Second that! Arab Man, ABSOLUTELY the first step in getting to know what AYreon is about is "The Day the World Breaks Down". AND DO NOT ignore the comments of The Genius Himself (you'll see), cause you'll miss out on the immense driving force of Ayreon: THE JOY! The joy of making music together. The same joy you see in the faces of the Nightwish musicians! Arjen (Ayreon) Lucassen is the binding factor in the cooperation of all these musicians, singers, roadies and techs. I recommend you watch this video: ruclips.net/video/G9U2RXOq6KI/видео.html to get some insight into Arjen Lucassen. Maybe even before you watch the video of "The Day the World Breaks Down".
i got to fly from the US to see the Beneath the Waves concert this last Sept.. it was everything i had imagined and more.. I will never forget that experience!
First powerful start from Damian Wilson, then hard rock John Cuijpers plus double dose of Jansen sisters, and then Everybody 🤘🤩🤘. This song is a tribute to the "Stargate" movie 1994 (An interstellar teleportation device, found in Egypt, leads to a planet with humans resembling ancient Egyptians who worship the god Ra.). Huge Stargate fan here by the way 😁! And this song is from Arjen's another projects called "Star One". there are 3 of them now , they are not concept albums , but tributes to many different sci-fi movies and TV-shows And this is the last song of the show ... NWSU/FloorFan/Ayreonaut ✌😁🤘
"All together" is the key word here. Not only for the band and the singers, but for the community as a whole. To share an experience like this with people from like over 60 countires is overwhelming. Especially since there's only friendliness. To see Ayreon live, as I did in September, is an experience of a lifetime, and I just hope to be able so do it all again. But now I may be competing with you over those tickets!? Anyhow; as an ayreonat I can only welcoming you, because you're about to become one...
The keyboard player, Joost, is the musical director for Arjen, good friend too. He was in a couple of Floors bands as well as Floors sister Irene. He has been knighted for his abilities!! Yes, you need to dig deeper into Ayreon, it will blow your mind! 😲😲😲😲
What a ridiculous show-closer, huh? I love the song itself too, but bringing everyone out to sing together was incredible. So much talent on one stage. That was indeed Irene, because one Jansen blowing our minds is not enough! Irene joined Floor at a recent solo show in Amsterdam, following Floor's baby break. They did two songs together. There are only fan videos of the performance, but they are still epic!
Yeaaaahhhh🤘🤘🤘🤘 Ayreon is great. Arjen Lucassen is a mastermind in Epic music. Aryeon live performances are rare because of all the logistics needed to get all these people together from all over the world. The shows are always sold out a year before the show… Every album is a unique one so it doesn’t matter where you start… but when you get to an album you need to listen from the beginning till the end. Enjoy Keep it metal🤘🤘🤘
Certainly there is a scifi/fantasy story behind each album, so it might be good to listen to it whole. Like in an opera, you could listen to one aria and it still be good, but you don't get the picture "what's going on"...
After the liveshows Life beneath the Waves, the guitarplayer Marcel Coenen told us that the musicians started practicing in march, 4 songs per month, till september. But the singers had only one general repetition except for Britney Slayes, who took over Floors parts (!!!!), she arrived late and went in without any! Incredible incredible, the whole weekend was magical in every sense! Very best experience I’ve ever had and I’ve seen a show or two in my life.. If you get the chance to be at one of the shows ever…
@@ShadowhispersBand She did, she came with her husband and child, had too much jetlag to participate at the general repetition… imagine her not being very familiar with Ayreon as this was her debut as far as I know, she killed it, what a woman! Great hugger too :)

Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
I love how you comment afterwards on the fact that, despite each individual being incredible singers, they harmonize (the sports reference did the trick for non metal lovers) The thing is; in this kind of sport (metal)there is no competition. It is all love for the music

The real gem if you can find it is Star One - Live on earth. Live show from about 2000. Much smaller, but you have Sir Russell Allen, baby Floor and Irene dancing in a tiny Stargate prop and sparkly suits lol.
I knew you would like this. For me the most remarkable part is when they are singing with no music and with the pauses they still start all together at the same time with the next text.
"This guy sounds like Russel Allen!" Well, It may surprise you, but Russel Allen actually was the original singer of this song on the album ;-). Jaycee replaced him because Russel wasn't available for the live show (I assume).
If you want to listen chronologically, you can do it two ways: you can follow the storyline, then you'll have to start with The Source (although it is the newest album), or you can follow the release dates of the albums, then the first would be "The Final Experiment". Maybe treat yourself first with the Universe show, as it is a kind of best of Ayreon, with some songs from every album, to get a feel for the music, and please, do share the experience with us. Most people start with The Day that the World Breaks Down (off. lyric vid), an absolute masterpiece. Ayreon (and a lot of side projects) has been around for almost 30 years, so buckle up, it's gonna be a deep dive.
Great, thank you. I'm glad you're still here and I am as well. I've been under the weather with an exploded appendix not detected for about a week and a broken hip. Bw, did you research male breast cancer? I hope you know now that it's possible and terrible. I'm so very glad you did this video! It is Floor''s sister Irene and I think the male you didn't recognize is the singer of Twisted Sister (I want to rock) but I'm not entirely sure. Hope to see you again soon!
For your delectation, here are Floor and Irene singing "Dangerous Game" together a couple of weeks ago during Floor's Amsterdam show. Irene could easily have had a full-time singing career, but opted to take a different life road. As do many of us. ruclips.net/video/wXtYiJoM1R4/видео.html
Great reaction, because I totally agree with you, goosebumps forever! I’ve been lucky enough to see all four of the Ayreon shows live in Holland, and twice the last time. It truly is incredible, every time. It’s an out-of-body experience. I would start with Into the Electric Castle, when things really started to amp up for Arjen and Ayreon. You can’t go wrong with anything from that album up to The Source. I wasn’t at all impressed by Transitus, though. Otherwise, you can also check out Arjen’s Sci-Fi side project, Star One, which has albums based on Arjen’s love of Sci-Fi TV shows and films. The one-off Fate of a Dreamer by Ambeon was totally excellent in my opinion, which was an ambient heavy metal exploration featuring the totally incredible and super-young Astrid van der Veen, who eventually disappeared from the music scene because of psychological issues, and which is extremely regretful, since her voice was so unique and mesmerizing. Guilt Machine is also another side project which is excellent as well, but has only resulted in one album so far.
Heya, Arab Man! Great reaction! Been a subscriber since you started reacting to Nightwish. If you're familiar with Stargate, this song is about that film. Also, you're right! that's not Russell Allen, but that part was supposed to be his. There's an old video here on RUclips where Russell Allen was doing that part on a more older concert than this, here it is: ruclips.net/video/VVr9iPzZco4/видео.htmlsi=xMiRILkBSUAPMMYL 😁🤘🤘🤘 P.S. Russell Allen and Floor Jansen are my most favorite singers ever. And they had a duet, doing the Phantom Of The Opera 😁
All of the awe you put in - don't forget that Ayreon usually don't play live. I think there have been less than 10 gigs of any Arjen Lucassen project since he started Ayreon.
He actually did a tour with Anneke van Giersbergen and they did acoustic covers of Ayreon songs. I think the only tour he did in a very long time sadly.
Highest quality in the highest region of music? As classical music stands on its own and jazz and jazz fusion do too? Wouldn't we all wanna be participating (active or inactively) in the ultimate works of such highly ranked ARTists???
I suggest you a chronological listen to Ayreon. You'll hear the evolution of their sound and their album (actually his, the composer is almost only Lucassen). The first album, slightly different form, rawer sound (but still amazing), then the second, more of a solo album, then the third, with the actual ayreon's space opera album form.
