Here is a humble attempt to give a short view of Sri Sivan sir’s YENIPPADIGALI MAANTHARGAL book.
The majority of the book is in TAMIL. There are a few pages in English that Sri Siva Periyava has written. There is no English only version of the book.
Yenippadigalil Maanthargal is ~650 pages with very intricate details that Sri Sivan sir has elucidated on various topics.
Sri Siva periyava outlines characteristics of 11 gradations in human life in Yenipadigalil Maandhargal: Paavi, Pamaran, Vivegi, Sadhu, Sirandha Vivegi, Muttrina Vivegi, Deiva Vivegi, Devia Sadhu, Mahaan, Thuravi, Gynani (Brahmam). The worldly detachment, renunciation, and surrender to the guru, the Almighty will happen automatically as one progresses in the human gradation ladder. The progression in human gradation happens effortlessly as one leads a life that is conducive to such growth.
Reading and re-reading the whole book (like Parayanam) ignites a spark in us. Throughout the book, Sri Sivan sir has showered his guidance that awakens us to details in our way of life to lead a more righteous one.
The organization of the initial topics is profound. The first half of the book has contents such as our culture, Universal religion - “Devia Madham”, Vedas, the importance of cows, thoughtless use of science, impurity in gluten and alternate choice such as spelt. Sri periyava has also written in detail about Roman Mythology and Gods, Egyptian Civilization, Persian war, archeology, astronomy, and good governance.
Sri Siva periyava's drawings and maps of many regions of the world will make us wonder how such details were made available to him until we realize His incarnation.
As a transition from the first portion, Sri Siva periyava indicates how one must undergo the play of Karma and that no one can escape it - Even the determination of divinity cannot change destiny. It is important to serve and tend to the needs of highly evolved souls, i.e. above vivegi level which is Sadhu level and above”. These highly evolved people do not surround themselves with a lavishness that the world has to offer. They have surrendered themselves to serve God. They also do not expect anything from those who serve or visit them. Their needs are very simple and not attractive. However, if we happen to come across such evolved souls who match the above description, it is important that we not just see them once, salute, and leave. We have to tend to their basic needs. In some cases, our fates can be re-written because of the service rendered to such evolved souls if they feel it is needed. And this change of fate is done indirectly by the Almighty.
There is a chapter in the book where Sri Sivan sir vividly describes the play of magic and how common man is deceived and trapped by it thinking it is the holy power of self-proclaimed godmen or pious men or women who claim to do poojas to relieve our problems.
The second portion of the book covers key incidents from the lives of many evolved souls who lived their lives as humans, yet were tested but persevered the twists and turns of their fate. Stories of Karikal Ammaiyar, Theertha Narayanar, Narayana Theerthar, Nandhanar, Badrachala Ramadas, ChinnanSamiyar, Sadasiva Brahamam are just a few to name from the book. In all the chapters Sri Siva periyava calls out attention to specifics that act as a guiding light to refine our behavior. Our life is a journey and we undertake it with our Guru’s blessings.
YENIPPADIGALI MAANTHARGAL from Sri Sivan sir is our “Rakshai” to help us journey through this life and beyond. Sri Sivan sir concludes “முக்கிய கவனிப்பு” by saying, “தெய்வங்களையும் வேதத்தையும் தொழுவோம் யாமே,” Let us pray to the Almighty and Vedas. We have experienced directly or have come to know widely that Sri Mahaperiyava dedicated this birth to guard the Vedas and promote the practice of Shastras leading to divinity. Both Sri Mahaperiyava and Sri Siva periyava are leading us by example.
Prayers to Sri Siva periyava to bless the devotees who listen, read, and aspire to read Yennipadigalil Mandhargal
