Another gem of a video! A good friend of mine has the 1926 s wheat penny in BU condition. I actually held it in my hand! He was at a coin shop in Cleveland, OH, and an older lady came to sell her late husbands collection. He spotted the coin, and while the coin shop employee was busy trying to assess the lady’s collection he jumped in and offered him $500 for the coin. I don’t think he was paying much attention because after he sold the coin to my buddy for $500, the owner of the coin shop later called him to say that he wanted the coin back because his employee was preoccupied at the time of the sale and should not have sold him the coin. My friend refused to give it back. Coin dealer has since sued my friend and the case is in litigation. Kicker is that he’s not allowed to sell the coin until the case has reached judgement and the coin now sits in an escrow account. That is a 100% true story. I have a picture of the coin in my phone and show people that I tell this story to that don’t believe me! 💴 💰 👏🏼
