it up!" - and put it in the auction house.
I got the TLPD completely by luck. I had a level 74 troll fire mage and I was waiting for people to clear the newbie zones in Cata before I started working there so I was in Stormpeaks farming Saronite and I was in that gorge in the lower left of the screen and it spawned right on my characters head. I almost didn't kill it but as soon as it spawned the general chat lit up.
WOW players be like “I only have have to spend a day farming that?!?” You’re literally spending 5 hours in a video game when you could be outside living life.
I farmed a lot of mounts and the most annoying, hardest and costfull for me was without a doubt Black Qiraji Battle Tank. Farmed The Insane at the same time, it didn't help.

My luckiest mounts were probably the azure drake and firehawk. Got azure drake first try and just thought it was a worthless mount that's guaranteed to drop since there was no way i could get a mount first try. Firehawk I got from letting my younger brother play a demon hunter through firelands and after i checked the loot he got from his run he got the hawk for me on his first attempt.

Can relate, the first kill on Oondasta on my server i won the mount, i didn't get the pile of shit, but i was able to bonus roll the mount.

Only one I don't have here is the brutosaur since they only let us know a couple of months before they removed it that it was being removed. I got really pissed off about that. Having a job makes it harder to farm mats and gold to attain it with only 8 weeks left to get it. They should never have removed it
I'm surprised the Silent Glider from Soundless isn't on this list.
- Has multiple spawn points in an area in Nazjatar.
- Need flying to get to areas (not much of an issue now)

- In Asmongold's case, people tend to make Soundless troll groups to screw around with him (and by extension, screw around with everyone else, too)

I got the Time Lost Proto Drake by accident while doing a Jewelcrafting Daily in WotLK. I was mining a node and when I turned around it was flying right over me. Literally no one else was around so I just pulled it and got a new mount. I thought nothing of it. But seeing videos like this makes me smile knowing that I actually have this fucker.

Back when I played WoW I tried solo farming for the Time Lost Proto-Drake and sought out Skoll to tame at the same time. Never did find either of them...
Then I went on over to Sholazar Basin and just casually found Loque'nahak, who I didn't really want, but tamed regardless.
I thought the Headless Horseman mount was difficult to farm also since you can only get it during Halloween. But I suppose that also applies to all seasonal mounts, like the Reindeer.
Maybe the drop rate is higher than the rocket

There used to be a Cross realm zone bug in Mist with the mantid archaeology item. You could have the buff and move zones between uldum and any zone next to it to constantly switch the surveys up on your map. So you could just swap back and forth until there were uldum surveys while you were in uldum. I farmed the battle tank in like 3 hours using it.
A friend of mine, several years ago, managed to get 4 1% (or less) raid mounts in just 1 day. Every single of those 4 raids he has visited for the first time in his life.
The mounts are: Grand Black War Mammoth (in this case, there are 3 bosses with 0,8% and 1 with 0,7%... his dropped from the very first boss he killed)

In the last 24 hours I obtained Voidtalon, TLPD, AND Long-Forgotten Hippogryph! I want to thank Asmon for inspiring me to start playing again, and because of that I was finally able to get these mounts! Plus I found Aeonaxx a week or so ago! I used Asmon's suggestion of making a toon on a low pop RP realm and I had it within less than 2 days. The other 3 I got from my super heavy CRZ filled realm that had a ton of competition, so I got very lucky.

Problem with Mounts on AH. At least 99% of them on servers I played on. They were either Cap gold amount or Crazy High Prices. Same thing when it comes to Gear and weapons before Transmog Prices were reasonably priced. People were able to get the gear they actually needed. After Transmog Prices Skyrocketed to Insane way to high of price. IE lvl 10 leather braces before Transmog maybe 75 silver to 1 gold at highest. After Transmog same leather braces. 10,000 gold+
Loads of people got the bug mount during mop, there was an exploit with one of the arch items the vendor used to sell

I was server first on area 52 to get heavenly onyx like maybe 2 months into pandaria. I had no idea how ridiculously rare it was at the time but it has since become my prized possession

Asmongold is wrong; the time-lost proto is farmed in a group, but every spawn is camped by different groups if you kill it at one spot, no one else no one in the group gets it if there at different spawn that why each group of 5 camps one spot. Sometimes they're more than one group at spawn. In summary, it about less than a 2 percent spawn chance that you have to wait up to 6 hours for that can be sniped by the opposite faction or solo people. It is so much harder than wotlk. ( math for the 2 percent is because Val has a 90% chance of spawn, so your chance is 10% divide by the 5 spawn is 2% if their other group it 1% if no one use cheats and it fair.)( also, it been sniped many times by horde I heard of at least five times personally)
If the spawn rate is average 4 hours and all groups are full that makes TLPD two times harder then Hualon and mail muncher with a 6 hour window at it lowest drop rate

Before they made Mounts Account wide, i farmen TLPD successfully for 3 chars. First Was like 2 days Camping, second 2 weeks and the third one Was like a month. Catched every vyragosa spawn to have a clue when the tlpd spawn timer starts. Time of my life!
I remember when I got the voidtalon mount. A feral druid went for the same portal as me, so I dismounted and used Spike-Toed Booterang on him in frostfire so he fell down and died xD

I was doing a quest to pick up stuff in the sand and clicked this by accident and got ported on my 83 boomkin back in the day. I wasn't aware of the mount and achievement and nearly died. I kited it around for 10 minutes before killing it. It's my pride and joy :)

Time-Lost Proto-Drake is the only rare mount i have. Didn't even know about it when i killed the mob that drops it. Was just minding my own business when i saw a mob with an interesting name so i killed it. Immagine my surprise when a bunch of people showed up afterwards pissed off, and getting a mount when looting it. My guild absolutely hated me when i told them. Didn't even know it was rare or difficult to get. Never saw the mob again though.

If the drop rate of the onyx CS is 1/2000, then according to probability, to get even a 90% chance of obtaining the mount, you have to kill it at least 4605 times.

I used to sell the opportunity to get this mount. Only worked at certain graveyards, and using 2 special macros, and standing max distance, the other player can kill you like every 5 seconds.

The one good thing xrealms did for me was allow me to cheese the time lost proto drake.
I remember you could use an ip blocker to prevent you from entering a populated realm. then just go find it. only problem is you had to kill it fast since you got transfered back in once you started attacking.

void seeker was soo ez to get. put a pg in each spawn points (are 5/6 actually spawn points), wait for reset servers and log them one by one untill u find the portal. the portal open at the exact time of the reset and last 1 hour. easyest mount to get.

time lost proto drake took me 40 hours. which included 6 hours of sleep. i camped the northwest spawn point (with a dozen or so others who had been there long before me)
when i heard the npc scan go off i used a /target time /shadowstep macro and spammed backstab. no one else had a chance. i wasn't even looking.
I was just passing through Stormpeaks shortly after dinging 80 when I seen the Time-Lost protodrake. I didn’t know anything about it, dropped it on my troll hunter, got the mount and never even used it for a couple years because I didn’t know it was pretty rare. Also I know not rare, but the green protodrake popped out of the very first egg I hatched. My luck in WotLK was on another level apparently cause Ive never had lucky drops like that since.

He doesn't understand that some people don't have 20 hours a day to farm, I only get to play WoW for around 5 hours each day, and I'm a mythic raider. He's just entitled and his content is horrible. Been binge watching some videos to see if he's as funny as he used to be, and I realized that he never was funny.
ive gotten super lucky with the onyx cloud serpent mount. When vulpera became available to play, I decided I was going to level one up for the heritage armor. Well, when I got to Pandaria and started questing in Kun-lai, the sha of anger just happened to be spawning. So I figured I would stay and stick around for the kill as there was other people there waiting for it to spawn as well. Lucky me, the mount dropped on my first kill of the guy. The funny part is that I couldn't even learn the mount at the time because you had to be lvl 90 to learn it and I was only a lvl 88 at the time. So no one believed me when I said I got the mount xD

Not sure I agree with #1 because it's seasonal - you literally can't do anything to obtain it for most of the year, so it's not as much an annoying grind as it is rare.

Asmon is correct about making money by selling loot, rather that directly farming gold. In classic the main-priest in our guild had such an insane luck with absolutely everything, he has the nickname "luckor" to this day. Got all his sets completed first, including those early 0.5 sets, and always dropped larva acid in the plaguelands when just riding to Stratholme. Tripped over blood of heroes, and all those things. The luck streak continued throughout all his WoW-Expansions, while the Paladin who needed those drops... farmed 2h for just one. Either way, his most important quote still is true: "I don't understand why people are poor in WoW, the money is literally lying on the ground, you just need to pick it up!" - and put it in the auction house.

I got the TLPD completely by luck. I had a level 74 troll fire mage and I was waiting for people to clear the newbie zones in Cata before I started working there so I was in Stormpeaks farming Saronite and I was in that gorge in the lower left of the screen and it spawned right on my characters head. I almost didn't kill it but as soon as it spawned the general chat lit up.

I farmed a lot of mounts and the most annoying, hardest and costfull for me was without a doubt Black Qiraji Battle Tank. Farmed The Insane at the same time, it didn't help.

My luckiest mounts were probably the azure drake and firehawk. Got azure drake first try and just thought it was a worthless mount that's guaranteed to drop since there was no way i could get a mount first try. Firehawk I got from letting my younger brother play a demon hunter through firelands and after i checked the loot he got from his run he got the hawk for me on his first attempt.
