We are not just here for autism videos. We are here also for you, Paul! It makes me happy to see you make content like this too. I'd love to hear about your progress on your walk if you have energy to do so! I hope you have an excellent break! Never give us any more than you can comfortably afford. ❤

Got my diagnosis today and I'm officially part of the gang (level 1). You are a large part of why I got a diagnosis this late in my life, Just know that ALL your work is appreciated and can change lives.
I think you should take all the time you need to recover from burnout, and post a VLog ONLY when you feel like it wont tax you or hinder your recovery.
I speak for everyone when I say a few months without you is better than complete burnout(and the end of your channel); you're a leader and inspiration in the ASD community and burnout is one of the challenges we all face, every time you recover from it, it shows us that it's possible.

@@sarahcauer88 Best of luck Sarah. Try not to worry too much like I did. I was scared the whole time between the 7 sessions thinking that they wouldn't see my autism. After reading the final report I realized it was actually me that didn't see the full extent of my autism. I guess what i'm saying is that they will know what to look for even if you're not 100% sure yourself they can't miss it, even if you're good at masking.

Actually it was a very interessting day today! Camino de Santiago can be life changing. If you are able to do some small vlogs here and there, it would be awesome, but I know that this kind of pilgrimage bring us in another state of mind and emotion and it can be difficult to take the camera and film/edit. Whatever suits you best. The most important thing is that you can recharge. ❤

YES! Please share small snippets of your trip! I am really looking forward to seeing short clips of your adventure. We do turn to his channel for sound advise and encouragement, and this trip is a part of that. It helps us see you in real life, and helps us to see that we, too, can find ways to recharge and enjoy life. I appreciate the idea of seeing some “unscripted” time. This all makes your advice more credible. Showing us that what you preach is what you live. Thank you for being willing to share this part of yourself. It gives hope to many that you are being authentic. That, yes, you struggle (as do so many others) but the things you advise can really help.

Now a year later I have made great progress in that area, that process of self-analysis and awareness will never stop. thanks for that!

Hello Paul, this time if for you so only share IF you feel you can. There are some truly beautiful parts of the world that you will be travelling through so just to see a few of these would be a treat.
Your videos have been a great help to me over the last year. From discovering that I could be on the spectrum (at the age of 58 - with not the slightest idea of this, as I could find excuses and reasons for most of my special traits), learning what has helped you and trying to see if these things will help me to finally getting confirmation of being on the autism spectrum at the age of 58.
Now I am looking back to your previous videos to see where I can help myself get through life with a new insight. Thank you Neal

He's doing fine, he does this every year. It's an annual routine rest schedule he does to prevent having a burnout. He puts a lot of time and work in his videos to help others learn more about "autism from the inside." As a content creator myself, I know first hand that creating videos can be mentally exhausting. I usually prevent my bournouts by doing mini travels like day long road trips usually once a every week as opposed to three months once a year like he does. We have to find our own method that works best for ourselves.

I would definitely like you to keep posting updates. I need all the information and research I can find about autism in Women. And you have explained so much. You have the perfect way to communicate the things I've been trying to explain to those around me for so long. But I can't seem to get the right words out.
I do have adhd. But now after all my research I'm more and more sure I'm
Autistic too. But I can't find a way to make them see the real me. They won't take it serious. All of your last videos about the different traits Autistic people seem to share. I have most of those traits. The litteral way of thinking and speaking, makes people misunderstand the things I say all the time. And my need for answers and explanation for why things are the way they are, seems to be annoying some people alot. I know we are really far behind when it comes to diagnosing here in Norway, and even further away when diagnosing Women. So I feel like it's up to me to educate myself and provide research and evidence to prove my case. I just don't have anyone educated or Autistic to talk about these things, and no one to help me answer all the questions I've now got on autism and how I compare with my traits, to someone who was Autistic or someone who knew enough about autism. I don't know where else to find good information that I can use when trying to explain. 🙈
You and your videos have made such a huge difference in my journey to figure out why I'm feeling like I've been left here, on the wrong planet.
Your work matters, you make a huge difference in people's lives. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to help.❤️

    Just a couple of thoughts:
    1) Setting yourself a target, any target, including not having a burn-out in 12 months, is adding to the pressure on you. Relax, targets = pressure!
    2) It takes longer to bounce back because you are getting older - sorry! It happens to us all.
As for the Vlogs - if you feel like it, do it, otherwise don't. No targets, no pressure ;-)

Yes, if it doesn't drain energy from you it would be wonderful to hear updates from your walk in France and Spain. Some topics I'm intresserad in is if the energy spent on walking is restored the next day or if you need more rest than the time you've been walking. (10h walk = 10h rest or more) If mental issues or bad memories come up during the road, does your thoughts get sorted out on the way and if the exercise help resolv the thoughts or make you more draind because of needing to sort them out? Is it harder at the beginning or att the end of the journey or does it vary each day? And of course it's interesting to know what you see on your path and who you meet 😊 Good luck with everything 👍😉

Oh you are not so far from me, I live in the south of France, welcome.
_Thank for sharing, that's explain why, between each job I did, I did long break without working. Thing that many people and society don't find normal, because we have to justify the period where we didn't work, in the curriculum vitae (resume) and that it reduces the chances of having a job. I didn't know how to justify myself before, my ex boyfriend and parents surely found me lazy, and didn't understand why I took so much time to find a another job.
_I was diagnosed only 2 months ago, that explain a lot of things in myself and my life.
_When I did athletics younger, I needed 2 or 3 times longer than the others to find a resting heart rate and my breath.
Have a good trip, rest well it's important.
The color of your t-shirt is my favorite color.

Share your experiences when YOU feel the need. You and your welfare come first. You don't need the pressure of your patrons and followers need for content interfering with your well-deserved rest and reset.

Absolutely here for any casual thought-of-the-day content you'd like to share along the way. A camera mounted mic with a wind baffle muff thing may be worthwhile if you're making a habit of it?

@Autism From The Inside, I would be happy with some still shots from your day after you stop moving, with a tiny bit of commentary on the facts - how far, how high, how anything else you want to record as noteworthy - and maybe a shot of the map that shows your progress, Itchy Boot style. [See start of S7 E10 for example, but sometimes she does it at the end of an episode.] Your walk will be the quintessential opposite so maybe a walker's map which shows the physical geography in greater detail, would be needed. Max 5 mins. Then rest!

Hello 🙌 You're so lucky you get to not only take three month breaks every year which is pretty not possible to do for most people but get to travel to different countries which is something I've always wanted to do since traveling is one of my "special interests". Your also lucky your girlfriend let's you do this too as this is also not possible for most people in relationships- especially with families.

Just keep listening to your body and vlog or don't vlog, accordingly. In my experience, healing burnout demanded a lot of inner listening and reflection and giving up pleasing others. And it took years. Take extra good care of yourself. Yes, I'd love to see vlogs from your walk but only if it enhances your energy!

Hey Paul, thank you for your channel and the work you do! I had a question about the term "neurodivergent." My understanding is that the term was developed by and for Autistic people, but that it has also been used to describe people with severe anxiety, depression, and bipolar. I myself am in the latter group with depression and bipolar, and I have liked the term and found it more humanizing than others. I was wondering how you felt about people with conditions like mine using the term, and if you knew how the wider community of people on the spectrum felt about other people adopting the term.
